I think it looks kinda cool when that happens! But if you don't want it to crack while drying, I would get oven bake clay. It won't crack, but you have to use an oven safe jar/glass

You can always use oven bake clay! Just make sure your jar is oven safe. You could also use a hair dryer on the air dry clay while its drying, to help the outside not dry as quickly! (The outside dries quicker than the inside so it causes cracking) Just warm up the outside with the dryer maybe twice a day

Every time I've made a mushroom jar it's cracked over the glass cause the clay shrinks when it dries :(

It's air dry clay! Just make sure after you paint them to seal them with something like mod podge so the paint doesn't chip/crack
