    Hi!
    Ignore my strange fingers. I am double jointed so they bend in ways fingers shouldn't. But you can try stretching your fingers. Pull each finger back one at a time. A lot of people do things like that to stretch their hand out for piano or guitar.
    In the meantime, keep practicing. Also you might best like the two finger cradle. You can also stretch your fingers by pulling them into what looks like the splits. That way you will have a bigger hole to hold the ball in your two finger cradle.

    This is a 75mm acrylic. If you're not planning on doing any stage performing, then it should suit your needs! If you're planning on stage work I would recommend a 100mm because it's easier to see.

    Hi, great videos. I just officially started contact juggling but I've been unknowingly doing it for a long time. Nothing major just what you showed in the video but I never knew about other hand positions. I've been doing the first cradle and your right it does make the wiper harder. Thanks again for the information video. I'm off to watch all your other ones.

    I bought an 100mm acrylic ball. It's super heavy but since I want to learn I've decide to simply get over how heavy it is. This means I can only practice in about 15 minutes sessions before both hands become fatigued. How long do you think it will take me to learn the butterfly and wiper?

    Hi, I just started CJing about a week ago, I used to do normal juggling..
    But I fele like my fingers are not flexible enough.. for example the cradle, I see you are able to stretch your fingers up making it easy to balance the ball.
    Me on the other hand I cant get my fingers to stretch so I kinda get a much flatter surface making it harder to balance..
    I can do the butterfly at the moment but i feel like it could get way smoother if I could stretch my fingers more..
    any tips or exercices? thx!!

    How big is the ball you're using here? I'm looking into buying my first contact ball but I can't decide what size to get. The one in this video looks like a good size. I have fairly large hands (long fingers). I did watch your video about choosing a contact ball but I'm still not sure. I'm mostly interested in isolations and such, not really in stuff like body rolls.

    I've just started contact juggling using your videos but I've run into a problem with the butterfly, when I bring the ball from my palm to the back of my hand I'm having trouble stopping it in the cradle and it starts to roll up my arm. whats the best way to stop this?

  • @LindsayIstace
    @LindsayIstace  Před 11 lety

    I think you should pay particular attention to the level of your wrist and arm, as well as the speed that the ball is coming to your cradle from your palm. Slow it down and make sure that your elbow and wrist are not on angles that will help the ball on it's course down your arm. And when in doubt: practice your cradle more and more and more! =P

    Hey you're a cheater you are double jointed and are able to move your fingers backwards towards the back of the hand. I can't do that. With that said should I even attempt this type of juggling since I have kind of stubby fat hands?

    • @LindsayIstace
      @LindsayIstace  Před 10 lety +1

      Hey! Yeah, I guess I'm a genetic cheat but that doesn't mean that you can't learn. You may just need more practice to compensate.

    • @greyvr4336
      @greyvr4336 Před 9 lety

      Lindsay Istace He's right! It's a cheat. Not that I blame you, I'd do it if I had the motion in the fingers. More directly though, I'm trying to do this, but every time I try to go palm to cradle, it rolls down my arm and falls on my bed. Can you talk a bit more about how you arrest the motion so that the ball stops on the cradle?

    • @LindsayIstace
      @LindsayIstace  Před 9 lety

      If it's going down your arm then your hand is likely raised a bit above your elbow which creates a plane for the ball to roll. It should help if you absorb some of the momentum by dropping your hand down when switch from palm to cradle. You can also bend your wrist up a bit too if the ball starts rolling the other way.
