    The only thing that I suggest too some people is, Motorguide is telling people not too run the Two Prong Attwood plugs like this on the Xi3. There has been issues specific too there units along with this Particular Plug. They either recomend a Three Prong Style and or The Anderson SB50 Connectors with either the 8 Guage or 10 Guage depending on how far the run of your wire will be in your Kayak. There has no issues with the Attwood plugs on the Minkota 's or Newport Vessels Stern mount drives. It's only been specific to th Motorguide Xi3 units. So maybe either go with a 3 Prong Style or get the Marine Grade 8 / 10 Guage Wire W/Anderson SB50 Connectors and get some Waterproof Thru Hole Kits like Yak Attack Kit, a West Marine Wire Cap Plug, A Hobie Thru Hull or a Wilderness Systems Thru Hole and run the Wire through this and then leave just enough on the Exterior of the box with a Anderson Plug and maybe get the WaterProof set of Plug Connector covers from PowerWerx there only $5 for Each cover and have Cap covers and are fully Waterproof. They work great. I'm running a Dewalt box off of Amazon with a Multi Amped Outdoors battery 🔋setup the 60 Amp Young Marine Breaker a Amped outdoor Meter to see if need be it the Status on my Batteries, and the Thru Hole Kits with the wires and Anderson connectors and right next to my Battery Box there is a Thru Hole kit that goes into if he side on my rear Tank Well which as the SB 50 to connect to my Battery 🔋Box and then th wire is ran in my hull to hear where my Propel drive is out next to my how hatch and there it comes out through another though hull and plugs into the the Trolling motor wire and Anderson Plug. It's Super Clean and Works Perfect for me. The Dewalt Box is Awsome, is only $23 on Amazon and fits perfectly Three Amped Outdoors 12V 60AH Batteries sideways, and then it need be it can run the Newport Vessels Stern Motor which is a 24V system, so th Battery Box set up can run either a 12 V For Th Xi3 or switch to a 24V for the Newport Vessels motor. For myself this setup has been great. The Dewalt is wide at 24" so the Natives like mine or a Titan are perfect and a Hobie PA would also work great as these have very Wide and long Rear Tank wells. Mine fits the Dewalt box right behind my seat just to the rear of my Boonedox Landing Gear and then just behind my Dewalt / Battery 🔋 Box is my Yak Attack Black Pack box and there is plenty of room for what I run with my Tackle gear. So just some ideas and really wanted it too be noted on the Attwood plug situation Combination with a Motorguide Xi3 Motor / Head Unit. Thanks Ice Hole with All of your Amazing Videos. You Have Helped me Extremely with lots of Knowledge with the Lithium Batteries. I'm Great at Rigging the Kayaks just had to learn quit a bit with the Lithium Battery and Wiring setup with them. Lots and lots of Research. Thank You and Thank You for you Service. 🙏😎👍

    I built this box for my old town sportsman kayak with 45 lb minnkota trolling motor. I was wondering if there’s any concerns about running a 1000w converter with this box? The 8awg wires seems small, since most 1000w inverters come with 5awg wire or bigger. Will it constantly blow the breaker?

    Ice Hole Power do you prefer circuit breakers over 40 or 50 amp fuses for this battery and trolling motor application? I just received this battery from Amped and looking forward to doing something like you did here but with USB cell phone chargers and outputs to power lights. It is going on my Mallard Marine Marsh Rat layout boat to get ready for duck hunting this fall and powering a Minn Kota Riptide 45 lb trolling motor. Thank you for putting this good video out there for us.

    • @iceholepower8012
      @iceholepower8012  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Will! Thank you for watching! You can use either. I prefer the breaker in this case because it was just a bit easier to push a button to cut power than pull a large fuse. If you end up putting usb and lights on the box, make sure you go protect that circuit with a 10 amp fuse or breaker.

    • @iceholepower8012
      @iceholepower8012  Před 2 lety

      Due to limited space, you probably can't get much more than a 100-120 watt solar panel on your kayak. typically you will want to keep your charge current at or below .2C so you are looking at 12 amps for each battery. You will be well below that mark with a 120 watt panel. Thanks for watching!

    Running a Vibe Shearwater125 looking to create a battery box similar to the one you built here. I want it to not only power a Water Snake T245, 12v trolling motor, but also power a Yak Power circuit switching system that all of the other accessories(i.e. Fish finder, cockpit/other lighting, USB charging ports, etc) run off of. Did the heavy duty Attwater trolling motor connectors need to be that heavy guage wire? I want to run the connection from the battery box in the back crate area via through hull wiring. Great question! Looking at the specs for a Watersnake T24 and I am seeing 20 Amps. I also know from installing a Yak Power switch box on my kayak that they are also rated for 20 Amps. So with the potential to pull 40 amps between the two, if it were my yak I would stick with the 8 AWG. Just so I knew wire wasn't getting warm under me in the hull. Send pics of your set up to the Ice Hole Power Facebook page when you get her all done up!

    Your really need to use 60 amp breaker. My 55 lb thrust Minn Kota requires a 60 amp breaker. With lithium batteries the discharge curve is different than lead acid and using lights for amount of charge will not give you accurate reading of the charge. One can buy digital voltmeter online cheap so see that the present voltage is.

    • @iceholepower8012
      @iceholepower8012  Před 4 lety

      the max amp draw an your 55lb is 50 amps. they do recommend a 60 Amp breaker but that number is based on the assumption that you are in a boat and not a kayak. Since you are so much lighter, you won't hit 50 Amps unless there is a short. Im not sure what lights you are referring to unless you are taking about the ones on the 10 amp lithium charger? You must not of watched it long enough to see the Fluke voltmeter in the video where I was checking the polarity of the wires?
