    This FD was the first bridge ported rotary I've heard in person, absolute music to my ears and Derek is one badass dude too

    could anyone explain what bridgeporting is and what's full and half

    • @Dude13450
      @Dude13450 Před 2 lety +3

      Bridgeporting is adding "eye brows" above the secondary intake ports. It alters the port overlap, the port timing and generally allows for more air flow while still allowing the apex seal to glide across the iron (hence the term BRIDGEport).
      As far as full/half. Full bridgeports can be pretty gnarly for daily drivers due to shifting the power significantly higher in the RPM range at the cost of your already non-existent low RPM torque, making anything 3k RPM and lower virtually unusable. This is why with a full bridge port, you will normally hear the engine blipping fairly high to come off the clutch. A half bridgeport gives ALMOST the same potential as a full while not carrying that side affect nearly as bad as well as a few of the other "reliability issues".

    What does he change at 1:55 in order to slow it a little bit down?

    • @roamingsmith3437
      @roamingsmith3437 Před 4 lety +5

      The motor just warmed up, he didn't change anything

    • @rodovelazquez
      @rodovelazquez Před 4 lety +4

      @@roamingsmith3437 Listen carefully near that time. When he starts the engine, it braps slowly, and it warms up so it spin faster. But near 1:53 he changes something in the car, and says "that's where it's supposed to be", and after that it braps slowly again

      It definitely is interesting. My full bridge fd idles wayyy higher and I've always been instructed that higher idle is better for the seals. Premix of course. Lower idle "sounds better". Mine does this cold idles around 1100 to 1300. Warm about 1800
