In December, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services found Greater Manchester Police failed to record about 80,000 crimes in a 12-month period and closed cases without proper investigation.
Former chief constable Ian Hopkins resigned after the force was placed in special measures, and successor Stephen Watson told a recent press conference vital improvements would be made rapidly.
But a number of GMP officers have spoken to BBC Newsnight to allege serious failings within England's second largest force.
Newsnight’s UK Editor Katie Razzall reports.

This is so true if no one died then they don't even bother investigating the crime! Then the criminals just keep on with the burglary or thefts etc

Leeds is the same, got drug dealers just parked in the street daily & whats the point in reporting it - They would only have to set up a camera in my bedroom window & heroin dealers would be caught.

We need pro active policing not reactive. The police don't care till it's too late.

Disgraceful GMP, too busy investigating thought & non-crimes rather than serve their public.

Funny that this didn’t get covered a couple of weeks ago, BEFORE Andy Burnham won his Mayor position for Manchester again!

After all of this, only the Cheif Constable has resigned. All the senior officers should be sacked and prosecuted for negligence and Misconduct in Public Office.

I’ve been robbed and had all my equipment stolen By the same people time and time again. It’s a gypsy site in Bolton, this police force of Greater Manchester is the biggest waste of taxpayers money in the country they have let me down and countless other of my friends down time and time and time again. I can tell you 15/29 stories about how the police don’t even bother to report or investigate the crimes it’s so depressing it actually made me ill.

We've all been through this, many times. Our justice system are the laziest overpaid civil-servant-bureaucrats on the planet. Not fit for purpose. SACK THE LOT OF 'EM, I say.
