- After almost two years the Hotel Mario Reanimated Collab is finally here. Eighty different animators have worked together to reimagine scenes from the infamous Hotel Mario game on the Philips CD-I.

0:10 I think almost nobody will really get what they're looking at here, but this is probably the clip that stood out the most for me. It's a thoroughly exacting replica of the super lazy style of animation in the "post-golden age" 60s when animation competency cratered due to the disappearance of the industry from movie theaters. There's even some film judder and a bit of grain. It's just beautiful.
I thought the same thing! It immediately reminded me of the old Rocky & Bulwinkle, Fractured Fairy Tales and Dudley Do-Right cartoons.

I 100% understand what you mean by this, I love watching this one series on these 500 episode discs, one of them was Hoppity Hooper, and it used that exact artstyle in some way, it was amazing
@@JustSomeone41296 I just looked up some clips of _Hoppity Hooper_ on CZcams and that's exactly it. That early/mid-60s cheap look. Obviously this was way beyond our time but I am at least familiar with the look of _Rocky & Bullwinkle_ which is probably the most well-known example of this particular cheap style.

Hotel Mario really is a legendary demonstration of how the internet can band together to totally reimagine a trainwreck of a game into its own beloved universe. Scenes that would've been regarded as the usual corny stuff that one guy may have been unlucky enough to see in 1995 and thereby doomed to be forgotten now stick with us as scholarly animated masterpieces.
For instance, the opening where Mario and Luigi walk into the Mushroom Kingdom immediately followed by Bowser's laugh is permanently etched into my brain as a reminder of the golden age of CZcams, knowing how much those few seconds have been elaborated on by a giant crowdsourcing of passionate experimental video editors in a time where using anything beyond Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, or anything else on that tier automatically made you an elite. The Zelda CD-i games are no different; for 13 years, I still want to know what King Harkinian will end up having for dinner... and I know you heard that word in his voice.
To all those who collaborated on this project and worked on so many classic CZcams Poops in the golden years and those that follow, bravo, and thanks for providing me with many years of laughter under this unconventional style of entertainment that cable television would've _never_ offered to quench my particular cravings.

Everyone did such a great job on this! The different animation styles are just so fascinating to watch.
*EDIT:* Shout out to Harvey Rothman and Quentin Tracy/Sils_the_Schmuck (sorry I missed you the first time, Sils!) in particular for reminding me of "Rocky & Bullwinkle" and "Peabody & Sherman", respectively. I have very fond memories of that entire show, so I love seeing modern animators keep its style(s) alive. SmashMotionTV's segment also brings "Gumby" to mind, though I don't remember ever watching that show.
