    Is Dangote advocating for power business?
    I actually don't think so, because he can already get into the power sector as a private company.
    Even the law now allows individual states to generate their own power.
    One thing he said that surprised me is the amount of tax govt takes on business revenue. 52%? That can't be true.
    The govt taxes telecom companies even more.
    Instead of taxing so much, the govt needs to have standards in place, where companies are ordered to improve service. For example, order FTTH in individual homes. The faster our Internet, the more profit business makes, and the more tax revenue govt takes receives in the long run.
    Dangote is very correct about smuggling. Our borders are porous. The problem has been there for generations. Nobody has tried to fix it.

    • @tomishift
      @tomishift Před 3 lety

      Last time I checked, states can't really generate their own power. Why? Because there are regulations that limit the size of power generation and transmission & frustrate the economics to do so. E.g. Mini grid generation cap in Nigeria is 1MW. Around the world, it is 10MW. Why? I don't know
      And once you generate more than1MW, you must connect to the national grid.

One way out is to bring in good generator producers to assembly them locally with possible local content development. The government and private sectors should subsidised the gens for their staff.
