    Killer review - I imagine the sear plate may redirect the heat a bit for seated people on a cooler night. Y Series looks great, love that it’s more portable and heigh adjustable/ made in USA.

    I can't budget one in now, so I'm going to build my own with a 55 gallon metal drum. Then add the grate, and griddle to the top. Cut two 2" channel irons to form an X across the bottom, drill a series of 1/4" - 1/2" holes around the bottom 3" of the barrel. I can get a empty metal 55 gal drum for $20, channel iron for $20, then add in the accessories cost. Is it pretty? No. Is it redneck? Yes. Does it work? Hell yes! If you fill about half way up with criss cross wood, after it gets rolling, the outside of the drum is red hot.

    After a lot of research and review of various Fire Pits, we decided to go with the Y Series. We wanted to support Made in The USA and a Central PA business. We liked the build quality and the fact that we can use it on our deck. Well, our first burn was last night, and we have some deck (TimberTech Azek) damage that will now need to be repaired. We used the “Burn” position and now see that the only position that should be used on composite decking is “Cook”. Please be sure you use the “Cook” height, otherwise you will damage your deck (discolored and slightly melted). I was unable to find this detail in any of the reviews before making the purchase. I did check the temperature a time or two with an infrared thermometer during the fire, it was reasonable I thought, maybe 200 degrees. I now also see the Breeo website does state “only use the Cook height on composite decking”. Our fault, we’ll have the deck repaired. Be advised, so you don’t have the same experience. Otherwise, great build quality and it produced a really nice fire.

    just got my y series and did first burn. went really well im happy with the firepit but i will share something... the reason i went with the Y is because of the legs, and because its made in the USA (unlike the solo which is made in china) but i wanted to be able to burn on my lawn without harming the grass. I put the legs on the first (lower) position.. and it DID kill the grass. sooo just know if you want to not harm your lawn you will need to use the higher (cooking) setting for the legs.

    Hi, does it need a spark screen? Or can a heat deflector be used as a spark screen?

    What is the cover that you have on your wood pile in the background? Looks really well made and clean looking.

      The rack and cover came together, and it’s called The Woodhaven. Here’s a link: amzn.to/3odwk1Y

    I thought you were going to mention which wood type creates the least smoke

    • @TheBarbecueLab
      @TheBarbecueLab  Před rokem +3

      In my experience, smaller wood splits produce the least amount of smoke. I aim for about forearm size when it comes to splits until I really have it going, and then I move into full size splits once the secondary burn is going. Both charcoal and wood pellets were much smokier in our experience.

    All these double wall fire pits may be smokeless but they’re all pointless if all the heat goes straight up! 🤣

    Solo bonfire + heat deflector trumps the breeo allllll day. I also prefer the solo aesthetics. The handle however on the breeo looks super handy. But you can just drill and add them to the solo

      A worthy mention... the 2.0 series is easier to clean, has a better design for pellet use.
      The Breeo is no game changer IMO. Its a firepit with different features is all.

    The Y is a flimsy piece of shit. The legs wobble like hell. Is it worth $495? Nope. And Breeos lifetime warranty is a joke. They cover 5 years against rusting through. What a life time...
    I would not hesitate buying the cheaper ones from competitors. In the end they all work and last the same.
    And they all will rust through somewhen. Once you had a couple of fires in them, the material characteristics change and the rust proof surface won't be rust proof any longer. Mine is rusting like hell even though I clean it after every burn and store it inside my garage. I would not pay 495 bucks for a fire pit again. The cheaper ones, like the ones from Costco, Solo etc. do exactly the same but cost only half of this. I recommend going that route. Breeo is nothing but a lifestyle product. They are made in the U.S. which I like, but not at any costs.
