    Hi Martina, we came to Australia from Argentina on the recommendation of a friend of my wife's. Both my wife and I are professionals, but something that has shocked me a bit is that those "friends" who have professional jobs and in the company they work are open vacancies that fit our profile, use any excuse to not use their networking and Give us more visibility. In Argentina I have extended my hand many times to my friends using my network and here it seems that it is something out of place to ask. Obviously I am not going to ask for the favor again, but the attitude calls my attention a lot. It is clear that we have to look for other friends.

    Hi, I just found out that you went to deakin for your education. May I ask if Deakin is doing great in terms of employability upon graduating?

    • @livingsimplyaustralia
      @livingsimplyaustralia  Před rokem +2

      Hey! Thanks for the question. Yes, I did my Bachelor at Deakin. When I graduated, Deakin was ranking #3 in Australia for graduate employability - and based on my experience, this was true (e.g. all the graduates interviewing for a graduate consulting role at one of big 4s, we were all from Deakin uni - and upon graduating I got a professional job right away). But to be honest, I don't think the university you go to (especially for a Bachelor degree) really matters for getting a job (this is my opinion, others may disagree) - but based on my experience, what matters is your ability to show that you have the right skills, attitude and values to succeed in that position (preparing for the interview the right way is key). Hope this helps.

How do I go about my application and stating I don't have it yet but I can start the process or can obtain in 2-3 months before starting work? And what visa type should I apply for?

    Is it working at restaurants good?

    • @livingsimplyaustralia
      @livingsimplyaustralia  Před rokem +1

      If you don't have any experience whatsoever and are really struggling to get a job - starting work at a restaurant or retail shop is usually easier, and it will give you good customer service skills (in some instances even management skills - I know some people who progressed from wait staff to Restaurant managers). Any customer service role can be a nice gateway to getting a role in sales for example, or even a graduate entry level roles. In my case for example, I already had experience in HR and a degree in Psychology & Management, so I decided to volunteer/intern in a professional environment as it was a better pathway in that sense. So it all depends on the type of role/career you are after, the skills required for that role, how much experience you already have or not, and how much you are struggling to get your foot in the door. The goal is to gain skills that can be transferred to the role/career you want. Hope this helps.

      Kitchen Hand is the easiest job to get but it is the lowest paid, very dangerous and you have to work very hard and fast. Waitering is harder to get because there is more competition. Lots of these jobs are paid in cash below minimum wage.

    • @livingsimplyaustralia
      @livingsimplyaustralia  Před rokem +1

      Australia is a big country - so you have a wide variety of climates - the further up north you go, the hotter - here in Melb or Syd we have proper seasons (winter is pretty cold, and summer hot) - Queensland is relatively warm all year round (and very humid during summer). But I'll be talking about what I think about the weather in an upcoming vid

    • @livingsimplyaustralia
      @livingsimplyaustralia  Před rokem

      Networking with Australian recruiters and employers is a good idea. You won't necessarily land a job (perhaps you do), but you'll have contacts for when you arrive here. If you work at an international company with offices in Australia, getting a transfer is another option.
