@Laurence Morin kudos was added to the English language in the late 18th century from Greek kydos meaning glory or fame. www.etymonline.com/search?q=kudos
Being a musician, I've pretty much stopped saying something must be a cheat or fake. If you spend a lot of time practicing something, you'll end up being able to do things that normal people see as fake.. Normal people have trouble patting their head and rubbing their belly.. As a drummer I can move my left leg in a square, right leg in a triangle and tap my head and rub my belly at the same time. It's not even that hard, it's just a result of doing a thing that other people don't have to do for a long time. I'm also pretty much ambidextrous due to drumming, which also isn't a thing for normal people.
Now I take this into account: I'm a mediocre drummer... What could a properly good drummer do in terms of stuff that seems like cheats and nonsense? They can play super fast double stroke rolls with their feet on the bass drum.. That's something I'll never even come close to doing half-well. It looks and sounds like cheating, but it's very much real.
People can get insanely good at stuff.. Like really really really crazy good.
as a strings guy first im super jealous of the interdependence that drummers have, its fuckin wild.
99% of youtube "artists" are just that... people who are very talented youtubers, but awful at art ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, same goes for music and everything else, although music is more difficult because there is less room for error. Regular people tend to listen to much more music, but don't pay attention to visual arts. Thats why videos like "I draw a perfect circle" gather millions of views for no reason.
(BTW, the portrait he drew in this video sucks lol)
While I absolutely agree with you I still have to mention that people also can get like really really really crazy good at cheating.
This is very similar to a method I learned in my Drawing 1 class, where you grid off your reference image and your drawing paper and work square by square, only drawing what is in one square before moving on to to the next. First time we did this, our instructor even had us working on our image upside down so that we were not tempted to draw what we thought was there, rather than lines and values that were actually there.
Sounds fun im going to try this
That is a common drawing method or practice
It's a method of manually copying an existing image, so not really and truly "drawing like a printer" but perhaps something more like "copying like a machine" is a better description?
I was wondering if something like this can be achieved by using the tablet's edges - if you consistently line up the lower edge (some part) of a reference with the edge of the tablet, that shows you exactly what you need to draw at that 'line'.
Back when I was in art school there was an artist there who could composite three photographs together while drawing like a printer, so for example he would have a persons face and then an astronaut suit and then a lunar landscape, and then he would combine all three of those mentally and draw it line by line. It was nearly photographic and very weird to watch.
That sounds incredible!
My aphantasia intensifies
dMn
@BxxDxx Hoodoo that's a great story 😲
And you just do not know how it was done ... tell you what watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat
I'm really happy there wasn't any drama, and a lot of people including the artist actually watched the video and saw Jazza never directly said they cheated, along with that said even if they did they should still be given credit were credit it due
"So... No lynch mob..? D'awww... That's it boys and gals, let's pack it up! Nothing to see here."
"Damn it Larry, don't light the torch!"
Damn, back to the beauty community it is, then...

everyone once in a while i start to let my guard down, and then as soon as forget, i get reminded of the fact that Americans call tomato sauce “ketchup”. it haunts me. it *truly* haunts me.
Why does the word ketchup haunt you lmao
…we don’t call all tomato sauce “ketchup”. Ketchup is a specific condiment that is thicker and has slightly different ingredients than regular tomato sauce. We don’t put ketchup on pizza or in many dishes because it tastes WAY different and has a different texture.
When using regular, runny tomato sauce, we just call it tomato sauce. Now you don’t have to be haunted anymore.

Art community handling each other's criticisms like class acts.
Me starts thinking: It must be because at some point in their lives, they've met one, a few, or plenty of those snobs who think they know everything about art and criticize you just bc of their "refined" perception. There's so much to relate as by the fact that they are fellow artists and understand the struggle of experiencing both good and discriminating criticism that they are willing to ACTIVELY communicate and NOT TECHNICALLY assume anything by law and learn from mistakes, especially when what you thought was impossible has actually been done VeRy well already. LOL The problem with communities like the makeup industry is that 1. Focus on beauty (self image specifically) can end up with unhealthy dynamics Real quick if not handled the way the art community here does.
2. A lot of people who care about their appearance can easily fall into trains of thought about beauty standards that doesn't result in healthy behavior. Genuine artists who like to draw I feel are less likely to form particular opinions on how things should be and fall for 'standards' because setting some kind of standard on how things should roll that doesn't encourage being allowed to explore already goes against the idea of art.
Basically, the usual dramatic communities they are that way because they tend to stick to unnecessary ideals while in the art community, being yourself and expressing yourself through different healthy outlets is encouraged. Not to mention that makeup being directly in industries where self image is important obviously breeds unhealthy dynamics if left to do so.
Edit: and some people can't get enough of drama [can't relate].
We had artists cry in class from criticism people who cant handle criticism shouldnt be artist lol

I'm super impressed with how well that turned out for your first ever attempt. I was also skeptical about these "draw like a printer" videos, especially the two handed ones.
But, being skeptical-minded, I have an alternative "faking it" way that I believe someone *could* use (not at all implying that they are). This would be having a projector set up above (out of view, obviously). The projector image could be blocked then unblocked in synch with the time lapse frames. So, basically every time the camera take a photo (it's spaced out more than normal because of the time-lapse) the image would be blocked, then in between the video frames, the image would be projected. This would look like a strobing effect of the projector on the page. You could set something up almost like a fan rotating in front of the projector where the fan speed could be adjusted to be timed perfectly so that it's never picked up in the video.
I would be so interested to see you try something like that!

they use some polarized paint invisible in normal light and then wear glasses/contact lenses so they can see the stuff on the paper. I recently bought polarized sunglasses and it came with a little card showing the effect
Could be the "Tim's Vermeer" method, or having a tablet next to the sketch you could get away with the "Magic eye picture" method where you squint to overlap the sketch and the reference image in your vision, which equates to tracing.
I think you did it as well as can be done without trickery.
You're such a class act Jazza, and so is DP Art. No Drama, just a good natured conversation about art and different creative processes. 👏👏👏
This channel is slowly beginning to remind me of Simply Nailogical's, but in the best, most hilarious way possible- mostly silly stuff and occasionally videos about what the channel was initially for.
SO TRUE. And personally, my two favorite CZcamsrs because of how respectful they are, how mindful and mature they talk and hiw they, even after doing some silly stuff, gwt real and talk directly about the subject to not just entertain but to teach. They both are such great models and i hoped there was more people like them instead of all the drama and shit.... :c
Loool. True tho😂
Found some holo fans here!
simply jazzlogical i need a nail art collab
Oh holo there!!
Soon, I'm gonna do it too. :) More practice! Thank you for your encouragement.
Hey jazza you inspired me to animate and draw a lot of your tips helped A LOT thank you very much
When you don't have a printer at home, just ask Jazza to print your homework.
I died when he said "oh no I've gone and drawn my nose too big!!" And then he was like oh nevermind

this channel deserves so much more recognition!!
Massive amount of respect to Jazza and DP Art for their responses.
Dammit Jazza, you were supposed to get insulted, challenge him to a boxing match, hire me as a promoter and then rake in that sweet sweet moulah!!!
P.S: Props to you for being humble and professional, it's becoming more and more of a rarity among people nowadays, and you set a great example to the younger generation, who watch your videos!
