- How to build a redi rock retaining wall - We built this 10 ft tall wall along a creek. These Redi-rock blocks are big blocks, the base blocks weight 3600 lbs. We used a John Deere 85G excavator to set these big retaining wall blocks. Make sure you check out part one where we did the excavation and poured the concrete footer.

I would think you would want some sort of glass type fence on the top to keep a toddler from going over, also, some steps down to the creek with a gate at the top.

nice! did you have to put gravel underneath the bottom cousre and compact first?
Pouring a concrete footer is definitely the way to go on these, I’m currently doing a wall with a gravel footer. It’s very easy to get that first row off grade.

Good job leveling the concrete footing. I expected it to give you a hard time leveling the first course of block. Challenging project, but you got it done.
