    The guitar sounded wonderful on the solo at the end and for 80 quid if you have the skills to do it it's got to be a brilliant deal. I bought a little flat pack sideboard thing a few months back to keep my gadgets and whistles in and had a bit of bother with that so I think I made the right choice getting something where the most difficult thing was looking for a knife to open the box.

      The decision has been made. Just put my order in for some vintage goldtop nitro, and black for the back/headstock. Bring it on.. 🙂

    I'm not sure if we both built one after Brent did, or if you did it first, but you guys inspired me! I'm trying to catch up with the mad science. I love what you guys do. It shows how much potential is in these instruments if only we're willing to be a little adventurous. Brilliant work!

      Thanks. Me and Brent ordered about the same time, we went different ways with the finishing though. Thanks for your support :-)

      @@TheLambLive thanks for sharing your knowledge. And btw the commentary during the time lapse was really hilarious. Throwing the middle finger at a project is something we all can relate to, but for me, the bucket of tools anecdote was great. We suffer from a lack of dryness as well as an irony deficiency on this side of the Atlantic, so that makes my day. Also thanks for showing me how to play that solo!

      Thanks dr-nerd. It turned out great, hopefully I don't ruin it when I paint it. 😁

    I've just built the DC (SG type) and after seeing a lot of reviews mention how much of a pain in the arse getting the switch to work properly I used my own wiring, partly because wiring diagrams are readily available on the net but also because I was using splitable Wilkingson pickups, upgraded switch and pots, including push/pull pots.

    • @TheLambLive
      @TheLambLive  Před 4 lety

      You made a good move there. 👍
      I replaced all the wiring in mine with something more akin to 50's wiring. It made the guitar sound much more open, and the spectrum analyser confirmed it. The wiring that comes with these kits is very poor.

    Wow! It sounds realy Paulish! And in opposite to the DC kit i baught, the body seems to be hard enough to hold the strapbuttons 😉. Can't wait to see how you finish it. Thx for sharing that awsome solo...... Don't let me wait long for the next please. 🤘🖖☮️

    • @TheLambLive
      @TheLambLive  Před 4 lety +1

      I actually had a problem with the strap buttons.. they hadn't provided an appropriate screw for them. The provided ones just slipped down the pilot hole so I had to find my own screws. The wood seems great though. Thanks for the support,, glad you are enjoying the videos. 👍😁

    • @guenterbortz5957
      @guenterbortz5957 Před 4 lety

      @@TheLambLive Yes, i had to take my screws too. But i decided to leave the DC without strapbuttons cause the screws came out and took a lot of wood with. The pretty good neck didn't fit in the body, i had to sand the pocket quite a lot. Same as the PU routings. And even when handled with care the body takes a lot of scratches. It looks yet very "vintaged" but sounds good! And it is easy to paint with a solder iron. The face looks good on it! I'm not sure how to finish it. Oil would look good but maybe a acryl finish may help to harden it a bit so the scratches can't go so easy. No hurry, i will wait and see what comes my way by stepping in a hardware store. How would you finish yours? I hope you will show it some day.....☮️

    • @TheLambLive
      @TheLambLive  Před 4 lety +1

      @@guenterbortz5957 My plan is to do a vintage goldtop finish with a black back and sides. I'll leave the neck as it is except the face of the headstock will be black too. I've ordered all the required lacquers, but I've never done this before so it could make for an interesting video. :-)

      Thanks very much 😁. The sound is all 'in the box'. I'm using the Line6 Helix Native plugin running in Presonus Studio One.
