      My 88' NA Auto 115K mile garage queen supra was $8K so I'm not sure they are as cheap as they used to be lol. Hell of a lot more reasonable than most cars though and it's pretty much everything I want. I can never stop gawking at how freakin' beautiful the car looks inside and out. It's kind of amazing.

    As a new 88' NA Supra owner I can say this body roll is very real lol. I'm thinking about getting some aftermarket swaybars put on and MAYBE coilovers too.
    Other than that it's pretty much the coolest car I've ever seen or owned.
    It looks absolutely stunning from the outside and inside IMO is better than the vast majority of cars new or old. The seats are legendary. This baby turns heads.
    EDIT: Have since put on Fortune 500 coilovers and a quality front swaybar, all new end link cables, and a rear strut brace myself. It's like an entirely new car, it handles like a dream.

    The 3rd gen Supra that you really want was only made in Japan, but you can now legally import it. 1991 Supra 2.5 R, had the twin turbo 1JZ-GTE engine under the hood, made "276" hp. Its bascially a 2.5 liter displacement version of the 3.0 liter 2JZ-GTE in the Mark IV Supra. You can use all the same hot-rodding tricks and parts to make huge horsepower.

    If it was available in the JZA70 trim model outside Japan it would have blown away the competition back in 1990 across USA and Europe.

    I didn't know about the extra radio antenna below the defogger on the hatch glass. I learned something after 23 years of driving a 1987 Turbo. Turbo cars came with ABS brakes. 0 to 60 is 6.5 seconds. It's overweight to be a nimble sports car. It's more about balanced style and performance than all out performance. I have the C's short shifter from Japan. Cost $250. I also have the Super monitor which was a $250 option over the stock clock. Many functions like fuel economy mpg, trip timers, when to change the oil. It was discontinued after 1988.

      @rushnerd Před 2 lety +1

      The shocks are actually extremely nice, but yes way too soft. Once you put modern quality coilovers in and a nice front swaybar, it's a completely different car. Zero body roll and is a complete blast to drive.

    My cousin bought one of these (new). He had the naturally-aspirated model that, if I remember correctly, still generated 200 HP. The Turbo made 230 (which was astounding back then!). I thought it was the coolest car in the world. But, by today's standards, it's funny to see how much body-roll and plow a car could develop (in the 80s) and STILL be considered a good handler.

You should see if you can pick one up soon before they inflate in value even more than they have in the last few years.

    When I was 18, in 2000, I bought a used 1987 Supra Turbo, Liked it so much I got a 2nd one. Sold them when I had my son. Now I only go for Toyotas, best reliability & I can work on them myself.
    Currently working on a 1994 Celica gt and a 1985 4runner SR5
    I can't recommend them enough, I've owned 29 cars in my lifetime & have had almost every make. So I've owned more than 1 brand of vehicle in my life. Hell, my 2nd car at 16 was a 1979 Camaro, then I had a 1979 Trans Am, a 1985 Monte Carlo SS, and a 1977 Trans Am before getting my 1st Supra.

      I've seen them for considerably less as well. But if you think about it, 100K miles in 28 years in a non-collectable car? That isn't much - a bit more than 3k miles per year. For a car that was built and often purchased as a daily-driver.
