In 2004, Voitinsky said that "we shamefully refrained from participating in the war", mentioning that he himself wanted to go to Yugoslavia, but was afraid of being killed. As a Serb who lives in diaspora due to the collapse of Yugoslavia, this hits different. But there is no blame on the Russians, their country had just collapsed. They wanted to help but couldn't. Just keep rebuilding your strength, the conflict in Kosovo and Bosnia isn't over it's just frozen

Before that, they started a campaign of "greater serbia" where autonomy was taken away from autonomous regions, and eventually they wanted to divide Bosnia and Croatia into "serbian" regions. И да, она не смогла помочь с 91го по 2001й. Потому что сама распадалась и сражалась за то чтобы выжить, потому что сама страдала. Поэтому да, Россиия не смогла быть тогда рядом с Югославией. Но где Югославия была для России до 91го во время мятежей и распада СССР? Прикрутите фитилек с обвинениями, России нечего стыдиться из-за 90х.

Right from the get-go it was a bit of an ethnic war... the religious aspect being just one facet of it.
Yugoslavia could have worked had the succession after president Tito been handled a bit better and had the Cold War not ended when it did. Those two things cause a lot of internal instability, and with it a marked resurgence in nationalist sentiment that resulted in a rise in ethnic tensions...
But if somehow Yugoslavia managed to stay together for a generation or two more... who knows.
