this is an eaton m62 blower, they are a tad smaller then what other manufactures use, the nissan vg33 (3.3) is a pretty small engine compared to GM's 3800s. sometimes i wish i had one of these sitting ontop of my frontier.
Is it possible for your average joe to tear it down as far as you did, then bring the housing and snout to a dealer and have them install new bearings for me? Then just slap it all back together? My coupler and seal are bad, I figure I might as well replace the bearing too. No?
@berniedaboss yes, several companies do- with this style of s/c, the 'intercooler' is sandwiched between the bottom of the s/c and the intake manifold. Runs coolant, pumps it from the core to the heat exchanger out in front of the core support (most of the time)
@steelstrings1312 completely on ebay $1300-1500 heads injectors computer wiring loom blower belt everything, rest of the money goes to installation, if you can do it yourself it is cheap,
Gr8 Vid man, wtf is that super charger offa the size of it looks like it should be on a WWII fighter or something, over here in europe we only little teeny weeny blowers to go with our teeny weeny engines, then again we need teeny weeny engine cuz we have teeny weeny cars, but the we need teeny weeny cars to go on our teeny weeny roads Etc Etc.
not sure about this specific one, but my 03 Cobra, with a bigger version of that blower (Eaton M112) has a intercooler between it and the intake manifold from the factory.
thank u 4 your video, it has been very helpfull 4 me because im going 2 hav my m90 ported & hav 2 disemble it prior to dropping it off , if u think of anything i would need 2 know please do not hesitate. thanks again!
Roots superchargers aren't that expensive but twin screw superchargers are because they have extremely complicated rotors that probably took them a year to design.
if you pull the roots out of the housing on the car will it go back together and what is on the other end are there needle berrings in there like a cup on a u joint ???
when putting everything back together (serpentine belt)do you need to set the charger in a certain timing with the engine? or just put it back together ?
No synchronization necessary...just mount the supercharger to the intake manifold using a NEW gasket; afterward, simply attach the drive-belt & you're done!
+Collin Bru yea, like Tom said at 2:50 is the inlet. On my 1999 grand prix an air hose connects there and that air hose is first drawn thru a filter box to filter the raw air that is being pulled from the engine compartment.
Well you weren't listening when he said it was a junk charger and that he wouldn't attempt to take it apart if it were good. 01:40 is where he says this.
I want videos like this in my life more. This was insightful to me. 12...years...l8er...
i love when a video tells me exactly what i need to know, and nothing els. ty good sir
Sweet, never actually seen the insides of one before, only manuals and diagrams, got to love the simplicity.
Awesome little breakdown you did there -- cant thank you enough!
its amazing how we can make cars- things move easier for us, and we just sit back and chill !
they do have a screw shape to help efficiency, but are a roots blower. maybe he was confused by the shape.
thank u for posting. excellent video
Great video. Very detail. Finally found a m62 supercharger info

Great video. Thanks for sharing!
you made that look easy as hel!!!
Thanks man! this is an amazing video!
Much Appreciated. I'm very interested in these but I haven't the means to do this myself so Thank You,
Great vid. Hope to see more..
Greetings from the netherlands
Great video man! Now .. I just need to find one in the junk yard for my Jeep Wrangler :-) . Thanks for sharing. Have a great day!
thanks I always wanted to take a look on a supercharger...
Got to be a way to put this onto an Olds Quad 4.
Can you shed any insight about the gray coating on the blades ?
How did you know it needed new bearings?! Did it make a noise?

My coupler and seal are bad, I figure I might as well replace the bearing too. No?
Do you recommend changing your supercharger oil?
@berniedaboss yes, several companies do- with this style of s/c, the 'intercooler' is sandwiched between the bottom of the s/c and the intake manifold. Runs coolant, pumps it from the core to the heat exchanger out in front of the core support (most of the time)
thanks for posting kool vid

Wow thats for doing this its ver informative, Nice job 5 stars
Yes it is, its a eaton m90 twin screw, roots style supercharger, same kind they put on the pontiac GTP, SSEI, Regal GS, Rivera, Impala SS, M. Carlo SS
if you already tore it down why not just order the bearings from eaton and install them yourself?
Nice video !! 👍👍
Thanks for the demo. That's cool!
very well done props.

thats awesome!
good video. thank you!
looks like a very simple rebuild. why is it not recommend to open it? looks easyer than a starter rebuild.
the replacement of bearings on these superchargers requires a press and knowledge that the average DIY mechanic doesnt have.
So you much take your car to a dealer shop and replace with a NEW $5,000 UNIT.
that was cool man. thanks!
Thanks..works sort of like an oil pump
Thanks
Supply and demand... M90s are like $700 rebuild... and $250 used or cheaper at scrap yard.... Why does it have to cost $6-7k for my LS1!!!???
thanks great vid
badass man, thank you
@isurrendered try different pulleys if it is not factory build,
All you have to do to fix that supercharger is replace the coupler. Loof at how elongated those holes are at 2:37
@Wheatjr Where about? in north ga?
my guess? all the electronic modifications you have to do to put on one properly. that and you need a new intake.
@Wheatjr well the case is probably still ok, other than probably needing to be resurfaced now. haha
thank you sir =)
ok smart guy. explain the eaton-m90 powered 3.8 V6 motors. i have one. it's a roots blower. YOU look it up.
For something that can make your engine a beast, or turn your engine into scrap, it's a stupidly simple device really.
great clip, thanks for posting. would this be similiar to whats in a 99 c230 kompressor w202 engine?
I believe the superchargers were made by the same company, but the merc ones are smaller
hell yea man thanks!1
nice though I thought they were longer length

The Needle Bearings Were bad, I fixed this particular Blower later on. Coupler was fine.
How do you tell if the needle bearings are bad?
3oh How do you know if needle bearings are bad in a m90 supercharger?
3oh How do you know if needle bearings are bad in a m90 supercharger?
EXTREMELY precise tolerances and low production volumes

No synchronization necessary...just mount the supercharger to the intake manifold using a NEW gasket; afterward, simply attach the drive-belt & you're done!
I don't see a place to draw air....does it just increase intake flow? Like a vacuum boost to force more air to be drawn in?
That big hole in the side at 2:50
+Collin Bru yea, like Tom said at 2:50 is the inlet. On my 1999 grand prix an air hose connects there and that air hose is first drawn thru a filter box to filter the raw air that is being pulled from the engine compartment.
that dealership your working in looks horribly familiar
how difficult was it to remove the supercharger from the engine?
+Andrew Fish Depends on what car it's on.
do you work for firestone?
beautyful blower and nice english yo speakin there ...
is that a texas accent?
the way he handles this precise machine is why i would never take a car to a mechanic
Well you weren't listening when he said it was a junk charger and that he wouldn't attempt to take it apart if it were good. 01:40 is where he says this.
Ow loud intercom lady
lol time is money
Nice one, but dude slow down!
gloves dude...really?
Eeeeeengine...
Awesome video, thanks for sharing
