      Hi Windy, you cant go wrong with a J94, just be carefull not to run them at high speed or the motors can have problems. They really are perfect for shunting, I hope you manage to find some more. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

    That's a nice collection of J94s Paul. Very smooth runners as well. I find the 060s very reliable doing shunting on my old points. Gee you have done a good job with the detail in your layout. Alot of work goes into the detail, yet goes unseen or not noticed by the viewer. Great vid mate. Steven.

    • @paulvozman842
      @paulvozman842  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi Steven, These J94s are superb runners and perfect for my tight curves. The wheel arrangement and gearing makes these great shunters. I have had to replace some motors but apart from that they are quite reliable. I had a plan for a bigger industrial area but space was limited. The Engineering works is based on the company where I learned my trade as a Plant and Diesel Mechanic. The trucks,cranes and buses have the correct colors and the types like Bedford, Leyland are also correct.
      I later went on to work for the Cement Company hence its a big part of the industrial area.
      Thanks for your support and grat comments its really appreciated. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

      @@paulvozman842 Hi Paul, I use a cheap metal floorlamp with adjustable head in which I have put a 25W 4000K (= "daylight", in between "cold" and "warm") LED-lamp. 25W led is something like 200W conventional lamp. I put that lamp behind the camera when filming the layout. I move it together with the camera. My camera is a midrange compact camera. My Samsung A14 phone is great at filming in low light conditions and it had a wide angle lense which makes the layout look bigger, but the microphone is producing poor sound recordings, so I don't use it very often. My small compact camera is also easier to just put somewhere on the layout and full from that angle.
      I must say your videos are very crisp and sharp and I think in most places of your layout the light conditions are good. And most of all, technical quality is not what makes a video interesting, you are always presenting the video in a very interesting way, that's what makes them interesting. Have a nice day 🙋‍♂️

    • @paulvozman842
      @paulvozman842  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@railway187 Hi Erik, I have thought of filming with a light behind the camera, as you suggest the light can move together with the Camera. I have a Selfie stick with a built in light so might try that with my Samsung Camera. I have no natural light in my attic so tend to get many shadows when filming unless I am close up to the Locos.
      I might upload a video on Thursday night with the extra lighting. I am visiting Technical Museums in Germany next week and will be making videos of the Locos and some Submarines to show when I return. Cheers, Paul.

    Hi, Paul! Very nice little steamers, and seeing the video I just realized (at the double traction moment) that having two little locomotives together, the problem of lack of power over the switches would be solved (at least for this type of traction). They would simply support each other, pushing or pulling the one who lacks power over an isolated switch heart. On the other hand, glad to see you have a Schwarze Anna, I have this model from Fleischmann, too. There are two such variants for this little steamer, one with simpler connecting rods, the other with more complex connecting rods. I guess the difference is either from the years of production or from the product range (hobby/start set or ”expert” or somehow like this). Thanks for the video, have a great new week! / Chris

    • @paulvozman842
      @paulvozman842  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi Chris, the 2 Steamers run very well together and have great pulling power. They actually run very well over points on their own as all the wheels have pickups. As you say they do help each other passing points especially if the track is dirty. My Ana is the Hobby version from the information I have, its a great little Loco and I am happy to have saved it by fitting a new motor.
      Thanks for watching and the great comments you have good knowledge of these Locos.

    Hi Paul that was a good watch,nice and smooth in reverse too! I have some wagons like that where i have to work out which will work in what place,so i write a number on the underside of the wagon to work it out !

    • @paulvozman842
      @paulvozman842  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi Michael, I have a disliking for Hornby and Bachman wagon wheels as the flange profiles are wrong. The flange running on the track is flat where it should be slightly tapered as in the real thing. I have replaced most of them with Lima Plastic Ho wheels that have good flange depth and profiles. I have also added weight to the wagons as they can be very light. I found the D Coupling hooks would foul the buffer beam on the next wagon and so on when reversing. Trimming the end of the hook slightly cured this as did mixing the positions of the wagons in the rake. I have spent many an hour trying to solve the derailing when reversing and drank gallons of tea in the process. Finally it looks like I have cracked it and can now shunt away without having to re-rail the wagons.
      Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

      @@paulvozman842 Hi Paul i was going to say have you weighted them! I bought a rake of 4 Lima Texaco tankers and 2 Lima Esso Red tankers,my God i reckon that there are at least 4 different wheel types on them.I may have to change them for one type to get them running right.I must have got lucky with my Lima milk tankers,i haven't had any problem with these at all.Oh well Paul we live and learn.(btw i only paid £22 for 6 Lima twin bogged tankers).

      @@michaeldavies9600 Hi Michael, I soon discovered that our European friends design better wheels. I have have no problems reverse shunting any of my Piko, Roco, Lima wagons etc. I have just bought a pack of 24 x 10mm wheels to replace some of my Mehano wagon wheels that are too wide and derail. I dont personnaly mind running plastic wagon wheels I just try and keep them clean. I find Lima wagons are quite good if a little light and do stay on track very well with a bit of weight added.
      Sounds like you had a bargain with the twin bogie Lima Tankers, they will make a great rake. Cheers, Paul.

    Hi Paul, that little Anna locomotive is doing great, and it's remarkable how silent all of your locomotives are running. You are very good in repairing old model train motors: I wonder if you know whether Fleischmann brushes (no 6519) also fit in Lima ringfield motors? I was looking on Ebay for new Lima brushes and springs and I could only find Fleischmann. Greetings, Erik

    • @paulvozman842
      @paulvozman842  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi Erik, I have replaced Fleischmann brushes with Lima brushes in one of my Ho Locos so assume the Fleischmann brushes would also fit in the Lima Locos.
      The Fleischmann brushes have one copper mesh brush and one carbon brush. The copper brush cleans the armature as well as providing electrical contact. You would have to cut down the Lima spring a little as the Fleischmann brushes are longer than the Lima ones.
      Hornby Ringfield brushes are the same size as Lima brushes, I would suggest fitting these.
      Look on Ebay.uk for "Peters Spares" he has the Ringfield brushes in sets of 10 with springs.
      I hope this helps. Cheers, Paul.

    • @railway187
      @railway187 Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@paulvozman842 I will look for Hornby brushes then, thank you for your advice. I know Peter Spares is a great shop, but I am a bit reluctant to order outside of the EU, because Belgium has huge import taxes (except if there's a contract on taxes, such as with Aliexpress). Modellbahn Union is specialised in Hornby and other OO producers. I will look there. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!

      Hi Al, I have just a few more Steamy Sunday videos to make and that will conclude my series. This will have to wait as I am going away for a few weeks. When I return I hope to show some videos of amazing European Locos in museums.
      I bought my Fairground bit by bit on Ebay mostly Faller Kits from Germany, the Ferris Wheel was an unfinished kit from Belgium. It took a long time to assemble the Waltzer and Swings and get them running. I have a wiring problem at the moment and lost power to the motors. I will try and get them working again one day.
      The Salt and Pepper Cement wagons are from Lima, I also have some of the European versions.
      I always appreciate your support and comments.
