It's astonishing looking at the end product and then realising how it is built from cast off bits of plastic.

That airship looks great. The best part is that you were able to reuse the sprues that would normally be thrown out.

Have you ever considered making the base structure of things out of sprues then using something like milliput to create the detail/smooth panels.
I think a mixture of sprues/some sort of mouldable epoxy and then some spares/kitbash parts would make for an insanely professional looking piece.
Hiya, yeah that would look awesome but for this build I wanted to just use sprues where possible =)
I was going to recommend the frame for this product from spruces and hot glue cardboard panels for the hull. Then the deck from stirring rods.

You Sir, are a F***ING Genius :-D I am always inspired with every tutorial you make, and now finally have so many good ideas as to what to do with all the left-over sprues I have from painting other people's minis and vehicles. I learned years ago to shave sprues and mix the shavings with liquid poly to make gap filler, and seeing your home-made goo has given me so many wonderful ideas, I am now making all kinds of things out of my own goo :-)

If the number of sprues ever permit it, how about taking a crack at building a full size waaagh boss? Saying that Iâd imagine itâd be a pain trying to keep it anywhere except outside the front door to scare off posties and burglars!
I could have sworn this was Paul Merton đ Fabulous work, so creative and the melted sprues are genius (I'm off to melt down my stash) đ

Awesome Build, love the way you make the panels with rivets, as I have been using plastic sheets and making my own rivets with a punch set, I model mainly Catachan Soldiers, I have over 4500 soldiers and a few dozen vehicles and war prizes that the Orks left on the Battlefield, as I do game, I love painting and converting Soldiers and Vehicles. I love the hobby, I will drop the name Victoria Miniatures they are in Adelaide SA, and they price everything in USD as most of her customers are in the USA. Arr. Nice looking vessel me hearty.
This method for making rivets from the semi soft panels is brilliant - looks even better than the hole punch rivets.
Also, the unique texture you get from the gooey mixture is perfect for the balloons! My one suggestion would be that the balloon needs a few fabric patches here and there to give it a real Orky look. Maybe you could use a similar technique to the rivets to make a stitch-like pattern around the patches!
Finally, have you tried working with oil paints? A brown oil wash over the metal panels would give it a great grimy look
Thank you and yes the rivetts have to be the easiest to make and I think the size is better than the larger hole punch ones, yup a few patches on the balloon would have been good. I havent used oil paints but might look into that cheers =)

Pal, thats amazing. You should try to do a Tau or Eldar vehicle to try and achieve smooth, clear and somewhat polished metal. All your sprue goo panel have a wrinkly texture. The sand paper head for your drommel also a bit too abrasive to smooth out the plastic.
I love how cram in a lot of detail into these diorama builds, the end product always looks amazing.

You should experiment with MEK. It'll dissolve the sprues into a gel consistency that would be good for casting. It's what a lot of plastic glues are made out of. Make sure to wear gloves.

First of all... This looks hella great and I love it. Honestly I never thought of making a diorama before, but this made me want to try... And I'm such an amateur at the hobby that I shouldn't make suggestionsa at all, but I can't help it. So I have to make it sure up front. I love your content and this was an amazing video.
But I do have to say I'd really like to see you sand some parts smoother a bit. I know for the Ork aesthatic you prefer everything looking rough, but some parts being smooth would've totally made the diorama better, imo. For example, I loved that the balloons were wrinkled at the ropes so it did look like fabric being held back. But I think you could've smoothen the top parts of it a bit more so it really looks like it's filled with air that would burst out if you poke it. Also the cannon at the front felt and looked a bit too janky(or junky), giving the piece a much more "This was really made by nearly unusable sprues, isn't it?" feeling, which makes you feel like it's great for what it is but I'd love to see it become something that could've been an official GW model.
The only other thing I would add is maybe try using some matt varnish on the balloons, so they look like fabric, and just watch out for highlights because someplaces it felt like everything is just too shiny.
Once again: I'M NOT SAYING IT'S BAD, OR I COULD DO BETTER. I THINK IT'S AMAZING. But I honestly think, with just a bit more you could've made it pop even more. All in all, I loved it and gave me a few ideas. And I hope you don't take it in a bad way.

That octopus shows great potential for tyranid builds. Ether a big scary monster bug or maybe a tyranid building, like the spawn pits from dawn of war 2.

I abso-freaking-lutely love the builds. But I cant help it; even orchs have to arbide by the laws of physics. The ballon is sorta forward leaning, wich in itself could be explained by the direction of the wind/heading of the vessel. But then theres the flag that points in the opposite direction.. ??. Im sry, my OCD kicked in.TY so much for a very inspirational and entertaining vid. Hats off for the ideas and creativity on display here. Liked and shared(subbed long time ago ;))

Can I make a suggestion for water bases going forwards? Mix some cheap white paint with some pva glue and sprinkle in some baking soda. makes an excellent white water frothing effect

You could have tried using some real balloon to make the balloons. If you just put the putty mix over them, like how paper mache is done. It would have made the balloons lighter without all that structure!
Perhaps an Orkish lorry/tanker madmax/Death Race style as a project? If not too similar to the Battle wagon.

You are a Legend man! These sprue goo builds are awesome! My only concern is if that plastic is toxic after melted with acetone or the fumes or anything.... any idea? Great channel you got my sub
Thank you so much, I wouldnt suggest eating the plastic lol but the acetone evaporates as soon as it comes into contact with air so after about 24 hours there is no acetone left in the plastic, the only time I can smell the acetone is when the lid is off the jar which is why I always keep it on =)
@@MiniatureHobbyist so does this acetone tricks work with all polystyrene? I understand that 100% sprue is your deal and it looks great and works for you, but Could I just order polystyrene sheets and heat them up with like a hair dryer to get the same kinda panels you get?

question : I tried on a bit of sprue to see if it works (yes, obviously) and how it works. Is it normal to increase in size a bit ?
