Just wondering…. Why choose for writing a letter to your neighbour in case of noise instead of talking to them? It will take some time before they read it… Or is it because they can be agressive?
It's really a thing I noticed people do here in Berlin.
When noises or something else bothers you, it can frustrate you so much that you're not able to just ring the doorbell and talk to your neighbour (or maybe, not in that moment). But you still want to get the message across. That's when folks choose to write a Zettel.
It becomes problematic when the tone on that note is passive aggressive, or you demand your neighbour do XYZ. And yeh, you have no idea how the other person will receive your complaint, which can be scary to think about. (Worst case they think, "I'm in my home, I can do whatever I want," then you're screwed)
I do think calming yourself down, then going there to talk face to face is the best solution (before trying anything else, at least). It's good training in communication skills, too 😄
