You said you couldn't define the colour of the car? According to the sign in the engine bay the colour is 42 which in Volvo terms is called "California white". I've owned 5 "California white" Volvos to me one of the nicest colours on a Volvo!
After Jensen screwed together the first 6000 cars, Volvo built about 24,000 1800S models, 9412 1800Es (which is what this model is) and about 8078 ESs (which is the shooting brake/2-door estate wagon).
I have a 1970...42 color, (the California white), and 327-625 upholstery. It's fantastic.
Seems to be idling high. Love the car.
1973 was the last year for the 1800...at least in the US it was.
