Hair is affected by testosterone but your genetics dictates how your hair responds to the testosterone. Basically, you can have low T and be super hairy and you can have pro bodybuilder testosterone but can't grow a mustache. Also testosterone induced hair growth/loss is permanent so you can grow a beard at 20 and still grow at 100
most asian typically don't have much facial hair, usually they only have mustache and batch of hair on the chin, in my case i have a decently grown mustache but anywhere else like on the cheeks and stuff only have tiny little hair that you can feels if lightly touch but you can't see them, that said i'm like 15 so maybe they'll grown out someday
No, dihydrotestosterone is what affects hair growth/loss. DHT is what fuels body hair growth (beard, pubes, chest hair, ass hair, etc.) but it also is what can damage the hair follicles on your head and induce androgenetic alopecia (the most common form of balding in men). You aren't totally wrong though as DHT and normal testosterone are both androgens. And higher testosterone levels are associated with higher DHT levels as testosterone can convert to DHT. Which is why a common side effect of TRT use is balding from increased DHT levels

I think every one should get their testosterone levels tested every so often. 25 year old male here, got mine tested, and it was dangerously low. Full transparency, I don't know what my free testoterone levels were, but I was at 137 ng/dL. Normal range is 300-1000. I eat well, exercise, not stressed, sleep well, etc. But it's also been hard to put on lean muscle and lose weight. It's been difficult to gain strength. I am constantly tired. I've been severely depressed. I believe it would do you well to get it checked.
Totally agree with this. Getting this tested should be done at least once a year. And to say one thing, I’m not 100% sure, but I believe 300-1000ng/dL is just the average, not necessarily what’s supposed to be normal/healthy. I think that’s 600-1000ng/dL. And of course this is not including men 40 and up, where T levels naturally drop.
They say low T can cause depression in men. It’s a real chicken & egg situation though, as to if depression or initial low T levels cause one or the other. I wouldn’t worry about it so as to take artificial Testosterone/TRT from a doctor tho. Maybe it’s just the bodybuilders, but you can go infertile from replacing endogenous testosterone that your body naturally produces.
Testosterone actually has little to do with hair growth. The follicles sensitivity to testosterone is the deciding factor. You could have relatively low testosterone and still have alot of hair if you're follicles are highly sensitive to testosterone. Conversely you can have relatively high testosterone and low sensitivity resulting in less hair.
bruh for real? I went to my doc thinking I had low testosterone bc my hair is thinning ,the result for serum testosterone came back 30.4 nmol/L (idk what that is in US units). I've always struggled putting muscle on too so idk if my thyroid or adrenal glands are fucked or what lol

Hair is primarily genetic. There are some influences T can make but you primarily will show whatever your genetics allow for. Yeah I would recommend them to get blood tests instead through a doctor. That way they’re sending it to a reputable lab, not some company that’s probably less than ten years old and is using spit (very inaccurate and prone to variations and falsities) instead of blood.

Did the same over a year ago. Reactions from people were either "why? there's something wrong isn't it?" or "ugh, are you trying to prove something?". All I wanted to do was to check up on my health, like people are supposed to do from time to time. The results were that my testosterone was normal, not too high not too low.
Same thing happened to me except my levels came back as if I was a 80 year old man. Did continued follow up testing for over a year and half plus to be sure, and not one came back in normal range, all were low. I am on TRT now and could not be happier. They also told me there was no reason for the test as my levels would be very high, welp sometimes it is good to push for things
There is nothing wrong with testing if that's what you want to do. It's the people who get back normal results then refuse to believe them and take a bunch of needless supplements or worse the supplement pushers who call normal result "too low" and insist that "big pharma" is hiding your low T from you or some shit. As a T1 hypogonadal patient, may I recommend you take multiple tests, after similar amounts of sleep, at similar times of day, during similar levels of stress, and a similar diet; separated by 2-3 months? I needed around 8 tests before I had proper data to make a diagnosis. I had almost a full sigma difference between individual tests.

There are people that have natural test levels as much as 5 times the normal reference range, who look like they've never lifted in their lives, along with low levels of body hair. Then there are people with a quarter of what is considered "average" who are naturally very muscular with high levels of body hair. There are many factors to take into consideration. Some people's bodies utilize testosterone way better than others.

There's a gene that determines hair follicle sensitivity to testosterone, so some people can have a ton of testosterone and not lose hair, and others can have an average amount of testosterone and lose their hair. In short: balding does not indicate an abundance of testosterone. Same thing applies to facial hair, some people can have a ton of testosterone and not have a good beard because their hair follicles are not sensitive to testosterone

The saliva test is a gimmick and not an accurate representation at all. A blood test in the morning is really the only way to go, even though it's more intrusive and more expensive.
This is very true I have to my testosterone checked on a weekly as am on a replacement therapy. Your testosterone goes up and down during the day. So different times of day gives you different results. There is a lot misinformation out there on testosterone as well.

Due to some health issues that arose, I did a testosterone test via blood in a private clinic. They sent me results that noted I had clinically low testosterone. Turns out they fked the results up when I redid them elsewhere and got normal. Gave me a heart attack because I was instructed, which I had known anyway, that I would need TRT. Luckily, it hadn't come to that.
Its factual tho that male test levels are dropping all over the western world.. Likely due to a combination of our diet and being emasculated. Men are losing their role and purpose in the Western World. This is why depression and anxiety are sky-high in men now.

For anyone confused their test is measuring Free test, not total, in pg/ml. To convert to ng/dl it is divided by 10 so a free test level of 6,35 ng/dl is not unhealthy considering the range should be between 4 and 25. However idk what it should be for their age, probably higher if I had to guess.

Losing hair is caused by dihydrotestosterone, not testosterone, DHT (for short) is what causes you to lose hair, but its not dose dependant, it really depends on the sensitivity of your hair follicles, same goes for the beard, but the thing is, DHT helps beard growth, while it hinders hair growth. Some people might have a thick beard and thick hair, meaning their beard hair follicles are more sensitive to DHT than their hair follicles, and some unfortunate people have very sensitive hair follicles, while their beard hair follicles arent sensitive to DHT, resulting in no beard and no hair, theres a correlation between losing hair and having a thick beard for that reason, but everyone is different so dont expect to have a thick beard if you lose hair, there are ways to grow a beard even if your beard hair isnt very sensitive to DHT tho. But that would make for a wall of text of a comment, so I'm gonna leave it at that.

Testosterone levels peak pretty much after you wake up. Your body produces the vast majority of your T while you sleep. So levels are highest in the morning after a good nights sleep. It's also why sleep is so important for proper testosterone production

My free testosterone from a blood test was 107 and I'm considered low. On my blood test the range is 47-244 for "normal" but the range is huge. Supposedly so insurance doesn't have to pay for hormone treatment.

Yeah I would recommend them to get blood tests instead through a doctor. That way they’re sending it to a reputable lab, not some company that’s probably less than ten years old and is using spit (very inaccurate and prone to variations and falsities) instead of blood.

Did the same over a year ago. Reactions from people were either "why? there's something wrong isn't it?" or "ugh, are you trying to prove something?". All I wanted to do was to check up on my health, like people are supposed to do from time to time.
The results were that my testosterone was normal, not too high not too low.

Same thing happened to me except my levels came back as if I was a 80 year old man. Did continued follow up testing for over a year and half plus to be sure, and not one came back in normal range, all were low. I am on TRT now and could not be happier. They also told me there was no reason for the test as my levels would be very high, welp sometimes it is good to push for things
There is nothing wrong with testing if that's what you want to do. It's the people who get back normal results then refuse to believe them and take a bunch of needless supplements or worse the supplement pushers who call normal result "too low" and insist that "big pharma" is hiding your low T from you or some shit. As a T1 hypogonadal patient, may I recommend you take multiple tests, after similar amounts of sleep, at similar times of day, during similar levels of stress, and a similar diet; separated by 2-3 months? I needed around 8 tests before I had proper data to make a diagnosis. I had almost a full sigma difference between individual tests.

There are people that have natural test levels as much as 5 times the normal reference range, who look like they've never lifted in their lives, along with low levels of body hair. Then there are people with a quarter of what is considered "average" who are naturally very muscular with high levels of body hair. There are many factors to take into consideration. Some people's bodies utilize testosterone way better than others.

Time of day absolutely matters. I get my T regularly checked for medical reasons and doctors truly do prefer having tests done in the morning.

There's a gene that determines hair follicle sensitivity to testosterone, so some people can have a ton of testosterone and not lose hair, and others can have an average amount of testosterone and lose their hair. In short: balding does not indicate an abundance of testosterone. Same thing applies to facial hair, some people can have a ton of testosterone and not have a good beard because their hair follicles are not sensitive to testosterone

The saliva test is a gimmick and not an accurate representation at all. A blood test in the morning is really the only way to go, even though it's more intrusive and more expensive.

This is very true I have to my testosterone checked on a weekly as am on a replacement therapy. Your testosterone goes up and down during the day. So different times of day gives you different results. There is a lot misinformation out there on testosterone as well.

Due to some health issues that arose, I did a testosterone test via blood in a private clinic. They sent me results that noted I had clinically low testosterone. Turns out they fked the results up when I redid them elsewhere and got normal. Gave me a heart attack because I was instructed, which I had known anyway, that I would need TRT. Luckily, it hadn't come to that.
Its factual tho that male test levels are dropping all over the western world.. Likely due to a combination of our diet and being emasculated. Men are losing their role and purpose in the Western World. This is why depression and anxiety are sky-high in men now.

What were your levels? "normal" isn't always "normal" regarding T. What "health issues"? You could still benefit from it.
You might be on the low side of "normal." My brother's thyroid test was similar but he felt better with a higher dose of medicine & his levels went up a bit but still "normal."

For anyone confused their test is measuring Free test, not total, in pg/ml. To convert to ng/dl it is divided by 10 so a free test level of 6,35 ng/dl is not unhealthy considering the range should be between 4 and 25. However idk what it should be for their age, probably higher if I had to guess.

Losing hair is caused by dihydrotestosterone, not testosterone, DHT (for short) is what causes you to lose hair, but its not dose dependant, it really depends on the sensitivity of your hair follicles, same goes for the beard, but the thing is, DHT helps beard growth, while it hinders hair growth.
Some people might have a thick beard and thick hair, meaning their beard hair follicles are more sensitive to DHT than their hair follicles, and some unfortunate people have very sensitive hair follicles, while their beard hair follicles arent sensitive to DHT, resulting in no beard and no hair, theres a correlation between losing hair and having a thick beard for that reason, but everyone is different so dont expect to have a thick beard if you lose hair, there are ways to grow a beard even if your beard hair isnt very sensitive to DHT tho. But that would make for a wall of text of a comment, so I'm gonna leave it at that.

Testosterone levels peak pretty much after you wake up. Your body produces the vast majority of your T while you sleep. So levels are highest in the morning after a good nights sleep. It's also why sleep is so important for proper testosterone production

My free testosterone from a blood test was 107 and I'm considered low. On my blood test the range is 47-244 for "normal" but the range is huge. Supposedly so insurance doesn't have to pay for hormone treatment.
