This video actually clears up a few bits lf lore info for me. I've been a big fan of doing some D&D/MTG crossover campaigns for my group and was trying to figure out just what kind of power a Planeswalker Spark actually provides. I had thought that pre- and post- mending had planeswalkers that still had functional immortality (where they simply don't die of old age) and could just "walk" to planes they were aware of.

So great! 🤩😋 It's good timing to bring back conversation about the Great Mending, since It has been previewed that soon the multiverse will suffer another big transformation again 😯🌿👀🌿

Yeah! Who knows what they’ll bring about, it may as well be directly tied to the mending itself or add new developments to it!

Thx for the video! Just a question tho: the Great Mending is a thing that happened throughout all times in the lore or just in 4500 AR? Since in your first video it seemed like it happened before the Thran and Yawgmoth storyline began. I`m just wondering if Nicol Bolas felt its effect way back in the ancient times.

Hey Victor, thank you for your question!
So, the Great Mending was initiated by the Planeswalker Jeska in 4500 AR, when she sealed the last major rift in Otaria, on Dominaria. From that moment onward, the power of the Planeswalkers' Spark was rebalanced. Nicol Bolas was spawned by the Ur-Dragon around the year -25.000 AR, which means that he lived nearly 30.000 years with a full empowered spark. When the Great Mending happened however, he too felt the repercussions of it, but only AFTER it was done, and not in ancient times. As for the Thran, their Empire ruled over large portions of Dominaria (particularly the northern-east continent of Terisiare) until around the year -4800AR, which means roughly 9.000 thousand years prior to the mending. That is why the first planeswalkers in MTG's canon (Jaya, Urza, etc.) were much more powerful and frightening than the latest. Because, canonically speaking, the former were akin to living Gods (Pre-Mending), whilst the latter were mere wizards capable of planeswalking across planes (Post-Mending). I hope this clears your doubts! Thank you for watching by the way!!

Jhoria is not a a planeswalkers and it was Venser and Rhoda who were forced to help revive Bolas.

Hey, thank you for your comment. I must have experienced some weird lapsus if I said that Jhoria is a Planeswalker! Could you time-stamp me to the exact point in the video?

I think what you are doing is beautiful. It is very unfortunate WoTC is destroying this beloved universe and its beloved stories with adding transformers cards to the Brothers' War set, and many other crossovers to come that will destroy the MTG we love. I am heart broken.

Thank you so much, I appreciate it. I sadly agree with you on this. I’m afraid that, seeking to include every crossover and outside-character within the card game, the true nature of MTG lore and original universe is being lost bit by bit throughout the years. Having cards from “outside” was fun at first but it shouldn’t have become a major part of WoTC’s efforts. For instance, it has been confirmed that the animated tv series landing on Netflix in the next few months will feature a completely new and rewritten story, which will keep the same characters of the old one but basically changing everything else, therefore it will not be considered canon. My concern, however, is that if this series will become super famous, people will start thinking that THAT is the true MTG canon, because they’ve seen it on Netflix and it looks cool. And all the rest will be lost. Hopefully this will not be the case and I will work here on CZcams towards keeping it alive!
