    Another interesting and informative video Mark thanks.
    The MODMIC looks a great innovative idea and in certain scenarios would be ideal .
    I have an external sound card matched with a pair of Sennheiser gaming headphones with detachable mic so the MODMIC is not needed for me.
    When in VR i still use the Sennheiser headphones over the top of the Reverb G2 , the G2 sound is automatically cancelled out.
    So I'm enjoying the benefits of good sound in sim.
    Great intro by the way lol

    I can recommend the Astro A50 headset, I’m currently using the 3rd gen ones for my PC Simulator set up. I have been using various iterations of Astro for more than 5 years. They are an excellent set of headphones and the mic is good. Nothing wrong with a good set of gaming headphones for MSFS Flight Simulator. There are many good brands on the market just now Steel Series, etc, all worth a bit of research. Thank you Mark for this informative video.

    Nice solution! I am allways keen on good sound, I have my sim pc hooked up to a Yamaha RX 497 amplifier and JBL LX44 speakers, sounds really good, I use them also in VR (which I mostly fly in). Now my problem is this: when group flying on Discord, I often tend to take off my Reverb G2 to check Discord info or navigation info on screen, but then my buddies dont hear me. I bought a bluetooth wireless headset, with in-ear buds and built-in microphone, which sounds reasonably good, but: as soon as I start MSFS2020, the connection with the headset and Discord is lost. And that without the sim even using the bluetooth headset!!?? I therefore bought a cheap USB headset with in-ear bud + microphone. That way I never have to remove my headset when removing the G2. WIth the in-ear buds I also still can hear the sim through the LX44's. But ideally I would like to have a in-ear headset with a separate microphone that I dont have to remove from where it is, when I take off my G2. Some kind of on-desk microphone that picks up my voice but not the sim sounds would be good.
    But what mike could do that?
    Or maybe the Modmic could be stuck to the G2 and easily moved to a second mounting point on of my Saitek panels.

    Thanks again for another informative video, one thing I do wonder though, how much of an impact does the sound card have? If your buying decent speakers and headsets, surely they would be limited by the PC hardware, say if you where using on board sound from a motherboard for example?

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  Před 2 lety +1

      What you say is valid, however onboard sound in modern motherboards is generally of an acceptable, even high standard. Gone are the days for an add on sound card being a necessity, unless required for specific purposes. Audiophiles may disagree, but for most, and especially for flight simulation onboard sound is more than adequate. Regards

    I have the Reverb G2 headset, and have just started using Voice Attack + HCS aviator voice packs, and wonder if you think the Modmic is a good upgrade from the existing internal mic on the G2?
    I need to do more training on the PC for my voice etc., but if the recommendation is that the G2 mic is not really up to the task, I would like to know now rather than later!

    Another great video my friend, with some very good points made - thought provoking 👍👍✌️😊😊
    In the aviation world, using a set of Eg Bose QC35ii or QC45's you can add a mic for cockpit use (turns headphones into a headset). Several manufacturers do them and some are better than others, but you pays yer money and makes yer choice. However one of the neater ones is by AVEE (European) and they've not long started to do a home office type version add on mic too. Okay they're wired but they are removable and the convert the best ANR/ANC headphones, Eg Bose, Sony et al, into headsets. It's not cheap, but the quality is very good.
    I hope that helps some of your viewers👍🤞😊😊

    Thanks 4 posting, I'll look into that mic indeed.
    Question, audio related to msfs2020 in regards to Subwoofer.
    When I start a plane like a Piper, Cessna I do notice a nice loud Rumble through Subwoofer.
    Can hear & feel the vibrations Subwoofer gives off.
    Taxing is the same. It's really nice when I pull throttles back & engine is in idle I get the best subwoofer effects.
    But puzzling to me is once I go Full Throttle & heading down runway there's less & less Subwoofer and once Airborne almost no Subwoofer sounds or vibrations.
    It's almost as in subwoofer is off.
    Regular speakers still produce engine noises but not Subwoofer.
    Do you ever use a surround sound system with a subwoofer in MSFS?
    Look forward to you or anyone here with this thank you

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The vibrations decrease as the engine rpm builds, as is the case with most real aircraft.

    • @Mikinct
      @Mikinct Před 2 měsíci

      @@SimHangerFS great, thanks! 👍
      So, unlike a Subwoofer would using a product like the Butt Kicker only provide low rumblings while starting engine & taxing like subwoofer & hardly any once the plane leaves the ground?
      Or would you still have a decent amount of vibrations during the flight as well that the subwoofer doesn't do?

    I have an issue with the microphone not working in MSFS 2020. I bought two different gamers headphones. Then I purchased the Antlion Audio ModMic. The mic works in Windows 11. I can record with the Audacity recording program. The Windows setup shows the mic level is fine. However, when I go into MSFS, I can't hear my voice. I can hear atc and everything. Not the mic. What am I missing? Is there a push to talk key in MSFS? I have tried everything. It is not the mute switch, since the mic works properly outside of MSFS.

    • @Jestey6
      @Jestey6 Před 2 lety

      @@SimHangerFS This is unusual, I usually bow to your knowledge. But with the exception of a few bone conduction headphones, the rest use Neodymium, some are piezoelectric.
      Placing a powerful magnet very close to a headphone will affect the magnetic field produced by the magnets in the headphone, and this could affect the sound quality, or even damage the headphone.
      I accept that the magnet used to attach the Modmic will probably have no appreciable effect on the headphone.
