In a few weeks I'll be 71. You were speaking directly to that very young man still inside me, who at one time, had similar dreams and desires. You really captured those early days of dashing about, stumbling at times, but always pushing to build a road to where you wanted to be. With no regrets, my path ended way too short like so many others, but it's allowed me to understand what you've gone through and what you are accomplishing. You really are the complete package, and I wish you the very best.
Im 73 today and I agree ☝️
Amen
I'm 62 and a muso in my younger years. Mary really speaks to our generation.
And I'm 68 and your comment is spot on!!
Oh, I forgot to mention when you said "your the complete package". My wife was the complete package and my soulmate. But the age difference destroyed it as she just got better looking and father time was catching up with me. But I still have no regrets.
omg the "follow and then unfollow once they follow you back" thing is real! I never knew that's a thing and when it happened to me for the first time, I was utterly confused about it. I thought it was unintentional and had no idea it was sort of a strategy to create the illusion of having followers.
A very mature, patient and sensible approach. Well done young lady.
Such a great treatment of the concept of "1000 True Fans"! Very well done!
Great advice. You’ve come a long way from the days of broken camcorders and MySpace pages. Rock on girl, you’ve totally earned it 🤘
Your fathers advise on appointments sounds much like my late mothers, and late fathers advice of "Always better to be one hour early than one minute late". They said it was a sign of respect to not keep someone waiting.
Great advice unless you are dating someone who is the polar opposite. Let us just say we had to both try to meet in the middle. Also does not work well for social events where are you expected to be socially late.
I had to smile when you said “If you need an answer right now, then the answer is no”. I’ve learned that, too, but I was a lot older than 31 when I did. It does take some self-confidence. And your father sounds like a wise man. I always hated it when mine turned out to be right. Like when he thought I was getting married too young (it lasted 4 years) or when he said the first thing you lose in cycling as you age is your climbing fitness. Damn him! ;-) Cheers!
This has really given me a sense of calm about capturing a true audience. And embodying 'authentic' too. Tough but worth it.
"There's no fun doing this alone..." damn... that one hit me. I really share those same sentiments, but am currently, doing it alone
no shit, I always thought I was too old with almost 30 to pick up a guitar, a few years ago, found your channel, you inspired me, I bought your beginners course. 2 years later and i hope next week my first ever electric guitar will come. i want to write my own music as well and I am still at the very start of a long journey, but my life goal is to manage to record at least one album before i bite the dust. i dont care if anyone else cares, i just want to to do that.
You got this man
Great advice-especially for the nascent CZcamsr trying to stay afloat. Thank you 🙏🏽
As a fellow independent artist I must say you are a true inspiration, thank you for this advice.
great message , thank you Mary
Good insights Mary! Thanks.
Very interesting
Thanks for posting this!
Your father's very military attitude toward punctuality is similar to the US Navy's adage of "If you're early, you're on time; if you're on time, you're late"!! [ Hmmm... If 'a' = 'b' and 'b' = 'c'...?!? ] -- Blessed Be, & Peace!!
thank you for your profound insights!

Wise words, Mary. Thank you.
Fantastic story Mary, and well told. Your channel is really impressive--subscribed.
Well done Mary, very well explained. I admire your determination and persistence to have brought your career to where you are now because it is extremely hard work in the music business. I think you are better off remaining independent so that you keep control of what you do as well as how and when you do it. As long as you continue to enjoy it keep on keeping on.
This is bloody brilliant.
Go Mary! Go Mary! great video, very inspiring, have a lovely day, all the best.

Hi Mary, Loved your video as always. Was amazing that I looked back at my old Blog from 2010 and I spoke exactly about the 1000 real fan theory back then. Happy to send a link to show you. All the best with everything you do. :-)
Brilliant video with a brilliant message . Knocked it out of the park again, Mary.
Hi Mary, I’ve watched your videos sporadically over the last year or two (goes by so quickly!). Your approach is refreshing and delightful. The last two are moving me towards subscribing. Wish you the very best always ❤
