Wow those fish and chips looked gorgeous Dazzla.Can Remember a Mother Hubbards in the 70s in Bradford which was I'm pretty sure started as a restaurant and not a takeaway.Sure it was the first one.Now like you say lots of Mother Hubbards fish and chip shops all over the country .

Wow, that meal was worth the ride out! I'm up late working but could just eat that meal right now ...! Oh this is a new channel i see, not your old one? That batter looked amazing, you cannot beat the best fish and chips for total comfort food. Great value too, wish i lived in those parts i would be visiting there. Great content.

That looked absolutely superb and it was great value. I knew they had a few shops Yorkshire way but didn't realise they had spread to London. Great vlog DJ and as you said OTC's.
They're a Yorky mob, started in Bradford, about 5 mins from where i used to live. Always been a bit over the odds, with all the fancy packaging n stuff, but a constant mediocrity. Esp now, that they do'nt use beef dripping !!

That looked good. from someone that lives close to the famous Pilot at Dungeness. Went to the local chippy the other week (that used to be rated very highly but has changed hands)) for the first time in about 5 years got charged £28.00 for Haddock & chips twice and was so dissapointed. I've never has such a wet piece of fish in fact we (the SO) seriously doubted it was Haddock! But that looked proper.

My nan used to put custard powder in her batter when I was a child. She made us fish and chips every Saturday.RIP Nanny fish.
Yeah, Cornflour is essentially custard powder & vanilla.
Use a quarter in weight of cornflour (or Rice flour)
& guarantee crispy !.

Been there, is more East Ham that Canning Town, but it's great to be a chain. My wife's best friend used to live in Poplar and we went there from time to time. Always great quality. Keep up the fabulous work, Darren!! 😊

Lovely looking fish and chips there buddy. The batter looked absolutely tremendous and good portion for the price, especially in London. I have heard of the Mother Hubbard chain but not sure if there are any by me. Will have to go online and check where the nearest one is. Great review mate👍

I still stand by here in Yorkshire we have the best fish and chips by far. I have a Mother Hubbards a mile down the road from me and for what is now a big chain, the quality is brilliant. Thanks for the video.
As a northerner, and therefore an expert, this looked awesome. Especially as it’s a chain restaurant. Are they franchised? Seen reviews of the one up here and pretty sure that was a 10 also.
Apparently the actors who played Jack and Vera Duckworth on Corrie invested in, and promoted, this company soon after it started up. Don't know how successful it was at the outset, but it's still going strong. Great value for London.

I'm a Brit retired and living in Cyprus .
If you ever come to Cyprus you must try Lambros fish and chips , it's located inside the dekhelia British base and it is fantastic .

Massive portions and the price is soo cheap for London , my local with mediocre fish and passable chips cost a few quid more…. Def going to pay this place a visit !

DJ, I live in Worcester and I love Fish and Chips once a fortnight and out of 7 chip shops in my area, just 3 I would return to but nothing on what you have had. Batter casing, greasy, paper clings to food.

That's the best fish and chips I've seen on here and whether in or out of London , for that quality and quantity that's a brilliant price. I'd eat that but would choose Haddock for sure. Thank you for sharing sweet xx 🙏🏻❤

Thanks for sharing! I prefer my fish n’ chips deep fried in beef dripping and the fish to be coated in beer batter. The last time I went to a Mother Hubbards, my fish and chips (like yours) looked amazing. Unfortunately they were fried in vegetable oil and tasted ok ish. On the-other hand, Murgatroyds (Yeadon - Leeds) do AMAZING fish n’ chips! If you ever find yourself up in West Yorkshire I highly recommend that you give them a visit.

One in Shrewsbury. Sometimes the batter looks as though it has exploded and has left some of the fish uncovered so you get some that's dry. Chips are good, nicely cooked.
All in all good value for money.

I've been going to Mother's Hubbards since I was a kid. It started in Bradford then came to Oldham where I was born and bread and just out of interest Roy Barraclough was a regular there, I saw him a couple of times in the restaurant area 😃 Top fish n chips top man. Loving these vlogs 👍

This is a real coincidence as we’ve recently had a Mother Hubbard’s open where I live. I was looking at their menu and interested to see they do grilled fish. I love fish in batter but do also love it just grilled, I can’t cook fish at home as it literally makes my husband go green, and none of our other chippies do grilled fish, so I’m definitely going to give it a go. The only problem with the menu on home delivery it doesn’t actually tell you what fish options there are, so no idea what I’d be getting ! It’s a varied menu with spicy fish options too. Great review, I’d love to know what their curry sauce is like
They only use haddock , I think this is important to [point out as DJ said it was cod.

@@geebee6737 hi, I just looked at their website and it’s a bit misleading as on the menu it says 100% cod, but then looked at the title ‘our product’ and it says it’s haddock they use, which they say is part of the cod family, which I never knew ! You learn something new every day !
That was superb value, I live in a small town in the midlands and I pay nearly £9 for a small portion of fish and chips, wht you had looks much better quality as well.

That wooden cutlery puts my teeth on edge..😱🤣 the food looks good..I think batter like that is with tempura batter drizzled on top whilst frying..🥂
