Watersnake Geo-spot GPS Nav Sensor Install

- How to install a Watersnake Geo-spot GPS Navigation sensor into a small Aluminum boat. After purchasing a Watersnake 65lb Geo-spot electric motor for my boat I also got the additional Nav sensor. It unlocks some additional features when used together, including more accurate GPS positioning, jog function on the remote when in anchor mode and helps prevent data cable tangles around the motor shaft. In my case it was a very easy install and when I connected it to my motor it worked pretty well.

@@coasttocountryaustralia is there much difference with it's sport lock etc without the additional GPS sensor, this is the optional sensor for more accuracy?
@@seawater1322 Hi, I gave it a workout today in high winds, current and a bit of swell and it positioned great, plus I could jog the boat into positions, with it unplugged it moved around a bit more but nothing too serious and it did wrap the cord around itself once but no drama. Time will tell. Cheers

@@seawater1322 it seems to work better when theres a bit of tide, wind and swell. If your in calm waters it seems the same, it give you the jog function which is the main reason I got it, that's great for where I fish. Cheers

Hi, thanks for watching, I'm using an old 100amp per hr, and its holding up really well in some windy conditions. I would recommend a 120ah lithium if you can afford it, I will replace it with one when this one dies. Cheers

Hi, yes it works well in windy conditions with a bit of swell and current, depends on the size boat and battery when it comes to performance, I have another video of it working while fishing. Cheers

How are going with it ive got a haines 146r and thinkin of getting the geo snake you happy with it outside fishin in current
So far it's holding well in strong winds and small swell, if you had a windscreen etc it might make it work a bit harder, so far I cant fault it. Cheers
Howzit Bud, I have just installed a watersnake GPS with the Nav sensor on my bass boat. I installed the sensor to the stern side. Was recently out on an inland water and very calm day, no wind. The anchor mode didn't work too great, motor kept switching on/off and trying to correct the position. It would power up and move the boat boat around all the time but didn't seem to be able to hold it in position. Is this because of the calm conditions, no wind or current, etc? What have your experience been with it so far? Regards, Gareth.
I haven't had that problem, only thing I can think of is if it is too calm and the boats not moving then the motor will turn off and if the bow (motor) and stern ( nav sensor) are out of line then it might try to move around and hunt for the right gps spot again. I would see how it goes with a bit more current or wind and see what happens.
@@coasttocountryaustralia Cool, thanks for such a quick reply, much appreciated. The problem is it doesn't settle on the spot, it keeps moving around as if trying to refind the point, which also then causes the boat to move around alot. But agreed I will first test it again in windy conditions. Was just worried that I hadn't installed the nav sensor correctly and that it is too far from the trolling motor. Its mounted at the stern in similer postion to your boat.

Great video thanks. Just a quick question on the jog function. Does it move 1m per button push? (left/right- forward backwards) So if you push the forward button 3 times it will move forward 3m and then stay in anchor mode? As well as clicking the right button 3 times it will move right 3m?
Certainly does, when in anchor mode, sometimes I put in 5m to the right, 3m ahead, sit back and wait for it to put me on the right position, the jog function on the remote only works with the extra gps puck unfortunately. But its well worth it I reckon. Cheers

I see they say it keeps the stern of the boat more "stable" ? Have you found that ?
@@robprideaux3279 rarely wraps the cord around, but it really windy, big tides it has spun the cord around itself but somehow it untangled itself. Most of the time it sits very stable, So far so good, time will tell I guess.

It's sealed in resin, it's rain proof but I wouldn't submersed it in water. Cheers

Motor can run on its own, the gps puck just gives better accuracy.

You just line up the arrow on the sensor in line with the keel of the boat. Cheers
