It's like the devs are hugely unaware of these and do not even play their own games. It boggles the mind they miss these things.

The game honestly looks so much better... I get that people are upset with Blizz (and I am too) for lying to their players, but at least the game looks quite good now. The 1080p cutscenes are beautiful, and the avatars and models do look quite nice.
I just watched the campaign in classic and reforged, back-to-back, and I really do have to disagree with most comments. The visuals were done very nice without straying from the classic experience.
There's still some love put into this.
@@johncurry7225 Don't. There's no point. People have gotten so absorbed with their anger towards Blizzard, that they don't care if they're throwing legitimate good work under the bus. Hell I've seen so many interesting lore-friendly callbacks in the models, I know people are wrong when they act like Lemonsky Studio (the outsourced company who did the models) did a cheap and easy job. Cairne's using the Runspear, regular Tauren Chieftain use the Axe of the Chieftain from WoW and tons of others. Too many neat little details to be the work of someone who doesn't care.

How much of a choice he had, if you think about it... Mission must`ve been acomplished at all cost, the fate of entire kingdom was at stake, and all of his friends, half of his men, and his teacher abandoned him whithout suggesting anything as an alternative. He only went truly mad when Frostmourne took over.
@@LightCrasher No, Arthas was already in the wrong for a long time, he should have listened to the Raven Seer and lead his people to Kalimdor and allied with the night elves. Also, being a prince doesn't exempt you from crime of treason or from knowingly refusing a direct order from his father the King. Using those mercenaries and betraying him only made him even more evil as well as lying to his men to force them into a war against royal edict and in the desolate north while having destroyed their only means of going home, not a single tough for his men there. Also in the book when Frostmourn killed Murradin, Arthas almost had a change of heart, he kneeled next to Murradin's corpse and put his hand on him, and then the light began to glow faintly around his hand, but then his gaze fell on the Rune Blade and his soul was lost forever...
Also lich king actually prophesized that Arthas would come and join the darkness. Interesting how the prophecy of the prophet failed and lich kings succeeded

I could tell with the opening cinematic - the Orc’s face didn’t match his scream (looked like he was lip-synching), but in the original of Warcraft 3, when he screams he looks ANGRY.
Looks like there are some more missteps too.

Because remaking the cinematic where Arthas kills his father would've just been too hard for Blizzard. God this remake is so half assed, they took all this extended time for a glorified texture pack.
Well actually making even a minute of high quality CGI takes lots of money and lots of time. To me the bigger deal was that they didnt properly remake all the INGAME cutscenes like they originally intended to....and thus those really detailed character models are rather wasted now cause the one thing where you could have really taken full advantage of them would have been in cutscenes.
The only cutscene they remade was the very first one with Grunt vs Footman, other just rescaled

The fact that this mission isnt on a rainy day like the OG kills so much mood and the scene after the mission's location change feels tacky and the fact that arthas doesnt run towards mal ganis when he screames TO THE END OF THE EARTH!! kills the vengeful emotions

I swear the character animation in the original had emoting faces. These remastered portraits are really wooden.
And the characters themselves are super stale in cutscenes, they just stand and turn
The heads should wobble a bit. Moving to the left and right, towards the player and away from him. Here they just make the mouths move and the rest just stands still. Very jarring

@@xLetalis It's a 17 year old game with modern graphics. The old portraits weren't emotive, they were ridiculous. Each face had like 5 polygons and mouths opened absurdly wide because anything less was a waste of modeling character faces to begin with. Characters stood and turned in the original too. All Reforged did was flip the assets to make things look more modern. I get people are kinda miffed but this was exactly what I was expecting from the outset. Stratholme cutscene was a bitch move though.

What they did with this project is a scandal. Blizzard of old is long dead, the CEO leaving was the nail in the coffin. That they had the gall to put this out in this state, after going back on all of their promises and ambitions for what they said they wanted with this...
I don't understand the outrage, this looks exactly like what we've seen months ago so I don't see where they shirked on their promises? I didn't follow this title in games media so could you enlighten me on this?

You guys are clearly not aware of the huge difference between what was promised and what was delivered. Even now Blizzard STILL advertises for this game using promises of features that they've long-since abandoned. That in itself is a severe case of false advertisement and should be enough for consumer protection groups and laws to go after them, imo.
On top of that, add the graphical downgrade, the shit-poor performance, the fact that they didn't address a huge number of issues identified during the beta, etc etc, and all this despite delaying the game several times.
You don't have to share the disappointment, if you're happy with the game, good for you. No seriously, good for you, you can enjoy it for what it is and be happy with your purchase. But it's a bit ignorant at best and dismissive at worst to say that there's nothing to be disappointed about.

Warcraft 3 is one of my top favorite games of all time, yet I'm not terribly thrilled with this remaster :( I've got performance issues despite my beefy PC, and most of the remastered cutscenes are kind of bland ... Seems I'll be going back to the Witcher 3 quicker than I thought.

My favorite games are the Witcher 3, Warcraft 3 and Dragon Age: Origins. I didn't buy the remastered and I heard bad things about it. Maybe i will return to the old w3 someday but not reamastered.

Honestly I bought reforged solely for the promise of reforged cinematic, it was just an expensive movie ticket for me. But hell, even that was fake.
They lured us in with the remade opening cinematic, only to cuck as with an interns pet project.
At least you lost the good old wc3, cause those greedy trashfaces in blizz just patched out it...

I really liked the Arthas arc throughout W3 and up to WoW.
In fact, this is a very similar story, as in Darth Vader, but at times more terrible and terrifying than it was in Star Wars.
And there are still differences in motivations, etc. But the way the game's writers showed his fall and transformation into a Lich King is worthy of respect.
First time i saw Arthas i immediately said to myself (after finishing the human campaign)...this is Warcrafts Darth Vader.

The characters are overly detailed, but the rest is low poly. It's like they made the model for the real remaster but then blizztivision decided to just 'screw it, how do we make this cheaply'

@@anti6868 right?! Why couldn't they have just cleaned up the old models? Look at World of warcraft; they updated the old character models; have way more polygons, they're much cleaner and have a lot more detail...yet they're still very obviously stylized.
And these updated WC3 models are so STIFF?! Especially the portraits! The old portraits had wild expressions, mouth movements, their heads swung wildly all over the frame....these new ones are like ventriloquist puppets....bleh. major disappointment.

The old portraits had wild expressions because of the lack of polygons. They were made to be expressive and cartoonish because of the limitations at the time. But to have the characters emote that exact same way for much more realistic portraits isn't fitting. Reforged has been a complete disappointment but lets not get blinded by nostalgia and claim that the original portraits are superior to this.
The detailed models are the only good things about this game. Blizzard should have followed suit with the rest. It's not like talented terrainers and cutscene makers are lacking in the fanbase, some of them could have been hired for it.
When 18 year old character portrait animations have more soul than the 2020 "remaster" or remake or whatever
The remake doesn't seem done... The ingame cutscenes seem so stiff and awkward.
It looks like only a small handful of cutscenes were actually worked on, with the rest just consisting of the same scenes plastered over with the new models with some slightly changed camera angles. Which goes to show that either resources were diverted elsewhere during development or Blizzard just simply stopped giving a shit early in development.
Actually he is right to some degree killing malganis was badass but only how he stabbed him, it is incomplete and poorly done except those frames.
Arthas spinning was bad and how he left the scene was poorly done. The original even with ugly square models gave more dramatisation to the scenes with extra effects

Why do the portrait animations remind me of NPC dialogues in Runescape. Like when they're talking, their facial expressions never change and the only body movement is from their static breathing animation

If one closes their eyes and listens to the voice acting - which is actually good - and imagine if Blizzard kept their promises and kept to the cutscene shown before, it becomes even more depressing.

More I play more I justify Cullling of Stratholme, I'm not saying it wasn't awful but it was necessary. Mal'ganis was raising people, I would rather die in the hand of paladin then server a dreadlord as mindless undead to harm my kin. Thanks to Arthas scourge somewhat contained.

Played through the OG several times and I disagree, still both are available
@@Ragnarok6664 Not anymore. When Reforged officially went live players of the OG were forced to update. This meant a lot of custom games are now broken and no custom campaigns because the Reforged client doesn't support them.

You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Not a WOW fan although I have enjoyed their games but it’s clear that Arthas took the bait hook line and sinker, no matter how good your intentions are using evil to fight evil always has its consequences.
