I made a fairing for my e-scooter using PLA on an Ender in 5 parts, using Blender and a lot of time to design the meshes with overlaps and holes for bolts and tunnels for cable ties. Took at lot of time to print, but the results are good and the fairing keeps my legs dry in the rain and improves economy!
This Qidi machine is impressive, and I'll consider getting one!
Thanks Andy! Yeah I've had to reconsider the value of 3D printers over the past couple of years. Kind of kicking myself in the butt for scoffing at them with an old school attitude. I started with Enders, but this printer is on a whole different level. Large volume, 10X faster, no assembly. I love it so far.

It's a bit more pro-soomer direction but kinda a hobby printer. But DAMN that battery enclosure looks NICE! GREAT JOB!
I just subbed based on your Qidi review. You gained one as you lost some. I'm not into e-bikes but would love one for silent back country riding so now I have something else to learn about. Thanks for showing real world applications for this printer your battery parts look amazing and is exactly the quality I hope and expect to get from a printer. I was doubting the Qidi but the last couple video's I have watched are making me rethink my hesitation towards it.
Thanks! Glad you found it useful. They had an issue with heat creep in the beginning but worked with customers to resolve it. I haven't seen any complaints or bad reviews since. It's a really nice machine, especially for the price. Kind of surprising. But it's well built, works like it should, no glitches in the machine or the software. They did a pretty good job with this one overall.

I have one of those. It started having problems, hopefully the parts from China get here soon so I can see if it will run again. Made really nice prints when it worked correctly, and I'm anxious to get it back up and running. If yours starts turning off for no obvious reason when it's printing or warming up, check the power switch. Don't turn the switch off and back on right away, rather just wiggle it and see it the power comes back on. If it does, then the switch is probably fubar. That's not the only problem I have had, but it's one that I got to the bottom of so far. You can probably get a free proximity sensor to replace the BL Touch, some up graded print head parts, if you're so inclined. You have to change from the individual bed magnets to a magnetic sheet.

Was it necessary for those supports to be printed? It didn't look like too long of an overhang to manage. Would have been nice to see it as an overhang test. Even my not-well-tuned Ender could manage covering that small of a gap.
I could've printed them upside down w/o needing any support (overhang angle is 45°), but I wanted the texture on all of the exposed faces to be consistent since I won't be sanding these down smooth. The texture that the HF plate creates is quite a bit different than what the edges and top printed layers look like. The gap designed for airflow on the back sides (bottom when on the plate) is over 50mm, so support was inevitable to span that. My Ender can barely handle spanning a 5mm gap without making a mess lol.
I totally get why you printed them in that orientation, just thinking that 50mm is a manageable overhang without supports. Obviously it's a moot point now, since you're done with the case, but if you get some spare time on the printer, you should try printing an overhang test to see what this guy is capable of. Though admittedly, overhangs are generally more difficult with PETG as compared to PLA. Though I'd bet CFPETG with 75 percent fan speed could manage 50mm

Wait, wait, wait. Not fair. The weight is in pounds and the printable area in millimeters (and the temp in Celsius). I know in USA you measure in bananas, but you'll have to keep it consistent!!!

Sad to say that, but pet parts are likely to leak water through. If U really keen to print watertight parts then take time to go through this topic on internet. I'm not professional but I had experience with 3d printed parts being very leaky...
Almost all filaments are hygroscopic, and without proper crosslinking and possibly post processing, almost all prints will leak with hydrostatic pressure (ie just the force of gravity alone). I've covered this in past posts/videos.
