- Kandinsky abstract art is very interesting to take a closer look at, especially his Color study squares with concentric circles. In this video I will paint like Kandinsky and will paint Kandinsky circles art. The Vasiliy Kandinskiy or Wassily Kandinsky painting color study squares with concentric circles is a very simple idea, it looks also very simple, but when you start making your own version of a Kandinsky concentric circles, you will notice how many options you have. When you look at the original Kandinsky painting, you will see he messes around and so can you. But when using different colors, every painting will look like an original Kandinsky circles. So what is keeping you to make a Kandinsky painting? When you make Kandinsky circle art, you can use it later as a reference tool.

I prefer to work on multi-purpose paper, more info in this video: • How to choose the RIGH...
In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

This would be a great warm up exercise, or way to get through an artist’s block, and of course a painting in its own right.
Hi Denise, yes, I agree. The exercise can have many purposes and also be 'just' a painting. Also wonderful to do. Have a nice day Albert
Today my Professor introduced us to these Kandinsky's circles. He told us it works its combinations related to the color wheel, so he suggested us to be aware of this ! Thank you for showing more examples! I am studying Visual arts ! I am loving it! 🇧🇷💡Think outside the box
Hi Isabel, thanks. Yes, it's a very interesting painting or color study. You can look at from so many angles and still see new things. But the best thing you can do is paint one yourself 😉 you will notice different things, I won't spoil your fun. Just do it. Happy painting, Albert
I love this. Thank you. I bought this Kandinsky print to brighten up my office wall during COVID when Zoom meetings went crazy. Recently, I've come to realize how lovable circles can be for me as I've been exploring the art of Yayoi Kusama. So, a study in color but so much more!
Thanks, Mary. Indeed, circles are lovely with lots of positive aspects coming with them. I really recommend making your own version. You will love them even more. Albert
O, I like it so much, It's interesting for all ages. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Irena and enjoy making your own version because that's what it's all about. Albert
I have done several works like this over the years. A great structure for exploring
Hi Susan, thanks. Indeed, excellent to do this from time to time. Could be interesting to put them next to each other and investigate changes. Bye, Albert
Lol
This is exactly what I need to do to experiment colour combinations.
By the way sir, I enjoy watching your videos.Thank you very much.
Hi Edmar, yes and it is such a simple exercise and I enjoyed making it. Lovely to hear you like the videos. Have a great day, Albert
A friend of mine asked me to paint this exact painting of Kandinsky for him on 3ft X 4ft and i was like from where to start and then i found this clip of your, what a relief.
Thanks a lot a big help.
Hi Nadeem, thanks. Great to hear the video helped you. Thanks for sharing your story. Enjoy making yours. Albert

Completely right Sandra, and it's fun to do too. Albert
Thank you explaining this excercise.
My pleasure Leila, it's fun to do, I recommend trying it yourself. Albert

@@ImperfectPaintings I am! Made some nice colorful pyramid sketches on wooden planks
Sounds interesting. Lovely to hear.
This is exsacly what I need to do for my cass
Hi Beenish, lucky you. It's fun to do enjoy. Albert
Hey Albert!
I just listened to a Kandinsky lecture on his ability to "hear colores'. LITERALLY. I wonder what he heard with his colored circles in squares? Each one a chord? It makes you wonder right? Billy Joel, Marilyn Monroe, and many others have this same ability. Wow.
Milly Young
Hi Milly, thanks. Yes it's interesting. I can't wrap my head around it, how would that be, to hear colors? So I leave and just enjoy his paintings. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Albert
Leuke, leerzame video Albert!
Fijne dag verder, Albert
Ok this is going to get weird. I see these colours and shapes when I wake during the night. My doctor said it's a type of hallucination. I believe it's related to one pill I take called Olanzapine. My challenge is that I'm colourblind and it's difficult to reproduce.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it greatly..
Hi M P, thanks. I have no knowledge of health issues. What I do know is that colorblindness doesn't have to stop you from painting. Including an exercise like this one. Take the colors you like and paint. Learn to trust you intuition about mixing, or try new things and make it look interesting for you. Perhaps paint what you see at night. Who knows you could have fun with it. Bye, Albert
Imperfect Paintings thank you Albert
M P Have you seen the glasses that help you see colours?
I’ve done one on canvas with triangles....How do put the finished paper in the frames? Do u glue to canvas?
Hi Cliff, interesting idea with triangles!
I have a frame with a foam board and use little pieces of masking tape to temporarily put my paper in a frame to take a picture for my video. It is always the same frame, only a new painting on paper and new pieces of tape. Does this answer your question? Or did you mean something else? Bye, Albert
i just recreated this on my kitchen table!! would love to show you, do you have an instagram or something? Thank you for all your incredible videos!!!
Hi Sab Sta, thanks. Yes you can find me on Instagram: AlbertvdZwart. Looking forward. Bye, Albert
Hello Albert :) I took up painting during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Found your channel recently and love how you explain things and tell us a bit about the artist's background. Also enjoy seeing your students' paintings very much. Cannot wait for more videos :) PS: Is there a reason behind choosing acrylic paint for this particular excercise? Would it also work with oil?
Hi Lucie, thanks and lovely to hear. I use only acrylics because I don't have the time to wait for oil paintings to dry. It's as simple as that, just practically. For some paintings the first layer has to be dry to continue, but not this one.
The next video is an invitation to paint again. Perhaps you like to join. Happy painting, Albert
One question: Did you mix the acrylic paint with water or not?
Hi Edmar, no never. It would ruin the paper. Are you going to do it yourself? Have a nice day, Albert
Thank you. Yes I did it and I was happy with the outcome.
What brush size is that your are
using?
Hi Conland, thanks. I used a 10mm brush (synthetic). Albert
do you sell paintings
Hi Kenny, thanks for asking, but no. Why, if I may ask? Albert
