7,4 center that actually post up and uss his size. that rare in todays era
Man's got that hook down fr.
He still doesn't look polished. IMO, it won't be this easy in the NBA
Haters on Edey don't understand or want to understand that he is running an offense that is based on this play style. That doesn't mean this is all he can do. Edey shoots well from the line and at the draft combine he hit multiple 3's in a row with great form. At Purdue he did what the coaches asked of him and clearly excelled. Why I think he has a chance to be good in the NBA is he wont have 3 guys draped on him at all times, he will ALLOWED to be more creative/shoot and the BIGGEST reason is he is unbelievably durable/in shape. I've never heard of a guy this big playing entire games before and he doesn't miss any games. Idc what you say that's mind blowing - he's 7'4 and 300 pounds.
Lets be honest: if he was black, he'd be the consensus #1 pick.
I agree 100% with everything you said!
@@ZeroG????? 😂😂😂😂
I’m trying to understand why he’s not projected number one 🤷🏿♂️ it’s so obvious
1. He's Slow
2. Poor pick and roll defense
3. Defensive Rotations
He does not only play like Yao Ming, he even looks like Yao Ming
He’s Chinese so yeah 👍
Yao Ming has mid range shooting , Edey does not have
He moves like my 70 ovr MyCareer player from 2k13 who still finishes every game with a A+ teammate grade
Realll😂😂🫡
Zachquille O'neil is unstoppable
Zachquille O’Neal is crazy 🤣
@@1bangworldceo. that’s what Shaq called him
I think he plays like Tim Duncan he is a old school type of center great player
Plays like TD looks like China Mac
Please don’t disrespect Tim Duncan
How is that disrespectful that’s a compliment
🤡
The Heat needs this guy! He will be perfect alongside Bam so Bam can play the 4 where he belongs.
You can't have a non shooter at the 4
Yes he would be a great fit
Nice so he can absolutely eat up the spacing on floor by having 2 non shooters. You definitely understand basketball !
Bro you make bam a shooter and use him in the mid ranger and eddy will clean up the boards plus on defense imagine having to go through bam jimmy and eddy down low plus highsmith
How labd heat above 20picks if he get top 15
He’s like a mini Yao
You’re really dumb if you think that. He’s not even 1/10 the player yao was. Absolutely disrespectful. 🤦♀️
My first thought was an urban yao 😂😂😂
Na he a baby Shaq dominating the paint just watch
@@scottsomkhit544Def more Yao than Shaq...younger Shaq was explosive as an athlete
Like a taller Steven Adams
Man amongst boys
Now this is a true Center. Crazy that everyone is saying no one is gonna draft him. It doesn't matter because there are still teams that value the classic center role.
We will miss you Edey. Great player, Purdue is gonna hurt with losing you
in the pick and roll, Edey surprisingly does not look that slow moving to the basket. His game is essentially all of what Jakob Poeltl is, a 7'+ big who's slow, a good shot blocker, decent rebounder, a floater/push shot and hook(Edey will probably develop these). he also has the height to be able to shoot over guys in the mid range, like Porzingis. He might not be that strong, but being 7'4 he is heavy enough to punish other centers in the paint, catch lobs and maybe some spin moves if he learns. Edey basically has more offensive skill than Gobert(primarily he dunks/catches lobs), and almost as much as Poeltl. Both of these guys are successful defensive big men in the league. Tell me how Edey, who has even more height than both of these guys, and a longer wing span, can't be able to thrive in the NBA. like y'all don't think with an NBA shooting coach he can't develop at least a midrange??
Great comment
Can’t wait to see him in the NBA. Who ever drafts him is getting a great player
30 years ago perhaps.. as dominant as he is in the paint, he seems too slow for today's game.
@@lordkaiser1404 I get your point, and I understand any I say or you say is a matter of opinion until he plays, but if Nikola Jokić can run so can Zach.
@@martinvalle8945 if edey can match jokic's passing and extremely high IQ, then he has a chance.
Imagine San Antonio drafting Edey 😂😂
Some NBA team will pick him up but he’s a long way off from getting any amount of minutes in pro ball
did not know he was Canadian. Canada producing great ballers
Dude gonna be a decent role player in the NBA let's be real
the role of Nba finals MvP, and later on the greatest of all time
No he’s not if he can’t defend well enough. I’m concerned more with that side of the ball then offense. He’s a very slow footed big and he will be going against much smarter, quicker, and athletic guards. A lot of his defensive plays don’t really highlight his abilities because a lot of these guards that are running into him aren’t nba level.
@@masterofnone597😭😭 you don’t know ball 🤡
For real
I don’t think so. Because nba teams won’t try to just maximize his strengths and expect a guy that’s 7’4 and weighing 300lbs to defend perimeter players and shoot 3 pointers instead of letting him play down low which is what he is good at.
I wouldn’t mind if he slips to my timberwolves in the draft🤷♂️
And with the 17th pick in the 2024 nba draft the Los Angeles Lakers select Zack Edey C Purdue 💜💛
Man didn’t start playing until he was 16, could have some serious upside.
Thats crazy
Good for the lakes zaeck edey ,Go Go,
People saying he's only big in the NCAA and will get bodied in the league. They often compare him to Zubac (or heck, 6'9 Tyler Hansborough, lol). C'mon now, Edey is going to be a giant in the NBA as well. He's 7'4 with a 7'11 wingspan. Zubac is 7' with a 7'4 wingspan. That's a massive difference... The only player with similar size with Boban (and if Wemby goes on steroids), but Edey is clearly more coordinated and athletic. People also complaining the league is soft now - well great, even easier for him to take over.
Yeah I just signed him on my gym mode on nba 2k cos I went against him he is a giant he dwarves Wemby cos of his broadness, sets a killer screen, even if that’s all he does he will make nba
🤡 you put boban in this game and he’d be doing the same thing as edey. Slow footed, non offensive threat, small ball pick and roll liability.
@@Lucciii32 he has 150 lbs on boban and moves better, he will have a better career than he did
@@NathanBall18 sure, but to what extent. Do you think this dude is better than takko fall ?
@@Lucciii32 yeah I think he is, he started -laying much younger is ,more athletic and co-ordinated, you can see he has a balanced build
Welcome to New York, Zach.
He adds size and physicality to a Canadian team that needs it. Imagine his screens opening up drives for Shai, or 3 pointers for Murray, or dominating in the paint for when opposing perimeter defenses put in the pressure.
Respect - from a UConn fan 💯
If Rudy Gobert can get a big contract in the NBA, I can guarantee Edey can make an impact.
Miami needs him
If this dude can be mobile enough on defense he can play a Brook Lopez kinda role, that jumper was looking clean in the combine
His footwork and speed are not bad, better than I would have expected for such a big guy. That helps.
I don’t think he’s going to last till number 17 honestly I think teams are going to realize that he’s dominant
Edy can ball for sure but there’s a few areas that can be further developed: Footwork, keeping the ball high when players are shorter, positioning in the paint, learn how to read his opponents body language when posting up, shooting with the left hand, ball handling,
I agree. His game does need work. He also allows smaller, weaker players to push him off the block. If he gets a lot of resistance, pushing and shoving, etc., he needs to take more advantage of his size and strength to overcome it and show who's boss out there. He also ought to dunk one-handed more often so that he can outmaneuver and evade the defender more easily. He needs to watch old films of how Wilt Chamberlain did it. Much to be learned there.
His mustache is iconic. Hope he gets drafted.
YAO MING 2.0
A classic big!!
that hook deadly
He’s going to be the Yao Ming we never got
🤡
No, Yao ming has a decent jump shot. Hopefully miami drafts him
I really hope my team okc draft him he can be a star 💯he’s 7’4 300 but if you watch close he moves go for his size and he’s competitive and his skills and potential can be shaq like in the paint if he gets to the right team that’s important for players
He's a SERIOUS inside threat... in college. He's gonna have to gain muscle, increase his footwork, and get a mid range r extend his hook shot to really impact the league tho. I can see him going to the Warriors when cp3 on the floor, the hornets for their pick n roll game, r just a defensive piece for the like the Pistons r sum
Gain muscle? Dude is already a well proportioned 7'4 and 300 lbs, so he's gonna be able to have his way physically with most NBA centers. If anything, trainers might try to get him down to 280-285, in order to improve his quickness.
The hook shot is unstoppable ❤❤😂
Pag nahasa ng husto tong c Zack edy daming team Angahihorapan dto sa lakers
Can’t wait to see him in an NBA fight after throwing all those elbows.
He would occasionally throw elbows in his freshman and sophomore years but has done a great job of not throwing elbows for the past two seasons
Draymond Green deserves one of them.
@@HEMI-MOMMA absolutely
Can't really blame him. He gets fouled all over the place, over and over.
But so many of them the refs just don't call. He has to be getting tired of all the pushing and shoving and forearms on his back. When I played ball, you could not do that forearm thing on a guy's back, EVER. That was an automatic foul EVERY TIME. People should be fouling out fast trying to guard this guy.
Big Lurch💥
I’m impressed
Lakers please get him
Mini Yao makes it look easy
Looking forward to see this Center in a Miami Heat uniform. 🤔
No please i am heat fan he is not fit with bam to slow slow foot work no defense
Miami Heat 15th Pick🔥
He's be perfect for Miami
Lakers if you get the 17th pick back from NO and this man is there, TAKE HIM
Welcome to Philly brother !
Need this guy next to AD bro
Best fit for miami with bam playing in pf
This guy should be a draft in the top 5
With a little more practice he might figure this basketball thing out. Going to be interesting following what community college he goes to play for.
Come to the pels please
Happy Birthday Zach Edey!!!!!!!🥳🎉🎂 05/14/24
I like his aggression in the paint. He will be a threat to most big men in the NBA especially Victor Wembanyama.
Lakers please pick him up
We need him in Houston
Plays like Yao Ming
Yao Ming of Canada!🎉
yeah, i see Yao
Idk but he gives me zubac vibes
Yeah but he’s 7’4 with a 7’11 wingspan, much bigger.
7'4
I don’t know where you guys are getting this comparison, zubac is way more mobile then him and has better offensive touch.
@@kalenmarshall8692 Nah, I'm saying he's much bigger than Zubac. There is no way Zubac would have dominated the NCAA like this (if he attended a US college).
This dude gets a mid range and it’s over
Why would he need a mid range tho gang he eating good in that paint
One man can't beat a whole team.
Purdue has 6 guys who had at least one 20 point game this year, plus Cam Heide had an 18 point game. Edey is the star but it is definitely not a one man show.
@@TylersTTT Unfortunately in the finals, it was a 1-man show.. sure Braden had 12 but he also made alot of bad decisions and to his credit some good plays as well but you gotta play flawless when yer opponent is Spencer, Castle, and Newton arguably the best PG in the league
@@daddad4589 Uconn had the perfect gameplan to stop purdue and the personnel to execute. Elite on the perimeter defense and athletic enough to punish Purdue on the offensive glass.
@@DBurns0941 sure seemed that way
I know Pat Riley's mouth watering doing the birdman hands. A guy like this would force another team to adjust their game plan.
If Memphis Grizzlies get him it's over for teams in NBA... Ja /Eddy
Lolzzzz,,,Memphis is trash
Put on a bit muscle and USE it more. Develop a good sky hook. He'll be completely unstoppable. I notice that a lot of the defensive players against Edey were getting away with a lot of pushing and shoving. Edey has to work on not getting pushed off the block. The refs are just not calling those. Those players should be fouling out bc there's no way they can guard him.
AD and Edey
How is the dude from UConn head Edey?
Idk why but I see him as a Thunder or Celtic
He is like jokic moves, more on sky hook
if he played in the 80s or 90s he would be the goat but he doesn't have an outside presence, which is needed in today's NBA. Can't be dunkin the ball all the time.
Exactly
I beg to differ look at Zions game
If kai was good as this guy he's gonna be next alien of NBA imagine the league Battling Againts Giants Like Wemby,Chet,Edey,Sotto ? That will be a good matchup hoping Kai will totally put efforts and hardwork and even dedications in his game so he can be join the NBA draft
He'll be like Steven Adams. His minutes will depend on the match with the other team.
Come to phoenix please ❤
Welcome to the Thunder. Now you can reunite with the 🇨🇦 guys Shai and Dort.
Quite the highlight reel for a player who never won a National Championship during his whole tenure at Purdue.
He brought Purdue to a national championship game. They hadn’t been in a national title game since 1969. He is the main reason they got so far, he’s by far Purdues best player ever. Not every player who’s great wins championships.
Literally 90% of guys in the nba never won a naty. You act like winning a championship is the only measurement of skill
Okc perfect fit.. With dort and Sga as his teamate in canada..wow this is perfect
Heat needs to draft him he will fit the system
He'd look nice in a Heat uniform
Welcome to Portland baby
Why does he always look mad? 😂
If he gets more muscle he will be like Shaq unstoppable in the paint.
It’s Indy Ming .
Dan Hurley is tacky af
THANK YOU I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
Hurley's antic in the championship game where flat out embarrassing, jumping around, doing high steps, running out on the floor, talking to opposing players and complaining about every call. He should've gotten a tech for walking out to the top of the key and talking to Edey. He stood on the floor the entire game...oh yeah, and he pushed his own player while he was IN THE GAME to pass it to someone. The guy is clearly the best college coach in the business, but clinically insane.
Bulls r looking at getting him if we get a high enough draft pick but he’s probably slow on defense we already have Vuce who is like that
He will be a starter in the NBA in his 3rd yr
Didn't know China Mac plays basketball for Purdue 😂
😂
Lakers should draft him. Have him train with some nba guys. Maybe lose 8-10 pounds for mobility.
Nba teams will be going at him on pick and rolls
He needs to Train with SHAQ & the DREAM
Knicks should draft him for depth
What Knicks fan came here to c him 😂 let’s go Knicks!!
7’4 edey vs 7’4 wemby who y’all got
Wemby is definitely taller than 7’4
Wemby is definitely taller than 7'4
@@FrxstyProdzactually Wemby is 7"3 1/2 and Edey is 7'4
@@timhargrave4881 there’s literally a picture on google of them standing next to each other and Wemby is taller. Don’t do that
NEXT YAO MING FUTURE SUPERSTAR
I hope the Knicks draft him, please
Lo voglio hai Lakers !!!!!!!!!
Alessandro, Italia.
his moves is like Kai Sotto
a big that plays big
Back in Toronto
Incredible to see how blind those GM are... He is like prime shaq with a soft touch.
I hope lakers got their eyes on a few guys on the draft, and they can get them cheap since this is supposedly a weak draft with lots of teams trying to off load picks. We get some players the new coach likes and let him develop them.
knicks type of player
Lakers 🏀🎉🎉!!!
The next great Lakers center.
Hes a full blooded center.. a rarity today... any team with this type of center can become a great team.
Nba has moved way off balance with the centers playing sg, pf, pg.
I hope edey gets drafted and proves the traditional center can function against todays nba.
I guess you don’t realize why traditional centers have died out of the league. Put a traditional big on the floor and good luck to your spacing and pace
@@kalenmarshall8692 due to faster pace bball. That however doesnt change the fact a lot of teams often miss this kind of center that dominates the paint.
@@johnnydenmark6477 no they don’t miss them, they simply don’t draft them because it’s 2024 and it’s been almost a decade of running small ball 5 or having bugs who space the floor by shooting threes. I’m not sure how much basketball you have missed but like I said before, there is a reason most teams are no longer high on big clunky centers in the draft.
