DUDE!! You have NAILED IT!!! I'm Italian, lived in London 30 years and I have this weird London-Italian accent, which given my job (lawyer) I want to get rid off (it also changes depending on countless factors). Looking for videos to help me - always - sound 100% British, I came across yours and I am blown away by accurate it is. It's 100% the circularity that makes one sound Italian, amazing!
I am incredibly grateful for this! You are an incredible coach, brother 💫
I got stuck in the Transylvanian accent for a sec, though 😂
Dracula lost another victim...
As an Italian, I confirm you absolutely nailed it, Jim! Excellent video and excellent channel. Subscribed!
I was quite surprised when you started sounding 100% like my Italian dad speaking English! I thought it was just his manner of speech but it’s just the different intonation. I almost started looking around to see him:)))
Great work Jim! That Transylvania part had me laughing so much 😃
It's like you made this video specifically for me XD
I make them all just for you.
Wow I love these stuff sm! ✨ Italian accent's pleasing to hear 🖤
Love your videos
Lol I'm learning now italian .. literally I'm studying it now!!!
I'm finishing up a revamp of the Italian materials right now myself! If you already have them, you'll get the update for free when it's out in the next few days. (This is the Italian ACCENT for actors - not language learning, just in case that's what you're actually working on!)
Please do a video where you cycle through and physicalise all the accents you've ever analyzed. That would be extremely fun. A-Z of accents 🤣
Wow !!
Hoping this helps. Only starting to try pick up some phrases etc for a trip over there later in the year. My monotonous Irish twang isn't helping 😅
Long time no see you, Sir!
Wow, I never imagined Italians had this kind of accent. I'm Italian so I've never noticed that I have an accent like that. It's really very strange to know.
Great Jim! As an Italian you're accent is spot on. Do you have any suggestion to soften the Italian accent?
I would suggest less thinking about softening or stopping an accent, and more about taking on another accent. If there's an accent you want to move towards (instead of moving away from an accent), consider the intonation and placement of that other accent, and then the vowel and consonant sounds. It's much easier to do something different than to NOT do something.
@@AccentHelp Thanks a lot. The point is that sometimes is difficult to reproduce a sound that is not part of your "inventory". I'm thinking about the way the british pronounce the r, for example. A sound I find quite difficult to articulate. I'm going to watch other videos of yours and try to improve my pronunciation
@@LanguageQuirks Absolutely right, and I love your wording: That the sounds are not in your inventory. It can take a lot of work and focus to expand that inventory...
Tell us [ˈʌsə] about [əˈbaʊ̯tə] the schwa insertion [ɪnˈsɜːɹʃənə] as well [ˈwɛlə].
