- This is a short video showing how i cleared up my new ecosystem pond. After building it was very muddy. I'd been patiently waiting for it to clear on it's own but i got impatient.
I used a flocculant to clear it up. If you can't find the flocculent i used try the amazon link below for a suitable fish and plant safe flocculent to clear up your muddy pond.

Thanks for the share on product usage !!
Amazing Job Mate! 👌👊
Cheers From Montreal, Quebec Canada!! 🍻
G’day Haseeb. Cheers 🍻
Worked great.
Yeah mate. It’s cool stuff 👍
Nice update video
Thanks
Flocculant works best when you did what you did and put it in a watering can and cast over the whole pond. If you just pour the amount out of the bottle straight into the pond, the results will not be anywhere near as good. Nice work.
I was amazed by the results. Now I always keep some flocculent on hand.
I used clear water by Api about a month ago. Same type of product. It's amazing how fast these work.
Yeap. Crazy. I couldn’t believe how quick it all happened.
Thank you
You're welcome
Skinwalker in the background agrees that’s a nice pond
Thanks for this video and short demo. I assume it’s safe for the fish while there’re in the pond.
Absolutely safe 👍
Use under water jets and good skimmer, add a big filter. Your water will be crystal clear.
Agreed. Can’t beat a bog filter, good circulation and a skimmer or intake bay. But even my aquascape pond needed some flocullent to bind the clay particles together. Otherwise they just stay in suspension passing through all the filters.
Not true, have 2 oase pumps, 6000 lph and 10000 lph, 2 oase filters, 11000 and 16000 and an oase skimmer. Pond was fairly clear for few days but not dirty again. Now have bloody duck weed. Spend days sorting it. off. Only have 6 small fish, 4 goldfish and 2 small Japanese koi. Beginning to hate ponds. Starting to p..s me. Spent £1000s and 10s hours time, water cleared and has just gone back. Wtf
I’m not sure what the question is?
Did the same. Cleaned my gravel and put this wonder in. 2 hours later crystal clear. It seems like the more you put in the quicker it flocs together
Is the product safe for fish and plants?
Yes i had fish and plants didnt seem to edfect them. Just note it flocs and all the muck will end up on the bottom of the pond. It caused some algae. If you have the patience just wait for your filter to clear it out. Filter floss works well
G'day, my new pond is that orange clay, no liner or concrete. Will the flocculent keep it clean after a few applications? My pond is around 100,000 litres.
Fairly big but my yard is massive and anything smaller wouldn't look any good. When the weather improves and I can get out there and get more work done, I'll be happy. My next project is a filter most likely a bog filter as you say the work best. Can you send me a link to show me how to build one suitable for my large pond?
I’d expect that you’ll probably need to reapply the flocculent after rain events. Not 100% sure though. I think overtime once vegetation on the edges is established less clay will get stirred up during those events. My dream pond holds about 40,000 litres. I have a playlist on how I built that pond. Hi Kev, I have a brand new pond only a few weeks old. I have put in quite a few plants. It went through the green water stage but that cleared up on its own, however since then the water is clear (ie. I can see the bottom), but has a browny/yellow tint to it - almost like tea or beer. All my research suggests that this is to do with too many decaying plants in the pond. However, as mentioned, its a new pond and hardly any decaying matter at all (yet). So I am calling on you again to see if you have ever come across this and perhaps can assist with what the problem is, and how to fix it (or will it go away on its own)? I might add there is quite a bit of string algae in the pond just at the moment, in case that matters - waiting for the bacteria to do its thing. It's got me stumped as I have 2 other smaller ponds and they never had this issue. Thanks mate
Are you putting anything in? Fish food? This question has come up a lot lately. Is there wood in the pond? One guy had lots of gum nuts dropping in his pond. Have you had lots of rain? Runoff perhaps? If it’s not tannins or over feeding try a little flocculent.
@@Ozponds haven't put any food in, nothing is falling into the pond, it has rained in the last few days, but this brown water was happening well before that. The only thing I did differently compared to my 2 smaller ponds was in this pond with the brown water I didn't have any filtration on it for the first couple of weeks. Instead, I just had a pump moving water up to a 10m stream. I added a filter a couple of days ago, so maybe that will clear it eventually. If not then I will try flocculent as you suggested. Thanks.
Certain logs and branches leak tannons that turn water dark brown
do those mud pond have a drainage? coz they be like just a huge basin right?
This pond is a lined pond. It went muddy from all the clay on the rock. But generally all ponds/ basins or dams should have a drainage or overflow point.
at the 2:55 mark you actually sound a little depressed that it worked so good lol, thinking "why did I wait so long?"
😂 you’re right! I kept thinking it would clear naturally. Then when the flocculent worked so quickly.... I felt like an idiot.
HI Kev I have want you calla bog pond, the other one is clear, my second one as muddy water, with out a filter, what can I use
Flocculent will work.
Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭!!
Pond max is a poisonous for fish or not?
Mimangso Boo safe for fish and plants so long as you use as directed. There are fish in this pond. Hope that helps.
Not to ask a stupid question, but that's a tiny pond, with a liner, no? Couldn't you just skip the chems, empty it and refill?
Yes you could. Although it takes a few goes depending on how dirty the rock and pebble is. I drained and re filled this once before trying the flocculent. The clay has the particles that just refuse to clump together, the flocculent makes them clump and then they can be captured in the filters. Hope that makes sense 👍
Can this be bought in the USA? I can’t seem to find it on Amazon, etc.
You can buy flocculent for ponds. I thought I put a link to the product by aquascape for US viewers. The pond max product that I used isn’t available in the US. Just search up pond flocculent. Hope that helps 👍
@@Ozponds I just found floculent on Amazon. I live in Nevada. We recently had a huge thunderstorm that washed hundreds of gallons of mud and muddy water into our pond. Ugh, it’s a mess and I hope this works for us.🤞
It will make your water clear again. Of course it won’t remove the sediment it just sinks it to the bottom 👍
How long does it last for before you need to use again?
I needed to apply this twice 3 days apart. Since then I’ve never had to use it again. Hope that helps 👍
@@Ozponds Thanks.
Can you put it in the pound while the fish are in it or would it harm the fish ?
Yeap Harry I had fish in when I added it no problems.
@@Ozponds thanks for being so helpful mate gunna try this out
@ozponds is this product plant and fish safe?
Yes 👍 there were fish and plants in this pond no problems.
Ok so I’m making a pond in my backyard right? And everytime I put water in it the water just goes into the dirt which is common sense how do I make it to where it doesn’t go through I saw the Indian dudes like patch they’re walls with something I can’t tell what it is tho
You’ll need to use a liner. Which type of pond liner is best? That video will give you a good starting place to selecting something to keep the water in.
@@Ozponds ok thx that’s great to hear
Is this safe for fishes in pond?
Yeap safe for fish and plants.
Is this bad for the goldfish we have in a dirty pond?
They don’t mind as long as the water parameters are good.
Hmmm so you just put the Mixture in pond water, and it cleaned the water?
Wow
😂 that’s what I thought. I didn’t expect it to be so effective!
Yes, just like in a pool clarifiers/flocculants work by making the tiny particles clump together and fall to the bottom of the pool/pond
How big of s pond can this work on
Any size. It just obviously costs more the larger the volume of water.
Can we put this in drinking water pond???
Some flocculents can be used in drinking water. I believe aquatic clear dam is one. I’m not sure whether pondmaxx that I used in this video is.
@@Ozponds thank you 😊
Anytime 👍
What will happen to fish?
Nothing. It’s fish safe.
where did you buy it
The original product I purchased at a pond supply shop in Springvale. But you can buy any pond safe flocculent online and it will do the job. I’ve put some links in the description 👍
Thanks!!!!
Would it hurt the fish
Can I get it at lowes or home depot
It works very good
2:46 who was screaming?
Not sure Max.
@@Ozponds oh
Birds, not screaming
How to get it in India
I’m not sure I’m not in India. Just search pond flocculent 👍
Put cleaner fish inside pond ( cleaner shrimp )
Does that really work for muddy water?
@@Ozponds They literally eat all particles and parasites and algae. Just but a bag full of them and let them breed in the pond for a year. They also clean fish and keep them healthy.
Why its impossible to get it!!!
Did you check the links?? Flocculent should be easy to get everywhere.
I Find a different bottle, i dont know if it works as good as pondmax
It should they are all using the same ingredients 👍
I wake up this morning And my pond is crystal clear without any flocculant!
Bonus! You just saved 20 bucks 👍
That's a puddle not a pond! LOL
😂 yes in some parts of the world. In Australia we call this a pond (it is a dry country). We call the big ones lakes or dams.👍
Hey kev, is it common for my pond to get muddy after a rain? Do you use flocculant often?
I only use flocculent at the start. Once everything is settled there shouldn’t be any need to reapply. Where is the mud coming from?
@@Ozponds truthfully I don’t know. Maybe from my surrounding rocks? But I made sure to clean them good before putting them in the pond. I built a berm around the pond which the liner goes over. So dirt and water runs away from the pond during rainstorms. I’m sure I left some dirt in there by accident but just curious. Your one video showed a dirty pond and you added flocculant. My pond looks like that (not as bad) after heavy rainstorms. I have a stream and big filter. My dirt where I’m from is mostly clay. It’s still a new pond so I’m wondering if it just needs time to mature and find it’s happy place.
Yeah just wait and see. 👍
@@Ozponds thanks for taking the time to respond.
