Glad to see anime expo back in action after 2 years can't wait to go next year
Its crazy how big anime has gotten. During the 90s and early 2000s, the only anime people watched was dragonballz and pokemon and it was kind of a niche thing. Now it seems like every gen zer is into anime.
Genz basically has the internet on them 24/7, they have it much easier to access stuff like anime unlike past gens who either had to import, buy overpriced dvds or torret whole seasons.
Filipinos like my brother Eric had a love of anime since the 1990s like Dragon Ball Z & Yu Yu Hakusho AKA Ghost Fighter.
USA just arrived late in the banwagon. People from Asia, Europe (especially France and Italy) and S.America grew up with anime on tv since the 70's 80's.

@Milk man The gamer ive been seeing people say the caught covid from attending already smh. Its too crowded with no limit to the amount of people that can attend and not well put together covid precautions id be surprised if someone didn't catch covid tbh.

Anime is literally Japanese for Animation
In Japanese an "anime" is only the word for "cartoon". B It's come from the word "animation" and I guess the tv hostess use the word "cartoon" because we can assume that she is talking to a generic audience that maybe don't know what an "anime" is.

Man...some cosplay..has so much dedication. You know how expensive that Pokémon and cloud final fantasy costume and hairdo. They should play anime music and some games to win some anime stuff like rare action figures.

You have to go on a website and they sell tickets depending on how many days you would like to go. I think the less days you're going to be going, the price is cheaper. This years expo lasts 4 days but im not sure abt the past ones.
Cant remmeber this years price but over $100 for all 4 days. Something like 60-70 for 1 day.

Today was my first and possibly last AX. Has AX always had such a problem managing crowds and lines? Their presentation is great but their line/crowd management is pretty poor. I hope this is just because it's the first AX in 2.5 years since the pandemic. But my brother's friend went on Day 1 and they did not have fun. Overcrowded as hell and even ordering food at the convention center was a hassle. An hour wait just for their food and then the kitchen was shut down due to running out of food. Is it always like this???
I have been to tons of San Diego Comic-Con Internationals and not even they're this disorganized. I will say this. AX definitely feels like Comic-Con once you get into the building. But not even their crowds are that disorganized.
IMO it's usually like this and it gets almost worse every year as it grows in popularity and attendance. There's a reason people jokingly say "line-con" at times lol.
Have only heard from other con-goers, but the consensus I've received is that it's always like that. It's unfortunate, but it seems like in order to have fun at AX you have to prepare yourself with the extreme overcrowding in mind. For me, I'm not planning to get any food at AX, bringing my own meals instead so I can stand in one less line.

@@BerryBearBeaver apparently it doesn't help the situation that the LA Convention Center just doesn't have enough room for such a huge event and being in downtown LA is a huge disadvantage as well.
@@lalalalisa41 yeah, had to wait in a crowd for roughly 1.5 hours just to get into the convention center. Once you get in, it's pretty cool. But you're still waiting in crowds and lines just to do something simple like taking a piss or get on an escalator.

Anime expo and japan expo 2 sides of a coin but perfectly balance...and then theres anime festival asia which has more attendance than the entirety of anime expo L.A cause all the fans are from the whole asian continent including the malay race(filipinos,indonesians and brunians)while anime expo only has americans from different states.
