    I think having it solo and party is a pretty good idea, Guild Wars 2 does it with their new iterations of Strike Missions, first they are Solo in the story mode, with parts of the history and whatever you want to put, then after beating it, you unlock the strike version, which is a party dungeon content, with only the boss fight, but now more difficult than the story one, and after some time, they generally have been releasing a CM (Challenge Mode), with more boss mechanics and things to do apart from just an HP or DMG booster, which is fun, very fun, and of course, better rewards.

    for the solo/group boss situation what you can do is add an additional area that is gated in some way (either complete the story content first, or later on) where you can place a stronger version of the solo boss for groups to come back to later on. You could possibly make them MUCH stronger versions to give players a reason to come back to certain areas after leveling up 20-30 more times in other areas, giving some unique drops for incentive.

    And yeah it makes sense for it to be solo especially in the beginning. If you wanted group content this early you could probably make bosses that are free roaming parts of the underworld, somewhat similar to the giant skeleton and ghost skull, but much meaner.

    Perhaps my idea might seem simple, but imagine this: when the player hovers over an object that teleports them to another place, like a mysterious dungeon, wouldn't it be captivating to have the highlight color change to something distinct?
    Currently, we use a yellow outline for highlighting, which works well. However, think about the possibilities if we introduced a variety of colors to indicate different interactions. For instance, interactable objects could have a green glow, pickable items could shimmer in blue, and the entrance to a dungeon could emanate an enchanting purple aura.
    By employing a range of colors for various interactions, we not only enhance the visual appeal of the game but also offer players subtle cues to differentiate between different gameplay elements. This can lead to a more immersive and engaging experience, as players can quickly grasp the significance of different objects without relying solely on text prompts.
    Incorporating these thoughtful design elements can elevate the overall experience and make the game more enjoyable and captivating for players. Sometimes, it's the seemingly small ideas that can have a significant impact on the overall feel and enjoyment of the game.

      Here is the neat part....I can do that already. I just haven't picked colors yet XD
      I recently update the target reticles to change color/shape based on targeting an object/player/enemy

    Typically it would be better not to split players in an MMO. Even for continuity sake. Find a way to justify a group encountering the boss. Even ignoring what makes sense story wise to keep the party together would be better than forcing the party to split into a solo fight. Not to mention it would be more work to make a solo & group version of 1 encounter.
    This is an mmo. You're attracting an audience that wants to play with other people. This doesn't mean you should ignore the solo player. It just means everything should be group oriented first in my opinion.
    I'd be interested to hear if you have a counter to that. I'm a game dev myself and love seeing other people's takes on a subject

      I have people in my life that are diametrically opposed to either idea. Some of my best friends are very solo play oriented, while myself, love grabbing a few randoms and going through group content. I think the best thing to do is to provide a healthy amount of both group and solo content. Seeing as how this meeting with Halja takes place in a "tutorial" setting. I don't feel bad making it solo only. Allowing for group play could rob a player of valuable gameplay lessons.
      Going forward tho. There will be plenty of group content, both in instanced dungeons, and out in the world. Open world group oriented content seems to be a dwindling practise, and most MMOs feel they need to lock group content behind sterile dungeon instances. Where I miss the chaos of trying to pull group mobs along side another group. Or coming across a rare boss spawn out in the world.

      One idea could be to give solo players an achievement for defeating a boss solo so they can have a sense of accomplishment. You could track what percent of damage was done by the player and if they did 100% of it give them some special cosmetic hat or a title or whatever. I’d imagine this would be a headache to implement from the ground up. BTW I’m a huge fan of your devlogs, your game is super awesome.

      ​​@@noiadevI agree with the main comment and also, if it is clear that the story is meant to be followed by only one protagonist, just make all the story scenes in that fashion but load the entire group after for the fight.
      It makes more sense to me personally to not break apart the group and let people help each other with bosses that aren't easy for someone. In that mentality, you don't need to put the weapon into the cinematic or even the members of the group. Just a good transition before the fight and balancing the bosses for multiple players.
      PS: as long as you stay consistent and that it is clear to the player, you don't need to be logical.

    this has realy come a long long way, what you really need in your game and i know you wont want to do it now as like you said your burning out from art but your desperate for some proper death anitmations to bring the game into alot more life other then that what a gem of a game youve got in the works :D

    For the system of animating the right weapon in the cutscene, if you create a checker to know what type of weapon, or id of the weapon the player is using to decide which one to use in the animation would not work?

    I think if you're going for story you should consider giving every monster and future dungeon a solo and a group version. This will take way more work, but would be ideal, since both partys are happy: They can either play alone or have a group for the content. You'd of course need an incentive for group play, which could be better loot (Only reason people like to play Mythic+ on WoW for example) or bonus content. This would also need more time.
    In my opinion you should firstly focus on group dungeons and add the possible solo dungeons later as a big update. It'll also make people replay the game or be great for challenge runs or whatever people do with MMORPGs these days. That way you'll have everyone play Noia as intended in the beginning and slowly but surely get their bits and pieces from the game

    Ik this is old so I don't know if you can implement this idea of how it fits as I have not seen future videos; could use it for a future boss. Anyways I think it would be cool if the boss before the queens room had a ungodly amount of health and it looked scary to the character. But the goal isn't to kill it, once you get it to 3/4 health or 1/2 health it lets the player pass. Maybe even a easter egg fif even after he says you can pass you take the time to finish him off and get some cool item.

    Any time I see someone laughing mindlessly like that makes me laugh
    Quick tip on thumbnails:
    On mobile, and maybe on desktop, CZcams covers a portion of the thumbnail with the video’s runtime, and that’s been covering the character sprite at the bottom corner. Maybe switch him over to the left and have bigger sprites on the right. Just a suggestion.

    When i fight the reaper boss the screen just blacks out and all i can do is die or quit the game. It happened both times i went to fight him so far. Also, the combat is so weird. Having to spam the 1 button and click the enemy to attack is just super awkward, especially since clicking also make you move. I don't want to sound rude, i know a ton of work goes into making a game by yourself, but this is a huge issue to me. I don't mind the graphics but at least the combat should be somewhat enjoyable.
