- As a windows fanboy, I have never used a Macbook lol, so today I spent $400 on a Macbook to see if I could game on it! The FPS on Minecraft was very unexpected...

Your first mistake is buying a MacBook between 2016-2019 (crappy port selection, Touch Bar in the place of function keys, butterfly keyboard)

Cuz for that price you can't get anything better? It's a 400€ laptop..., an M1 macbook air is 850€ used all scuffed and shit, a windows machine for that price in a similar condition has an rtx 3060, 16GB of ram instead of 8... and even 512GB of storage, compared with the 256 I found on the macbook... It would still lose, why do you want him to compare his 450€ laptop with a macbook that's worth 2 times as much? Oh I know, cuz it's apple, so it has to cost more...
Yea that Butterfly keyboard and the crappy intel processors are the notorious features of 2016-2019 macs and im so lucky cause before i didnt know what mac is should get so somehow i played russian roulette with macs and ended up with the M1 MBA which become a very good decision.

as a permanent macbook gamer (minecraft java), i love the macbook performace. especially because minecraft is mainly cpu-dependent i get 500+ fps on lunar client 1.8.9 and 700+ fps on badlion client 1.8.9 launched with optifine (2 years old laptop and it rocks)!!!

bruh, 2 year old laptop, my 14 year old AMD Phenom II X6 1055T with 8GB of DDR3 and a 2014 budget GPU, the GTX 950 2GB ran 1.8.9 with just optifine at over 1300 fps, I have no idea what you're talking about... also, my 150€ new laptop from 2021, a chuwi laptop with 12GB of RAM and a celeron j4125 runs 1.8.9 with sodium at well over 90 fps, your mac was likely close to 1200€ at least... so it really isn't impressive if you ask me
tip: on new versions the canvas renderer is significantly better than sodium on m-series macs

@@dkoorse You're probably playing vanilla with high settings / shaders, what we're talking about is 1.8.9 (2014 version of minecraft) with a much improved engine that thing'll run well on just about anything from a dual core athlon from 2008 with no gpu to a 2010 high end six-core. Running it at 500 fps on a very very expensive mac isn't very surprising, it's pretty disappointing actually. I believe I could play on servers at around 120-180 fps with all of that on a frickin' i3 310M laptop with GT310M 512MB GPU, the laptop was also running win10 off an hdd back in 2015 and it also had 4GB of ram so the game really is about as easy to run as can be...

Being an old MacBook player myself, I can give out a few more details.
First of all, the problem with the macbook is the overheating. I remember my hand getting burned regularly after about 20 minutes of playing, and at one point, after letting my computer run for a whole entire night just to ask in a creeper farm, some weird juice came out of the computer while i was sleeping, as if something was melting from the inside.
The second problem is the fact that it’s old. My macbook was almost as old as yours, BUT mine definitely has more playtime. I remember, when i started playing minecraft, i would get around 150 fps, and at the end of using this macbook i was getting maximum 30. So my macbook’s performance was gradually becoming worse, and SO MUCH FASTER than other windows laptops.
And lastly, the fact that on a macbook you CANNOT run ANYTHING except your game.
My macbook would crash entirely just because i had Minecraft and Discord opened, and don’t get me started on playing while watching a youtube video.
For example, listening to music while gaming would make my computer stutter SO MUCH, it seems it was about to fly off.
Anyways, good video. (don’t buy a macbook)
You didn't limit your frame rate to something like 70 fps. My M2 macbook air can do discord while youtube only if you cap the FPS at 70, because without that, the FPS goes to like 200 with definitely heats it up.

I'am a mac gamer aswell i play CSGO and Minecraft but i have not seen my mac melting and burning.
and yours is from 2019 if im correct and mine is from 2015 but i think its because of the versions and blah blah and if the fan is making alot of noise... (which i had a problem with aswell) it might mean you havent cleaned the fans and if your macbook just crashs because of 2 apps it means there is something on the inside that is the problem and you wont notice on the outside.

Bro u compared a workspace laptop using 5 year old tech to a 2022 mid-range gaming laptop... not completely fair 🤣 Tbh tho, the M series chips, (which mind you were put into affect in 2021) are very effective at gaming. An M1 can run MC at 700 fps, at like 4k res or smthing . You can pick one of those up for 700$... so not even that bad.
I have an M3 Pro MacBook Pro for my Video editing and in my opinion, apart from intense gaming Apple Silicon changes the game.
Scrubbing through a 4K 30FPS timeline is super fast and I struggle to find anywhere where it can lag. Even if you spent £10000 on a Windows PC I think it still wouldn’t beat a Mac with Apple Silicon with FCP, Premiere (which is bad everywhere anyway) or Resolve. I get why people like Windows but for me it’s too unstable, laggy for my work and a fresh copy of MacOS is great, there are still lots of things that you can change but they are not necessary and it’s just so much quicker to get ready and working compared to Other Windows.
personally for the unstable and laggy part of windows, linux is a thing but unfortunately it hasnt matured enough to support mainstream programs yet.

Hey, a quick tip. I get that you already have a windows laptop and computer, but if you ever want, you can run windows 10 (11 unofficially) on any Mac (WITH AN INTEL CPU, but yours qualifies), in case you want/need to run any windows apps or games (such as Skyrim, which only released for windows on computers).

As a windows fanboy, something most people don't get is that windows laptops mainly focus on performance, bulkiness and customizability or I guess freedom. (At this point I'm talking about Linux windows isnt that free) whereas Macbooks focus on **work** Mainly professional work and another major thing is the life of the actual laptop. Everyone knows that macbooks last decades while windows laptops can sometimes last like 2 years if not taken care of properly. My aunt plans to buy a $2000 macbook and upon asking her why she immediately said that rather than buying a laptop every 5-8 years it's much better to buy one that last like 15 years. Mac is still capable of playing light games (minecraft and others) at 60+ fps and if you want to do heavy gaming and buying a mac, then you don't deserve the heavy gaming or the mac. And other then that I mean mac is a complete different os built for work so yeah.
Macs aren't really more durable.

I don't think anybody uses a Laptop for 15 years. Not only the battery will die in the next 5 years but the Software will also be outdated at a point where it doesn't make sense to use it anymore.
When your windows laptop dies, you replace the dead part. When your mac dies, you are forced to get a new one. My 2017 iMac could run macOS sonoma no problem. But apple decides that you can't. What most people do then is assume that their hardware is old, and have to spend another $2000 on a new mac. But windows also has problems. On windows, the idle resource usage is crazy. It's got the NT kernel, which isn't an issue for most people, but definitely an issue for me. It's much easier to brick. So I use arch linux :).

I use a Mac for minecraft, and it runs fine. With a few optimisation mods you can get it running even better. The fact that it also it still using and intel and not their M1 chip does make a difference as well.

The Macs that have Apple's Silicon chips work very well for supported games, I moved to a M3 MacBook Air from my 2017 MacBook Pro and it made that big of a difference.

A lot of light games can run run really well on MacBooks, if you have enough time to get it working. I am exclusivley on MacOS now as the state of Windows is just getting worse and worse. Geometry Dash, Roblox, Most browser games, Minecraft and even the latest version of X-PLANE works pretty decently on my 2015 MacBook Pro. (Quad-Core Intel Core i7, 16GB Ram)

I use a MacBook for gaming. I use parallels desktop to basically have windows installed on my computer. I have windows 10 installed. I can get android, linux and more.
FUN FACT:
I used to play minecraft java on a 10 YEAR OLD MAC desktop and got around 60 fps w/ optifine (i did not know how to make minecraft faster at the time other than optifine)

i get 500+ fps and that mans gets 100-150 fps but there are SO MANY FPS DROPS WHEN U MOVE ITS SO UNPLAYABLE. . I PLAYED HYPIXEL ON IT AND SUDDENLY THE FPS DROPPED TO 30 OR SOMETHING WHILE I EWAS GETTING 350-400
Testing the 4 year old Macbook Air (used) with M series chip would've been the least respect you could've shown for users for clickbait thumbail instead of an Intel chip one.
