- He may not have superstar potential in the Association, but there's a path for Edey to be a solid NBA big man who contributes as soon as next year.

Channel 52 baby, good old days.
Yao had an impeccable mid range game
Hey, Boban dropped 31 on the nuggets on NATIONAL TV. He ain’t a bust. No one willing to play him like Rick was. Dude is a monster
A Monster ? Hes a respectable bench 3rd option.
@@Joefdgtr come back here when he’s a starter
@@Mdpiddywhen who’s a starter? Boban is 35 years old at this point. Considering his physical profile, there’s probably a reason so many different teams choose to play him conservatively.
@@WKng11sorry, I assumed your post was about my Kenny Loften comment on a different post 😂. But they wasted Boban’s career. Should’ve been a nightly spark and double/double off the bench.
Bobby can play. Just doesn't fit the 3 PT formula. Sad
ZUBAC.
I feel like they have similar build, speed and talent.
Not a SUPERSTAR, but a slightly above average center that can give you a solid double-double on any given night.
I'm really waiting to see how quick he can be with the other NBA big men.. I feel like he moves like his legs weigh 300lbs themselves
Can’t be Zubac he’s too fluid in the post. I haven’t seen Edey move like that in College.
@@hurricanestarangsmall ball pick and roll liability, defensive switch liability
@@Lucciii32 absolutely
Honestly Edey just needs Wemby’s lateral and flexiblility training and he could be pretty dominant.
Jose is killing it !!!!!!!!! no other youtube channel is cooking up content as hard + as consistently as the score
#1 pick Edey will be the monster he is. No one can stop this monster!
Quite the accurate title
I think as long as he healthy he gone have a solid career tbh
All great points. I just saw him play for the first time against the huskies or whatever. He had to be a one-man team, and by the end he looked pretty worn out, so they lost. But this kid has insane potential.
I still don't buy this small ball thing. I believe it's just as situational as having a limited slow big man. IMO the key will be developing his playmaking. His size advantage gives him a unique ability to survey the floor. This is what nick nurse is working on with embiid this season. If opponents are lacking a real big, it's BBQ chicken all day as shaq would say. They simply need multiple defenders to stop someone like this...which means a teammate is going to be open all the time
They literally don’t need multiple defenders to stop this dude 😭😭 he’d get locked up by sub par 7 footers. He can’t space the floor or guard the small ball pick and roll. His post offensive game is inflated as there’s not to many guys that can match his size in college. This won’t be the case in the league, he’ll be a solid role player at best. Similar to Boban.
@@Lucciii32 Why do you think so? When it comes to basketball, size and strength makes up for a lot of flaws. Many teams play a 6'10 or under big man nowadays. Someone that size can't even contest a 7'4 monster's hook shot, or prevent his 300lb frame from backing them down
E
Weighs 280.
No matter what happens, as a Canadian hoops fan im beyond pumped
Good video but how much footage of Boban in Crvena Zvezda have you watched?
Love this analysis!
I agree with this video. The one thing that so-called analysts are missing about him is upside. Edey hasn’t really played basketball that long. he has improved exponentially. This is a weak draft so he should be picked higher than what he’s projected. I do worry about him being run off the floor. But he’s got so much potential.
I think he’d be a great pickup for Toronto. Aside from being from Canada, he could slide right into Poetl’s position which would allow them to trade Jacob, and improve his playmaking under the guidance of Kelly Olynyck. His timeline, being an older rookie, would fit in well with Barnes, Barrett n Quickly too.
You would keep Poeltl to move him to the bench when the time is right, and you would move Kelly to the PF spot.
Edey is a unguardable rim protector
OKC is the best landing spot for him the spacing & playmakers is going to set Edey up for success early on also if he continues to develop on being a versatile player then that would definitely help him thrive in the league.
Chet unlocked em by having a 3ball. clog the paint and shai wouldn’t be as effective no?
His playstyle is like zubac of LA Clippers. Pure brute strength.
Or Valentunas of the Pelicans. Not as agile but 4 inches taller.
The best thing for Edey's development is to be drafted by a contender like the Bucks, Thunder, or Knicks. These teams wouldn't necessarily need him to contribute immediately, which would allow him to properly adapt to the professional level.
You mean the Miami Heat
Edey's development could mirror Brook Lopez, learning the 3 and becoming a great rim protector in drop coverage
Lopez was one of the most skilled post bigs coming into the league. Edey is not even close to as skilles
Brook Lopez and Horford are legends in the NBA
Okay how about his twin brother Robin Lopez?
I think his ceiling is better Zubac, his floor is tacko
He’s got a killer hook and great offensive awareness but in the title game his defense concerned me he got put in a blender on multiple occasions
why not someone in between. I don't think he'll ever have the touch of yao ming but hopefully he stays healthier than yao and actually be a solid starting center and maybe even all-star
He remind me I’d big country from Vancouver.
I still think he works in San Antonio or OKC next to Wembanyama or Chet
Or to a lesser degree, in Toronto next to Olynyk.
I think the key is to pair him with a big whose strengths/flaws are compatible with Edey's strengths/weaknesses
Definately wrong for okc.
More boban but needs to improve footwork & midrange shots
ive been saying it for months. if the Thunder get him, that puts Chet at the 4, J Williams at the 3. OKC will be in the WCF next season and title contenders for the next 5+ years.
Doesn't remotely fit the OKC system offensively or defensively
Reminds me of a taller jahlil okafor 2.0
Really hope the Raptors can land this kid.
Please no

Speak for yourself I’d be so mad
Welcome to the Thunder
I feel like he could be a good bench player, like the 7th or 8th man on a fringe playoff team
I see Zubac and Steve Adams.
I see Shaq and wilt chainberlain
My guess was between kornet and boban
Worth taking a chance on. Couldn’t be worse than taking Bagley over Luka.
Don't do boban like that man. An undrafted guy who once average 11 and 8 in 20min in the playoffs and has almost 10 years of nba career is far from bust. If you wanna talk about bust, it should be hasheem thabeet.
It will translate, they gonna have to come to the rim eventually
Boban 💯
I see Zubac
Was thinking best team for big country Zack Eddy imo Grizzlies and bulls .Not the raptors Plz masai looks like he is planning on draft the whole Canadian national team.
I see shaq and chainberlain
if a guy, who's career highlight is appearing on John Wick movie, has a spot in NBA, Zach for sure has a spot in NBA.
Jacob Portl
What we know is this. That the NBA is going back to needing bigs to win. Denver has proved that last couple of years, Minnesota is now proving that and if you don't have a big to at least slow up Wemby, life is going to be difficult.
Who out there had an accurate hook shot and can grab 15 boards? I heard the same athleticism critique long ago with Bill Laimbeer, two championships later……
Boban was a euroleague MVP, the 2nd best basketball league in the world
He was the Serbian League MVP. In EuroLeague, he won "MVP of Round 10" in 2013, not of the whole league.
Zach Edey is going to answer the question could shaqs play style survive in todays NBA.
But Shaq is quicker 💀
Celtics trading brown to trade up to select edey
To me he'll be a better version of zubac and nurkic. He wont be a star but an impotant part of a rotation
Rise or another Fall for Charlotte Hornets new ERA & new owners your next video theScore 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Ilgauskas.
Zydrunas ilgauskas
Don't do Z this way
No way he's gonna be as funny as Boban
Don't insult Yao like that. Edey's footwork & touch is not even remotely CLOSE to what Yao's was
Edey would be decent if paired with Wemby.
Can't agree more. He complements Wemby well. Wemby is skillful but too light. He cannot defend 250 260 pounds fellow down low. Zach can. He can drop low and not come out from the paint area. Wemby can stay one step behind the arc and try to block every three points shot launched.
Zach Edey is a non-shooting high usage back to the basket center that can't switch on defense and can only do drop coverage on PNR. Not a good combination for modern times. He is also unable to rim run and catch lobs athletically. I don't see it but I wish the best for him to figure it out
speed and agility will determine how long will he be in nba - he looks very slow
His lane agility numbers were a second faster than KDs were, and his 3/4 court speed was identical to KDs.
@@tray22 being tested in ideal condition VS adjusting to in-game speed are very different
@canadianchungus701 True but skills like that scale. I would expect his on court and in-game speeds to be near KDs since under ideal conditions, they were similar. If they don't compare at all, the league wouldn't have them even rested in that way.
@@tray22 not necessarily - NBA draft combine shows plenty of players tearing up all sorts of times only to never be drafted or be out of the league.
Edey is dominant in NCAA only because the next tallest guy is probably 4-8 inches shorted than him and lighter. The only upside to Edey is that he has worked hard in each season at Purdue and shows a tonne of upside. And with the weak draft class, he might go very high or fall really low.
@canadianchungus701 We will see. Your beliefs don't translate to the NBA either, or you would be a recruiting manager. I am simply stating facts as they were recorded for all of us to consume. Also, Edey was draining 3s at the combine.
He is better than both…
Unfortunately, Edey was born 15 years too late. His game is not fit in today’s game.
He’d be a good bench player though. Like a back-up Center playing 10-12 minutes a games.
He is definitely better than Boban. I don't see an argument there.
But against Yao, I would say pretty even. Yao has better shooting and better handles, but Zach is quicker, stronger and plays better defense.
But yeah, Edey was born two decades too late.
Weighs 280, Cut, quick. Good the foul shooter. Can shoot 3 altho don't let him useitvin games. Only one on team with any nba talent even as F A.

kevon looney is a projected KD what i heard. he could be looney.
I rock with a UCLA Looney jersey. Guys want to buy it off me everyday
RIK SMITS. Dependable big man, even a starter in a winning team. Not a bust but not a superstar.
A superstar
Now someone got it right. A lesser Rik Smits
@@MarkFranklin-ws5jf Rick could shoot
@@Clarkthefaceofwnba Shooting is a skill that most NBA players work on and improve on as their career progresses. So that's also something that Zach can improve on. NBA teams now have skills coaches including a shooting coach.

How will this affect Lebron's legacy?
Similiar to Yao Ming.
Lazy transition defense
Like to sit near the rim
Have a good on ball movement
Bad stamina
Good strength

His Dad's white. His Mom's Chinese.
With the fifth pick in the 2024 NBA draft, the San Antonio Spurs select...
Here we go again, we gonna put a huge expectation to this kid and if he dont meet our expectation we gonna call him all sorts of crazy things 🤦♂️ why cant we just let him develop?
Everyone is saying he will get cooked and he’s a fringe nba player. What expectations bro 😂 if he does even ok that’s more then most expect
Edey half Chinese so I aint surprise he would be compared to Yao
Bol Bol take it or leave it
Second
The first injury will be his last.
Luka Garza?
6’11??? Stop it
Have you seen Garza lately? Lost about 50 lbs. Looks like Vito III in godfather 4
Boban. I watched the championship game and the UCONN center gave him fits with just hustle and quickness and even seemed to be able to get better post position because he could get to the spot first consistently. The NBA is gonna eat him up, and guys like Jalen Green and Antman will be salivating for the opportunity to posterize him.
He is slow. I saw him for the first time in the championship game. He air balled a free throw. Then tried to double fake a layup and missed. I had no idea he was considered a star
Boban can shoot the 3 reliably.
IMAGINE PAIRING THIS DUDE WITH WEMBY. HAHAHA!
I think more Boban? Hahaha
Here’s the thing…. The nba currently is so in love with the three point shot, a lot of them are too damn ageist when it comes to older prospects
People will look at Eddy and would want him to spread the floor, despite him having a size advantage over 50% of the bugs in the league
spruss
I am going to go out on a limb and say Zach will be a future NBA MVP. The game will change and goes in cycle. You starting to see the big men coming back like Jokic and Embiid, the last MVPs were all centers.
Not unless the 3 point shot goes away. I would make 1 change to the 3 immediately which would take 5% away - Shooters feet must both start and end in 3 point territory.
Boban
are you just hyping edey up cause hes canadian? lol
CANADA JUICY... Dood I need to find a rock to crawl under now
you know its the weakest draft class if you got players like bronny averaging 4pts a game declaring for it.
Why do people act like he can’t get better? Like he’s a finished product? Makes no sense ..
It is the responsibility of toronto raptors to. pick him!
He played almost all the minutes in the tournament. I can't believe the people that say he's a second round or an undrafted pick. He's obviously better than majority of backup centers. And this draft is super weak, this shouldn't even be a debate He's a lottery pick. If he falls, he'll go to Denver and be fine.
That proves he has great stamina.
Neither
I hope he won't be Yao, the false superstar who played 8 seasons of which he was hurt lost of the time in 4 seasons. Of course wishing him to be like Hoban is cruel.
