I now find the bit where we see the box and the body incredibly creepy now we know the truth. It's far fetched but if anyone could pull it off, it's Joan Ferguson!
I had to come back and see this again! I could have sworn they showed a better shot of her in the box but damn I was wrong! How the hell did they not do any kind of actual identification on the body? That's the only part that's annoying me. No DNA, dental records, nothing? Just assumed it was her? And where did she find another female that damn tall?! I'm sure they will make it make sense but right now I just can't figure out how.

you forget that Will managed all by himself digging a hole so deep, while Ferguson layed there patiently, listening to his shovel. then he lifted and pushed the box into the hole so deep without weakening it one bit, in fact it fell perfectly top-aligned into that tight spot.

if it was her, i think that would be an ill fitting ending for a strong antagonist like Joan. sure it would make a lot of people happy, but to me it feels more like a cop out because they are wrapping up storylines and are done messing with Joan's character since S4. so it feels like a slap on the wrist instead of a real ending for such an iconic character. Joan does not need to return to the prison for Wentworth to go on per se, but it's implausible to let her end like this after letting us ignore the elephant in the room for 8 episodes only to show that she was dead all along. so no i think there is twist coming in the finale, but they will wrap up Joan's story in that final episode. just my prediction.
Lol Grey. That is exactly my biggest pet peeve with this whole thing. No way Will could've lifted Ferguson, in that box, off his ute and into that perfectly sized hole on his lonesome. Apparently, yes he did, because it happened. But it's still insanely stupid and unlikely. It creates a plot hole bigger than the grave he so perfectly dug. Realism has been twisted a lot on this show but I personally find this part the hardest to excuse.

I don't think it's her in the box. The episode is called "Shallow Grave" for a reason and Joan doesn't tell anyone anything that can't benefit her. She didn't plan on dying, and couldn't have told anyone "Vera checks under her bed at night. Scare the shit out of her and put black leather gloves on her pillow". Or, I should say, she wouldn't. Joan doesn't trust people, she plays them and that's why I like her character so much.

@@risingkestrel8850 This show did a hell of a lot to move on from Joan the past two seasons, so it's strange that they've decided to bring her back. I'd prefered to have had new villains in season 8 and 9, but I guess that's not happening.

This is an awesome series. Finally heard the release date for Netflix. September 5th pretty Kool, I’m thinking about doing a recap broadcast/podcast for the new season
guys the freak is dead, and these three have fallen straight into whoever is stalking vera's trap as they wanted to make them think the freak was alive in order for them to return to the burial site. no idea on who's behind it though or what on earth they plan to do with the blackmail images. my guesses are that joan could have told somone about her escape to aid her on the outside, that person obviously was expecting joan to arrive but she never did and now they are trying to figure out why/what happened.
Sounds logical and legit. But how did they follow them to the burial site without being spotted? Would've needed a vehicle to follow them and it would've been seen/heard, surely. To me it seems like the person filming already knew Joan was there which makes the whole thing more confusing.
I dunno about that. In the scene where she's being buried the director carefully placed a pair of scissors in the shot next to her head. This channel even hearted someone's comment saying the same thing. This is Ferguson we're talking about. She's definitely out there. Plus the shot of the corpse was so quick that it's almost misleading in a sense.
As much as I'd like to think she's free, Lefty and Prophetess...I can't do it. I know she had the money and, at one stage, the reach to get help outside, but I thought one of the points of S5 was how she ran out of allies. She was hard pressed even in S4 to get help, which is why she had to resort to coddling up to Kaz, using Shane, and eventually blackmailing Jake.

People, whether they think she is dead or not (I think she's dead), are annoyed because we can't just get a confirmation for her death from someone who works on the show. I waited a year and watched (more like endured) 9 eps to see Joan's fate, and still no official confirmation, just continued insensitive baiting. WW social media accounts are to blame for the barrage of denial and crackpot theories we're hearing and they're using this response to get better news/media coverage to boot. WW used to treat their fan base with a little more dignity. When Bea died they confirmed it officially. None of this yanking the fan base around.

Vera is also still pregnant and Rita and Marie are going to be big enemies. This is 100%. Later they removed this synopsis but it's still on twitter. Again, I saw it myself on the ScreenAustralia website, it's not a hoax at all. Ferguson btw isn't and Liz is in the season 7 cast, something else we learned from that clumzy website.

I do not think it’s her because, who ever was taking the photos, how did they know she was there. So I think she would’ve done something so genius that she is taking the photos. And remember last episode, at the end how they had mud foot prints and black gloves, the mud foot prints would’ve been a thing that she had just done something and placed a body inside there, because she’s rich and she has the money to do that. And she wouldve just came back from the burial site and straight to Veras house. But, it might be her dead because we have 1 more season after this and then this show is finished, I might be wrong!

In the last episode of season 6, the officers never mentioned anything else being in the coffin other than a body. Beas drawing should’ve been mentioned as whoever put that there would have a motive to kill Ferguson If that body is her and the scissors in the box too weren’t mentioned either. Might be a small detail but a small part of me thinks it’s not Ferguson but then again if she ever did come back what could she do?

The seasons take to long to come out, have to wait a year to see the next season, needs to be a weekly show
Let's do this the logical way. Now we all know Will buried her alive in that box. She would have time to dig her way out as she had 5 hours using the tools that was left there but then maybe she didn't realise those things were in there? What we saw last was she had a lighter on n saw Bea's self portrait then she freaked out. So maybe she couldn't think clearly at that time n she might be doing things mentally as her mind all went crazy isn't it? So she won't be able to think of escape as she was thinking of what happened with Bea Smith and what she could have done that day isn't it? So with all that n etc by the time there was no more oxygen left for her to breathe right? So she could have died not long after that n then by the time Will, Vera, Jake came it was more than a month long already n of course there would be decomposing n smell coming out after digging it. Also when in decomposed state one can't recognize the face already. It would be eaten up. What do you all think?
So as you can see from here, the whole body is in decomposed state n one can't even recognise the face. See, once the heart stops the body starts decomposing. So if Will were to actually use his shovel just to poke the face, liquid would come off the face.
the show itself is not very logical. it's really impossible to gauge the actual timeline, from Vera's pregnancy to Kaz's time in the slot, it seems over 2 months or more after S5E12 ending. i'm no expert but google says the corpse should be more skeletal by 1 month, the smell would not be as strong by then and would be impossible to detect human facial likeness visually. from the strong smell showed here, it seems more like it's 1-4 weeks after death.
Maybe very hard to gauge? LOL hahaha
This is exactly my problem. Personally I think it is her, and she is dead. But the decomposition isn't accurate. High school biology taught me that cadavers only generally smell for a week too so...assuming that's why Vera/Jake/Will were covering their faces it doesn't add up. It's also not likely that she would look so mummified, especially with a hole in the box. The moisture from the soil (which looks like damp soil to me) would be getting to the skin, as well as air flow. Particles in the air and moisture are what contribute to breaking flesh down so...with them present, Joan's body shouldn't be so intact.
At any rate, Will, Jake and Vera aren't likely to go and try to run a DNA test to see if it's her so...I guess some of us can go live in fantasy land and say she escaped. If the body isn't found by the authorities it'll never be tested. ;-/ Fanfics ahoy.
LOL yes what u say is right..... but again one must accept that the freak is actually dead. In reality, Pam really has left at the end of S5. She was actually very tight lipped about it when someone asked her when she was in Birmingham this year.
Well technically Rabe was in S6 too. It's a waste of an amazing character and even more astounding actress - but then it's been that way for a while. Not to bang on about gross stuff, but I still think that corpse makes zero sense. I mean...where were the maggots/worms??? What a cop out.

My guess is she got out the same day she was put in.There's a hole where that picture should have been!I'm guessing she gets mad and starts punching the picture which creates the hole and then she climbs out .She had to make it look like she never climbed out!So she unburies the box,cleans out all the dirt,gets a body,reburies the box and pushes the piece of lid back down to make it look like a smaller hole that she couldn't climb out of,and then boom!
I have a funny feeling that isn't her! These writers really are playing games 🤣 they really know how to get the fans pulled in with theory's, my theory which I'm hoping is the freak is the one with the camera at the end she has the leather gloves on, meaning she now has power over governor Vera, jake and will meaning they can't do nothing even if they know she's alive they can't exactly go to the police? However my fear is that's just a writers tactic and it's going to be someone else

Who knows .. The freak had a plan for the outside.. Murphy, fletch , jake , turk or shane could have been helping her. Just wait for the cliff hanger... Then we got almost year to wait on season 7.. 😵😵 So many twist and turns.. Wentworth everyone has lies and cover ups.. It keeps us fans busy of thinking of theories.. I rather see the freak dead off the show and the show move on with the new cast any way.. Fletch could be watching them and come back as govener..
Sadly there will be no season 8. The backlash from the writers removing all of the strong women, Beautiful, Franky and the Freak has caused them to cancel the show. So arguing if she's dead or not is really a moot point.

Bea,Doreen,Maxine,Franky,Kim,Tina,Kaz's right hand woman,,Erica,Bridget,Fletch,Channing and I still don't know why he was fired,Will's nurse girlfriend,Sky,Simmo,Jacs,even Debbie and Meg. Please don't get rid of the freak!!!! Even though she killed my favorite character Bea Smith. I can't stand this change for Wentworth!

That Will/Marie relationship is extra annoying when you consider that they seemed to set up Marie as a lesbian... She's most likely just using him and will blackmail him about it later or something, but still. Just...no. It's also a shame that the Will and Kaz relationship simmered out. I hated that alliance when it started but I mean, it disappeared so randomly. What even happened to it...? Adds another layer of confusion when you recall that Robbie and Danielle didn't want Will and Bea to pair up because "Will wouldn't do that with a prisoner". Oh...erm...okay. This is awkward then. Looks like we'll be heading into S7 with just Vera, Will and Boomer at this rate. All the other classics are dropping like flies...
I hope they don't kill off Allie .. All the main characters are gone.. I do however like all the twist and turns ..keeps us wondering.. I miss bea and franky so much but I know shows changes within characters.. I believe we see new governor season 7 and Vera could end up behind bars..

Okay I don’t wanna be a spoiler, but, we all can see that Ferguson is still alive right? And you may have been shocked and puzzled all at the same time like “WTF? DOES THIS WOMAN THING OR CAN THIS WOMAN PERSON DIE? IS SHE IMMORTAL? DID WE MISS SOME TYPE OF SEANCE OR VOODOO IN THESE SERIES? HOW IS THIS WOMAN STILL ALIVE?” Well like most of us viewers, a big part of us wanted this FERGUSON Dead In the worst way! But in another way, Ferguson Character was the BOOM!! I hated so much that I LOVED to see Ferguson destroy everybody’s entire brain cells. She’s just EVILLY BEAUTIFUL. Well to me, this show wouldn’t be good without Ferguson scenes. The way she whooped about 6 female “arse”, (as the English would say)In the prison, She was for real for real had immortality. Lol. got so involved in this show I felt like I was part of Wentworth. I was in H block surviving, doing drugs, off drugs, drinking, escaping, and running all type of mind games on everyone in prison like I was really there from my television screen!😂Woooah it was sooo good. But, My spoiler opinion as to who’s body is in the box, my opinion is either two women. The first woman, I thought it may have been Maxine. Just thinking who could be Ferguson’s height and body mass. But then further inspecting a still frame picture of the corpse, the hair was curly. We all know Ferguson did not have curly hair. Then they definitely wanted you to see that the top of the box was broken, like it was hit with a sledgehammer. Also the scissors were missing, the hand didn’t have the bandage on it, and the TEETH! Did anyone notice the teeth. Only one person had those set of teeth, and that was DOREEN! Look closely at the bottom row teeth, the gap in the teeth matches the gap from Doreen’s teeth. I believe Ferguson was found by Jake after Will buried her. Jake’s Mind is fully controlled by Ferguson. She already told him, “There was no way Out!” Plus he was the only guard that Knew of Franky and Allie escape because he caught Allie. Anyone can talk Jake into doing anything. Plus Ferguson told Jake He needed to help her get out. Watch him closely as Will digs up the body and he looks right at whoever was recording it, which I believe it was Ferguson herself recording them unburying supposedly her body. Ferguson can’t be touched now because everyone will think she is dead. No one is gonna get out of Wentworth. Ferguson got all them Females on LOCKDOWN! It’s her prison and she gonna run it DEAD OR ALIVE!!! MY OPINION. What do you all think of my theory of who’s in the Box?? 🤔🤔🤔 You welcome!!
