I think the word play is "I'm ill" as in sick cause yk "dis-ease" and 'il' (일) means 'one' and also 'work' in Korean
And also, I am "cool", 90s hip hop style. So if you think about it, not only is it a quadruple meaning, they can go in pairs. I am sick, but also my disease is work. BUT ALSO I am super cool cause I am number one (Dynamite woop woop).

What is the meaning behind this song?
jhope: " I think it's a title with great impact under the current circumstance. The beginning of this songwriting was the idea that everybody has a sort of chronic, psychological disease. In my case, when I was given a rest during the pandemic, the rest was not wholesome. It was something very insecure and uneasy. It was a disease of our own profession. BTS is good at overcoming difficulties I think. So we wanted to share this message of hope and positivity in the song called 'Dis-ease'"

We really got Producer J-hope on the track- plus Jimin wrote and composed the bridge in 4 minutes. They're absolutely INSANE!
First of all, "I am ill" holds a quadrouple meaning, not only does it refer to sickness and being cool in English, but also to work and being number one in Korean. It can even be seen in pairs! The translation for the chorus is correct, it is about treating illness, or recovering. Another wordplay that was missed was that disease in korean also means bottle, and both Suga and RM referred to it. You should read up on doolset's blog, there is even more wordplay, especially in J Hope's part! Fun reaction as always, guys

There's a lot of explanation about RM's word play on "ill" but I don't think anyone has explained about the "rotten rope" part in J-hopes verse,.. FYI it's actually related to a Korean folktale. I made an explanation video on that if you're interested in knowing some more about it. :D
