Feeding OUR Animals From OUR Homestead

- We use weeds and sweet potato vines to feed our animals on our homestead. This is free food that is good for our animals. Chickens, turkeys, pigs, cows and goats will eat the Florida pusley and sweet potato vines. Danny opened up the back field and the goats and cows are clearing up the weeds that grew in the summer. Animals get free food and we get weeds cleared up.

Poor Wanda had her hands full with the three girls plus Hank. Everyone loves fresh greens. You can sure tell which pig is the boss.
It really takes awhile to get everybody fed in the morning, doesn't it? All the animals look very healthy and happy, especially Hank!
Love seeing all the animals I had to watch twice. They all look so healthy and happy. I think goats are my favorite animals they have so much personality. I love to sit under our trees and watch my goats play.

I do believe Hank thinks he is a goat! Sure do enjoy watching him and seeing all the animals.
We learned this year how tasty sweet potato vine was - rabbits keep eating them down to a nub, doubt we will get any potatoes. Sure wish we had a better way to deal with them - thought raised beds and a fence would do it, but nope! We had no issues last year and got tons of potatoes. Gonna miss them this winter.

your goats look great. I have a lot of trouble with parasites and mine eat a lot of hay.
Goats should only eat from the shoulders up and never eat when the grass is wet.

Danny I’m about to build a larger chicken coop, what flooring is on your coop. Can’t afford concrete do you think if I had hardware cloth at bottom going two feet out that it would be enough. I plan on stapling and connecting at bottom with wood

I see you got your landscaping team out in the back pasture. LOL. Years ago in southern California, the Department of Agriculture let loose sterile Med flies, Mediterranean fruit flies. Unfortunately, the med flies they let loose were not sterile. They made a bad situation worst. Sometimes I wonder if they ever had a lick of sense. They are always looking for the easy way out. What is needed common sense like letting goats eat their way through the problem. Enjoying your videos Danny, thank-you.

Christie Betts Also called Chinese Tallow, among other things. They spread like crazy from seeds and from the roots. Even knowing they're invasive, some idiots still actually plant these damned things! (my old landlord/buddy's dumb wife; now the state-owned wetland behind the property are thick with them. She also likes Brazilian peppers, because they're "so easy to grow"! They ought to be fined $10k/tree!)
CJ, true Tala’s are invasive but they are wonderful nectar producers for the honeybee.
