SP392 The more stressed an engine is, the less reliable it will be; hence the extreme stock tunability of these cars that new cars simply don't have. But for that sake, V6 Camaro is 3.6L and makes just 14hp more than the facelifted 3.2 E36 M3, which is now 20 years old.

My problem with it was the bad build quality. After SIX months the ceiling cloth was hanging down, the door insides were lose . Until I got them fixed I had to hold the door itself when closing the driver side door otherwise I would rip off the door inside simply by closing the door. Basically a lot of stuff got lose or stop working (lights and so on). I checked with some other guys owning same model and many had the same sort of problems. If US auto makers would just make that little last bit of effort and implement better quality check they would be as good as any high end car company. OK, so they get a bit more expensive but it's worth it and sales would be higher. I never looked at another vette until C7. This one I think the engineers made the decisions and not the accountants. It looks great both inside and out, with high quality materials.

I think all of these cars look rather crappy today. This Corvette looked dated 21 years ago. It was a decade old. It was already time to bring the C5 to showrooms. The Supra and RX-7 have that distinct 90's smooth bubble design. The Stealth reminds me of that cheap "futuristic" look they tried to implement into other cars, like the Probe(ugh). The Porsche and Nissan look almost like regular vehicles. The Fox body Mustang, which was downright archaic by 1993, looked more extreme than either of those in its GT form.
With that being said, I'd bet a metric ton of money that all of them are still a fucking blast to drive.

It also leaves room for a future model which is more horsepower-oriented, so that they can do a mid-run refresh and improve the value of their development investment. All they need to do is insert a stronger motor, up the shocks and struts and put a new wheel/tire package and maybe make some more angry body work and they have a new model a few years on.

I was a Valet at a 5 star hotel which was built into the side of a ski mountain when I was in highschool until I graduated college (1996-2004).. I drove all these cars and they were all a blast to drive the 1/3 mile from a hidden parking lot up a strait away into two S turns. The best thing was that nobody could see you until you rounded the last corner at the top of the hill and pulled up to the front of the Hotel. It was an amazing job and I can remember driving each and every one of these cars. But to tell the truth, out of all of them, the real beast and ultimate drivers car was the 3000GT VR4. With it's twin Turbo V6, Awd, and 4 wheel steering, that car would stick to the road, pin you to the seats and just outshine everything else. The Supra's, RX7's, Vette's and Porsche's were a blast but as soon as you got into the power band, the back end would kick out and unless you wanted to drift, you had to let off the gas. The Bishi was something that made it's animal powerplant useable in all conditions and on all roads. We had an owner who had a red one with tan interior and every Valet called it the king. the consensus was that it was the best of all the sport cars we got to drive. I'd say that the only thing that rivaled it was this one crazy guy's early 90's caged 911 Turbo which was TUNED beyond belief ( He once told us that the titanium exhaust cost him $30,000! ) When looking at it with it's wide body kit and it's 305 rear tires, you knew to be careful with it. The one time I got on it up the strait away, I broke both rear tires free on hot dry pavement and as I let off the gas and glanced at the gauges, the speedo needle was dropping quickly past 150 mph as I was still spinning.. and I that was in third gear! Later that day, the Hotel manager had a meeting with all of us asking who left 50 yards of THICK rubber on the hill lol. I piped up and said that I heard a loud rev earlier in the day and then the white Porsche pulled up to be parked. "It had to be that guy" I said, Haha! He bought it and nobody got in trouble.. BUT! The next day, as the owner brought the car in to get parked, he said to my buddy, "I told you guys to be careful with this thing. It looks like somebody got into boost on the hill! I have friends with Vipers, Lambo's and Ferrari's and they wont drive with me in this because it scares them." 100% I believed him! Ahh the good old days :)

Those are the only two I'd care for at all in this list, the styling of the rest just doesn't work at all for me.
and what killed the rotary was the lack of education/training to sales staff, mechanics, and the consumer; and a few cut corners on reliability parts.
The only thing I couldn't get used to on the Supra was the headlights. Love the rest of the styling but something about those huge rounded things threw the look off completely for me.

The supra and rx 7 did not make it to the highly respected Car and Driver top ten list six years in row like the z32 tt did from 1990 to 96. It also had the best accelration in this test. Its styling has aged better than the flabby supra and the others here.i am pretty sure it outsold them too.
