      @jahikin Před 11 měsíci

      @@MushroomMagpie the rules are actually "mineral collecting and ground disturbance" are only allowed inside of the marked boundary areas. The same goes for neighboring Lord Hill which is also great for prospecting and directly next to this location deerhill. They are both on each other's Maps. They really don't care if you're digging or just walking around picking up off the surface, they don't want you to do it unless you're in the designated area. Better to follow the rules then work in the not allowed rules for the better of everyone involved now and in the future. All of us collectors guarantee there are better specimens in the not allowed areas but we don't go there. Same goes for private property. If you see something amazing leave it unless you have permission to take it

    I lived and mined in Maine for 14 years. I did go to Deer Hill once, but did not find much. In all, I visited 12 mines during my time in Maine. We spent most of our time at the Newry and Mount Mica Mines. We went to the Bennett Quary, the Harvard Quarry, and a bunch more that I can't remember. One funny thing that happened is that we had friends who lived in Georgetown which is where the pegmatite band that goes through Maine and into New Hampshire ends, and we visited there for a weekend. The next morning, I got up and went for a walk on the road, and I started finding black tourmalines, aquamarines and a bunch of other stuff. I thought "wow" these people built their house on a gold mine! As it turns out, there is a quarry right at the edge of the water, and we found out how to get there. We went the next weekend, but didn't find anything. I really wanted to walk on the private roads of the people who lived around there because there are probably a bunch of great minerals in their roads!

    Stow, Maine is a pretty area. You should head Down East to Machias, Maine. They have a beach called "Jasper Beach". I'm in Hancock County, so not as far Down East. Lots of quartz and pink granite in my area.

    I just found my first quartz vein and am finding amethysts and quartz crystals in arizona. They are all over the surface, but nothing huge yet. Beautiful purples everywhere. I was getting discouraged because they are smaller and I don't know what I'm doin yet. Then I watched this video and it made me feel better. I was finding barbells and sceptors and breaking them not even knowing that "sceptors" were a thing. It made me realize I know less than I knew. So this was a great tutorial for me. I need to get a screen and go through the dirt. I have a 50 ft by 25 ft run over a vein that I'm pulling them up on the surface. Is it most likely they're under the dirt? And do they get bigger and more clear under the ground? I really need some guidance. There's also some nice green kyanite crystals.

      @TheCrystalCollector  Před 2 lety

      Oh wow that’s super cool! Yeah the Amethyst don’t usually get big in that region but they can be really cool scepters and super formations! But at the same time you never know when it’s going to get big! Keep digging that’s really cool, love to hear the updates!

      @@TheCrystalCollector What?!!! The Crystal Collector himself replied back! What?!! I've been at it since this last comment and I've found some head scratching stuff. Would love to show you pics. I have no help. You are right. All I've found is smaller amethysts and crystals. I found a huge plate I don't know if its calcite or not. I have regular purples but I'm going after these amazing flourecent/ irradacent purples. They look like they would glow in the dark. I'm finding so much on the surface. I saw your video here and started panning/ sifting and everything seems to be 6 inches or less. They are all over the bluffs or ridges. They seem smaller and roundish. I did some research and I read the smaller ones are likely from under the ground not a vein
      But there's a huge vein all the way up next to it. Ive been at it 24/7 looking for the source. I'm always saying if only the "crystal collector" could see he'd know where to dig. I'm following the crystals and it lead me up to the top of the mountain and found more and more. But this one area has a ton of bright flourecent purples everywhere. I dug in the vein and was finding pieces that have what I've been calling windows, where the quartz is crystal clear in areas. The quartz is shaped like crystal and even. Im literally doing this 24/7 so I appreciate your reply. I really don't watch much anything else but man I watch your channel amd admire what your doing and am a huge supporter of your channel. I'm trying my best to understand it but its beyond me. I believe I have found a nice spot for me anyway and have found things no one else knew existed here. The kyanite crystals are amazing too. Pyrite is everywhere. Just a few pics and I think you would know what's going on.
