As I watched a few of your videos, and now your Scandinavia series, I am taken back to my own youth. My family and I had a summer vacation place in Heiligenhafen, Germany (on the Baltic) and we sailed every summer through Denmark and Sweden in our very small Dehler made Varianta & Sprinta sailboats. So many wonderful memories came up for me as I watch your lovely documented journey. Thank you for bring back some joy and loving memories. I love your channel! So well made!

The final scene: Departing the Danish Dock, reminds me that in many places around the world the sailing community is a great community of decent, kind, helpful people. Here's hoping it stays that way. And, I believe it will.

The small towns you visited looked lovely, the high rise apartment blocks in Aalborg less so. I hope Denmark keeps its character and values. Good to hear boaters appreciate good harbours and facilities. In the UK, marinas are very expensive and overdeveloped.

As someone who has hiked, marched and ridden over much of this great green earth, having a nice snug boat to retreat to is hardly hardship. Stand firm because you’ve chosen a path where you have a safe place.

Hals is just next to my home habour! So much fun to see places I know. The two old ice breakers are for sale if you get tired of the small boat. ‘People’ are tired of looking at them, but after a sail in bad weather on Kattegat they are usually the first thing you can actually see when you approach Limfjorden. So to me they represent safety and I will be really sad the day they go.

Under "additional layers" in the Windy App, you can find a screen that forecasts lighting and thunderstorms. Here in (lighting prone) Panama, we generally avoid going out if forecast lighting strikes exceeds 0.1 to 0.5/Km2/day but, of course, we are often at anchor when levels far exceed that. The only real solution is for the boat to be well grounded (particularly the mast and shrouds). Steel and aluminum boats are, of course, naturally grounded.

Another lovely episode, Maya and Aladino. You make my Fridays! Oh! I caught Delos and One Life and Jibsea today as well but you have such a different vibe than most other sailing channels. And UMA in the Med yesterday!
Rafting. I worked at the Govt. Dock in Ganges, Saltspring Island, BC. one summer MANY years ago. NOT a "marina"! A Government created dock mostly for fishermen but used by cruisers as well. That was my introduction to boats and boat life on the salt chuck.
Only three long fingers in that harbour and rafting was a thing all the time. It was also very cheap to stay there. Ten cents a foot per night plus a $1 surcharge for garbage disposal/water etc. for the length of time you stayed. So a 30 foot boat would cost $4 for the 1st night and $3 a night for the next few. You were supposed to only stay a week or so. If you wanted shore power, which was BRAND NEW at that dock, it was another $1 a day.
I always thought that I would like to have a sailboat from my experiences at that time, but it never worked out for me.
I enjoy the adventures that you share and also am MUCH at home in the RAIN! Thank you.

"course towards the north" or course towards distant shores" both with Mikkel and his family. Now they live in a house with a view of the water in northern Zealand.
Mikkel is the son of a well-known Danish sailor, Troel Kløvedal. Try searching for his books, Troels has been around the world several times. And he has sailed on the Yangtze River in China.

@07:13 Nice to see the correct rules of etiquette followed without a hesitation. Always pass over the bow, never the cockpit!🤗
@11:03 For me, thunderstorms are only a potential problem when sailing on restricted waters, on open waters I used to sail around the edges to pick up the wind...
What worries me most is dense fog.😨
I remember a trip with the Najade, the (then) flagship of the Navy Yacht Club, in which I sailed at night from Den Helder to Dover with a number of heavy thunderstorms.
I was on deck with one crew member, all the rest of the crew slept tight, all night.
I used them to catch wind, perfect.😊
Later I heard that the same thunderstorms claimed 2 fatalities in their journey across the Netherlands....🤔
