The overreaction to results is maddening. When we win people act like we're about to challenge City for the title. When we lose it's like we've been relegated. The reality is Newcastle are an upper mid-table side. We can beat anyone, and anyone can beat us. We'll still finish 6th or 7th.

Howe is working with Dubs, Murphy, Longy, Krafth in starting 11 a couple of years post takeover. Performance had me furious, rather than result, but I’ve calmed down now and ultimately those players are relegation/championship players. He needs the chance to have ‘his own’ team and not still lots of players inherited. If this lots finish 6th it’s almost better than 4th for me. Needs to be a big reboot in summer though and sadly that means one of Bruno or Isak will go.

The biggest realisation from last night for me is that I think we (Edit:’re going to be forced) have to sell Bruno.
We have so much shit in our squad that it’s impossible to replace them without sacrificing a star player to fund replacements.
Longstaff, Krafth, Murphy, Dubravka shouldn’t be playing in black and white. Burn shouldn’t be near the starting 11. You’ve then got all the shit that is in the squad that needs shifted: Dummett, Gillespie, Ritchie, Hayden, Fraser, Hendrick, Karius, Lewis…
You’ve also got the crocks and inconsistent players: Targett, Wilson, Miggy, Willock…
In order to win things and consistently deliver European football you need rid of 80% of the above list and have reliable, quality replacements. We haven’t got the budget to do that.
My growing concern this season has also been whether Eddie has the balls to be ruthless with these players as he likes them as characters. Time will tell but it feels like this summer is a massive fork in the road for us, we either progress or we risk stagnating.

All the press are terrified of criticising the manager. We have had a few good results but our performances have been awful for most of the season.
For the Eze they have we have Isak so overall the teams were probably on par (he wasn’t involved in the goals either).

Without calling out the bad traits in specific players the way to look at it is very simple and tells you everything you need to know - which of the ‘big 6’ would the following players start for if they joined them tomorrow; Longstaff, Krafth, Murphy, Burn, Dummet, Ritchie… if the answer is 0 then they shouldn’t be at Newcastle it’s as simple as that. Longstaff for as much as he runs is absolutely awful, he goes down to easy and cost us a goal yesterday and also stopped us scoring one when he again went down to easy in the box. I know our options are limited but is he really better than Joe White? If the answer is yes then I’m sorry but White needs to go as well. No room for sentiment this summer we need to be ruthless across the whole team. You need to look at the vital stats of a player.
    Bruno lost possession 18 times.
Dan Burn lost possession 20 times
    Anderson lost possession ETC ETC
This is why the possession stat in 1st half was as low as 25% with Palace at 75%. When some NUFC players are put under pressure, they look like a Championship side. PL status players can handle it often making a key pass to expose your high press. NUFC just kept losing the ball and inviting pressure and the goal was coming. Palace had 9 shots to NUFC's none.
I thought with the exception of Isak , a lot of players were crap and some were not at the races due to the incorrect personnel and tactic employed. In the long run, Eddie will need to clear out a lot of these guys or he will get schooled by proper PL level players like we saw in Palace. If i was Bruno or Isak, the only thing that would make me stay at NUFC is the fact there are good PL level players that are currently out of the team and they will come back. But even then, ou still need better backup players than the ones NUFC currently hold. You can not wish to win things and be happy with players that can lose a football 20x a game. You cannot provide anything to front men when you are losing the ball that much at the back. Its like one of them makes a mistake and the other follows it. When you are in possession, sending a hopeful ball that goes out for a through in. It was a bad bad performance from the team and i have to say Eddie played a hand in it too.

To be very blunt, player for player, apart from Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool, we are better that the other teams in the league. Isak, Bruno and Gordon would get into any team. Wilson, Trippier, Joelinton, Willock, Livramento, Anderson, Botman, Schar and Barnes would also walk into sides like Palace, Fulham, Bournemouth, Forest, Luton, Brighton, Wolves, Sheff U, Burnley, Everton etc.
With this in mind, we are playing well below our potential. We are actually a better side than the likes of Villa and Spurs yet they are well ahead of us.
We are just like Man U. The sum of our parts is actually greater than the that of our team. The problem lies with how we are setting up. The players are more than capable of controlling and dominating ordinary sides like Palace yet time and time again we fail.

He makes it look like he's doing something but in reality he had virtually no impact on the game. I know he's playing through an injury, but why subject him and everyone else to the same non-performance every week? Not good enough, MASSIVE lack of effort from the whole team. They all had nice little holidays then should've been coming back refreshed, fit and sprinting all over and they literally only sprinted around for the 1st 5 mins, then gave up and looked clueless. No urgency on the ball, looked half asleep. And just because the formation worked against Tottenham, why did Howe assume this was the right setup to beat Palace? This was such a predictable move and Oliver Glasner clearly saw through it and set them up to quash it from the off. You need to match their attacking pace with defensive pace, so Livramento and Hall should've both started, or atleast come on very early in the game, when it was clear we were making zero impact and nowhere near matching them. The "sit deep and counter" was the total wrong tactic for Palace, which should have been obvious before the game even started.
