      While I mostly agree, it also makes sense that money-smart parents would raise money-smart kids. Especially if they own a business, the kid could keep it going with some acquired know-how and in that sense have a huge "head start."

    Thank you Dave!!! This mindset angers me. I worked at Wal-Mart for a few years, and started using the phrase "Walmart mentality". More than half the people I came across, didnt take any responsibility for the situation they were in, and blamed it on everything around them. This was a huge reason why I left. I couldn't keep surrounding myself with this type of thinking, and hoping it didn't rub off on me.

      I used to work at a Wal-Mart too and I totally agree. Worst part is that mindset permeates the entire company much further up the ladder than I thought - it wasn't just the minimum wage folks thinking that way; it was several layers of management too. In fact the upper management seemed to encourage it. Keeps the masses in line 🙄
      Very sad, esp. since from what I know of Sam Walton, that's not at all what his company started as/ what he envisioned.

I'm a liberal because I believe we should hold the government responsible for providing a certain benchmark for a quality of life, however the governments involvement (or lack of) should never influence the individuals ability to persevere in their own situation. I think college should be free and we as a society would prosper more if that was the case, however I don't use that as an excuse to not pay back my student loans and keep myself in the gutter.

    Dave says 'that's not what I meant' when talking about his tweet. But when responding to arguments that rich people get ahead by being dishonest or self serving he gives a really poor example. What about companies buying rights to life saving drugs and bumping the price by %1000's points? What about work places paying their staff as little as possible while giving themselves huge bonuses, not depending on performance? There are plenty of people who become wealthy and do it in an honest way. However there are also loads of wealthy people who got there by doing whatever it took to make money. It's easy to find a real world example if you look.

    • @pirizzo

      I can tell you the average person who makes a lot of money either has a corporate position that pays them a lot or starts a business where they bet the farm on an initial capital investment and it paid off. Both of things are pretty serendipitous. Incidentally, Dave never actually tells you what rich people do. Well, for starters based on my assertion they either fit into a corporate mold or they take pretty big risk, among a myriad of other qualities. Hard work is just one component. Smart financial decisions are just a single component. If Dave really knew what he was talking about, he wouldn't be a radio host because he would actually have a business, instead of just talking about business.

    Paid off my student loan of £2990 due to 3 jobs and gezelle intensity in only 3 months. Still over paying my mortgage and investing during that 3 months. Over here in England. Thanks Dave for the guidance /videos and book.

      Well in America we multiply our student loans so we play 30k instead of 3k. Tho I agree with you many people get into 30k debt because they enjoy college with drugs and parties. Until when they graduate and have to pay back the student loans. Your a very hard worker I wish I was dedicated enough to work 3 jobs. Good on you, cheers mate.

    It took me 30 years to fully realize that most people don't want freedom or social mobility. People who actually want that are an elite few, and you can't tell who they are by looking at them. Most people crave for someone to tell them they are nothing, and they will always be nothing. Then the pressure and responsibility are gone. Most people are happy with no money and no responsibility.

    Great video Dave. I believe self awareness is the key to sucesss. Money is just a tool that you use or lose. And the only commodity that is equal in life is time. What sets people's life apart is their thoughts. That's why information is key. Answers and knowledge are everywhere there if you ask the right questions and have the desire you'll seek and find them. The challenge is out of 168 hours in a week how many people that are not in education sit down and study. As the key to wealth building is contribution, adding value to the market place/other people's life. That's why the best investment you can ever make is in yourself. Because as you can become more you can have more. Jay Riley.

    I mean no one can say that capitalism is a perfect system or any other economic system. It is difficult to navigate through it if you’re not educated on how to live with it, and high schools don’t teach kids about real life stuff. So it all comes down to our foundation w/ education. Just sad :/

    • @Dan-vz7xu
      @Dan-vz7xu Před 5 lety +1

      Regulated capitalism is the best, where there are workers' rights, and there is some limit to what the wealthy can do. Pure capitalism was the early 1900's where immigrants and the poor where working 16 hours in mines, and children where working in factories, beecause there were no laws against this and no middle class existed. Communism in theory would be the best for humanity as a whole but it'll never work because there will always be greedy people and lazy people, leading to coruption and a failed system. Socialism can work in rare cases where there are small populations with the same ethnicity, religious beliefs, and social economic status. Finland is the closets thing to socialism that works.

      @@reymondjames1726 He said "ran", not "run". And who's saying every single business is ripping people off? All I hear is people saying the ones that do rip people off should be held responsible, not that the innocent ones should be punished. If someone in your neighbourhood murdered a man do you think he should get away with it because the rest of you are innocent? Probably not, the guilty shouldn't get away with their crimes
