Or the fact that they all seem to be performing the same analogy as if they came across it somewhere and decided to imitate…. Or as they say “be on the same page”
No different than anyone who wore a mask and bent over for "science" that has been debunked countless times.
Because they pay a lot of money to be a member of that church… I mean club. They want to be entertained, not be prepared.

Messianic Jews hold the Bible in reverence and will not even place the Bible on the ground or floor. Kicking the Bible shows extreme disrespect and is quite unsettling, in my opinion. I could be wrong, as I am often, though.

Sadly, I participated in church services exactly like this. After 30 years of Christian “entertainment “ I realized, repented, whatever you want to call it and it’s a deep regret that I have. I clearly see how God is HOLY and this garbage is not
The problem with the modern age of entertainment centered worship is that it ultimately focused on pleasing self. It’s not about worshipping a holy God.

Do these people even crack open the Word of God or do they just kick it? I pray for their true repentance of these blasphemous things and to actually turn away from them. My heart aches for them and their congregations.

There once was a sincere man who wrote a heartfelt letter to his wife, but when she received the letter she mocked him, threw it on the ground and stomped it into the mud. There were some who said that was okay that the woman did that, afterall, it was just paper and ink. But there are others who wept because they understood it was not the paper and ink she had stomped into the mud, but the heartfelt and sincere message of the sender she had treated with such contempt. It's improper to focus on the medium of the message rather than the message itself. They kicked the very Word of God across the stage of their clubhouse.

Honestly, no matter what denominational background one comes from, this should be appalling to all who hold the Bible in high regard.
This is beyond a friendly debate or discussion about methodological differences.
This is not even Christian. In fact, it is bordering on, if not outright, blasphemy.

Just because they call themselves a church, and say they're Christian, doesn't mean they are.
"By their fruit you shall know them. A good tree does not produce bad fruit;" These people have not been born again of the incorruptible seed of the Word of God, nor is there any evidence of regeneration and new life in Christ...no one who is in Christ, and therefore not under condemnation, would be so disrespectful to the Word of God... since "He honored His Word above His name," and His name "is above all names," no one with the Spirit of God abiding in them would exhibit such behavior. Their actions are those of the devil, who is also their god.
I've attended the same church for over 25 years and seeing what goes on in other churches makes me so grateful for a Pastor who does expository preaching/teaching.
I don't always agree with all of Todd's doctrine but he's 10000% correct on calling out whatever this stuff is. And kicking the Bible is next level blasphemy. Shame on them.
I like when he said, "it's hard out there. People are lonely, anxious, depressed, and hurting. They need a Savior not trite." It's true. People want truth and something that can sustain them. This is just cotton candy that dissolves and fades away.

Every time I see the shenanigans taking place in these so-called 'churches', I'm reminded of the Israelites getting up to play before their golden calf in Exodus 32. There is no fear of God in the eyes of these people.
My take on our last church and why I left. Show up to a big fancy modern building, grab a coffee at the church starbucks style coffee shop, listen to a band, watch a power point, and leave. The whole thing was so spiritually empty.
I’m sorry, I’m going to try to remain calm … when I first saw a clip of this “church” a couple days ago, in which they KICKED the Word of God, I wept for the better part of the rest of the day, sometimes loudly. God’s Holy Word states in Psalm 138 that He has magnified His Word above all His Name! This isn’t a church. These people aren’t saved. They hate God, and they clearly hate His Word. This isn’t “trite”, this isn’t irrelevant, this is despicable and these people need to be more than just called out on Wretched and laughed at.

There is no fear of God. No reverence, no awe for the Holy Triune God, no reverence for His Holy Word. It's a stunning spectacle. I know what you mean, all Christians should weep to see this going on. Thank you for your mention of the Psalms, where we see God's attributes and are reminded of proper worship.

Yet there are many things we do that are despicable to God. All should reflect on there backslideness; repent from sin; and reverse apostasy.
One thing is very true: they are guilty of irreverence, in violation of Biblical respect ; and most of all delaying the "delivery of truth".

Todd did one where the “worship pastor” of Bethel in Redding California (his daughter in law) stood in front of a gathering and said how God had a sense of humor and that angels stood around the Throne and had “farting contests” and texted each other. People laughed with this foolishness.
Read Isaiah’s commissioning. Read Revelation. Read every encounter that people had with angels. Obviously sad how lost these people are.

This always bothered me. I remember going to a Bible College in '07-'08 and one of the instructors took his Bible, put it on the ground and stood on it. I honestly can't even remember what his point was for doing that. I stopped listening to him and was just in shock that someone in leadership would've done this. I had planned on going back the next year to continue my studies but decided against it after seeing that.
It was probably a clumsy illustration that the Word of God is a rock and we should build our lives on that foundation and stand on it. It would be better to explain it that standing on the book physically.....
Too many spiritual leaders use inappropriate illustrations to make a point. We have so many stories in Scripture that can take an audience captive without poisoning the mind. I’m sorry this happened to you.

I saw a preacher do that once. He said it was because he was "standing on the Word of God." I don't believe that he meant to disparage or demean it, but I absolutely do understand how someone could interpret it that way.
I attended Life Church Super Bowl Sunday the “message” was 6 Super Bowl commercials and Craig Groeschel tried to tie scripture to each commercial. 🤔The worst part was before the service where the church band was playing and Singing songs from secular bands Muse and Black Eyed Peas….then went to worship music. I found this absolutely disgusting. Seems like this is becoming more normal.. how sad God must be.
These displays are very hard to watch even in this context.

The mind-boggling thing is that when you think of how many folks it took to come up with the idea, to plan, to buy and set up props/stage/music lighting...everything for probably months... and apparently not one person in the heirachy of that entire building said *"Ummm... guys? Doesn't this seem a bit...I dunno...blasphemous? I could be wrong but it doesn't feel right in my soul."*

I get your point here. These people are supposed to be teaching the bible, having reverence for the bible, preaching from the bible, NOT KICKING IT!
I remember all the talk about having to "modernize" to win over the youth in the 90s and early 2000s when I was a young Christian. I didn't like it then as I felt the scripture was sufficient and all that stuff was just stage performance, but now that I've seen its fruit, I utterly despise the very core of the statement.
These people don't even know the God they're supposed to be representing.
The complete absence of the fear of God or ability to recognize that which is sacred is sickening. Reading through the Bible, I'm in O.T., one thing that really strikes me is how strongly God was trying to teach the Israelites to respect what is holy. We've completely lost this.
And an utter lack of Maturity and Wisdom.
I can't imagine any of the pastors I've had throughout my life doing anything like this!!! They'd be horrified, just as much as I am. Whatever happened to mature men of God???

This is making light of worshiping God. This is more about the people performing - and their own ego - than glorifying God. Finally, singing secular songs that were not written to honor God within the service, is always a terrible idea and border around heresy (too strong of a word, but it’s the only one I could think of)
I am a terrible Catholic and not a church going man, but even I was utterly horrified by a Bible being kicked. I can't even fathom why someone would think "Hey, I have a great idea for the service this Super Bowl Sunday...."

How beautiful those first 4 chapters are of 2nd Corinthians 1-4. my favorite -- out of anguish of heart and ,,,,,,,,, I prayed for you with many tears ( sorry I am just quoting it from top of my head) -- you could just hear the echoes of love that God had put in Paul's heart. Amen!

I went to one of these services a few years ago and the exit song when everyone was leaving the auditorium was "Jump" from Van Halen. From what I understand, that song was about committing suicide and "jumping off a tall building". A strange way to send people off into the world.
Oh, and new guitar players are supposed to give their testimonies to the church soon after getting hired. When one of the songs were over the guitar player came to the front of the stage. He said this gig was a blessing from God. He went on to say that prior to this job, he was working at a UPS warehouse. He hated his job and everyone he worked with. And that he always got in trouble with his manager for coming in late and always having a bad attitude. And he concluded by telling the congregation that all he ever loved doing was drinking and playing his guitar and was so grateful that he didn't have to go to work anymore. He said his friend set him up with the audition and vouched for him to get the job. Apparently, nobody checked to be sure he was a Christian or what he was going to say for his "testimony".
This is so sickening, this is so heartbreaking 💔 and disgusting to kick Gods word . I pray for all these people who think this is awesome. So so sad

Many churches do this kind of stuff in the name of “outreach “, trying to entice people who otherwise might not go to church. The problem though is that getting people in the doors should not overshadow the message of Christ. What will happen when these churches have a regular service, No jersey, no punting bibles? Will they stay?

My Pastor wore a football jersey on Sunday and encouraged members to wear one as well. I waited for the after service party to wear the jersey. I didn't feel right wearing it to church. However, the church service was not football themed and nobody kicked the Bible.
If I attended one of these churches featured in the video, I'd probably leave and never come back. Who ever thought kicking the Bible was a good idea?!

I still don't understand why pop culture enters churches why would your pastor think that on day we are supposed to gather as the body of christ to tell members of the church to wear jerseys ..we have immature Christians because we have boys leading churches not men of God it's okay to watch sports at home and not idolized as the culture does but churches and pastors in America are so influenced by the culture ..I am not from America..and have never once have our pastors turn our service into a gimmick or circus ..American churches are sad ...

If my pastor wore a jersey to Sunday service, I would walk out and never return. How about if people spend less time worshipping athletes and more time in God's word? Church is a place to hear God's word preached, not to mix in worldly things like sports.

This service was so sickening and grieved my spirit.
There was a local church that advertised (I got a flyer) they would watch the "Game" for 2nd service then have service afterwards So I grabbed my bible and headed down, when I arrived I got stares. The pastor started preaching, saw me and stated " I will be reading from many books I am reading none of which will be the bible, If you wish you can do that in your own time" he then went on about how impressed he was with the growth of the church from the small Hookah smoking group they started as! Wow, its been 10 years, I never went back.🤢

I completely agree. The church is doing all kinds of gimmicks to attract more people. They can defend it by saying, we're fishing for men. Truth be told, they want to fill the seats and make money. God's word does not need to be jazzed up. Even in a church that is somewhat holding to truth, pastors seem to feel the need to become entertainers and almost like stand-up comedians. I find it nauseating. The word of God does not need to be jazzed up.
I try live my life - “blessed are the peacemakers”. I think if I saw someone getting ready to punt the Bible they would quickly understand what it feels like to get blindsided by a defensive lineman before their foot ever made contact with Gods word.

There are people in other countries that can only access pages of the Bible. In reverence for the Word, I don’t let other books or things on top of it. But in the name of Jesus, if one does not have a proper fear of God and His word to treasure it, DO NOT treat it like an object to kick like a ball!!!
If my pasters did this I'd leave in tears.
My church will mention and maybe reference sports, but never will make it the center of the sermon.
You are exactly right! This isn’t what we need. People are lonely and in desperate need of Jesus, like you said.
