Hello all,
Welcome to another Victorian heritage train video. Today we complete our coverage of the Shepparton Steam Weekend that was run by Steamrail Victoria over the King's Birthday long weekend.
In our previous video we took a look at the steam shuttles that were run throughout the weekend, capturing 5 out of the 15 shuttles and riding one.
This time we cover the transfers that would get the train to Shepparton on the Friday and Monday of the tour.
The Shepparton Steam Weekend is a four-day steam tour that saw double K-classes, K183 and K190, power up the Great Divide to Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley to provide steam train rides to the local region.
The consist from Melbourne was configured with the Ks at the helm, three freight support wagons, 11 passenger carriages (including crew sleepers) and two high-nosed T class diesels, T356 and T364.
The first task of the train upon departing from Melbourne was to battle Glenroy Bank and the Great Dividing Range., Then, once those had crested, the train cruised into Seymour, where the engines got a quick service and were spun to travel tender-first to Shepparton.
The return was less operationally demanding, during which the train travelled at max speed back to Melbourne, only stopping for a quick service at Seymour once again.
In this video we begin our coverage at Yarraville on the transfer to Southern Cross. We finish off the day in Seymour, then rejoin the train on Monday for the run back home.
