In parents when they hear their baby cry it literally triggers a fight or flight response and it seems louder than it is. I think is an evolution thing to take care of what could be harming our children.

@gabooper They are but it shuts down your brain as a mom. You can only focus on the child, everything else just becomes an annoyance getting in the way of taking care of the baby.

If every man took paternity leave, and even just supported their women and were like available to them- I think that would help reduce postpartum depression. You made it so you can be home and present. All that was for this! That's a wonderful gift to your family!!!❤
This! My partner works from home and that's going to make such an insane difference when we have kids. His work isn't too stressful and he's so excited he'll get to be home with his kid pretty much all day every day, even when I go back to work after my 12 months
I really appreciate Cody’s transparency on being a father. I became a father too this past December. And as much as I love it, it’s so hard and mentally and physically taxing. I’m happy to see someone else not paint the picture of newborns being nothing but peaceful.

I’m pregnant with my second rn and my biggest suggestion is just a good pair of headphones. There are some days that you do everything right and baby will still be upset, and the sound of a baby crying is designed like an alarm that gets into your bones. It really helps you keep your sanity. I am so proud of both of you! You can already tell what amazing parents you guys will be

Seasoned infant nanny here - love seeing y’all enter this new phase of life. One of my favorite parts of being an infant nanny was working with first time parents and watching them tackle all the new info and experiences that come with having your first one. Love this episode!
Being a new parent is a slog. You are killing it as a Dad. Tiktok kind of blurs the postive and not the negative. Reddit kind of makes you sane because it is a venting room. The only advice that I know everyone has said, which is live in the moment.
You are not a piece of lard. We had a baby during COVID, so we could not really leave the house.

Turn on the faucet when they are crying and they aren’t calming down. Turn on the faucet and bounce them! That saved me my first few months! I have a 9 month old and it kept me sane! Babies love the sound of water!
Just so you know, you don’t have to wait for the bottle warmer! There’s nothing wrong with giving a baby room temperature formula, heating it up just helps simulate breast milk

I welcomed my son 3 weeks ago and he’s a very fussy newborn compared to when my seven year old daughter was that age. It can feel so exhausting and those thoughts creep in that you’re doing a bad job but then I remind myself that I’m keeping him alive and surrounding him with love, which is more than good enough. It’s such a whirlwind time, you’ll look back and wonder how time went so fast so try your best to enjoy it, as hard as that can be some times. Thanks for keeping it real

One thing all these newborn stories have done is make me develop a new found respect for my mother considering she had to raise me all on her own while she had 2 toddlers and only had a 1 month paid leave. i was a difficult baby as well, plus postpartum and all that.
I'm sure that there are mothers out there who have it even worse, like in Gah Za, so I'm still grateful, and you should remember to be grateful too.

ugh I feel for you hard. Seeing people post their quiet, easygoing babies while you have a fussy baby thats so hard to settle and just wants to be held is so so hard. Both my babies were fussy newborns. I will say, with our second baby we took her to the chiropractor after hearing about it for years (since our first) and it really made a big difference. It sounded scary at first cause i was picturing them adjusting her like they do adults but they dont, they just press on certain pressure points & it helps their bodies relax. But even without the adjustments with my first, the fussiness got so so much better after 3 months. We're now 4 months in with baby #2 and she is just a little delight, smiling at everyone and everything all day.
