    The DMW-XLR1 is a clean simple audio adapter for the Panasonic GH5. This will give you better audio quality and more flexibility for capturing audio. I also show you a few CAME-TV cages that can be used seamlessly with the adapter mounted on the Hotshoe of the camera, along with a sneak peek of the new Azden SGM-250CX Short Shotgun microphone

    This video was really helpful for understanding the possibilities of the xlr adapter. Do you ever have any interference type noise when you use the Azden mic? It happens on its own, but also when I put a lav mic in the other xlr slot.

    Just bought the CAME-TV pass through cable for the DMW-XLR1 from Adorama and B&H, but the DMW-XLR1 won't slide in all the way into the small off camera hot shoe part of the CAME-TV cable. I see that the DMW-XLR1 is getting power, but the audio levels always appear maxed out and do not record sound properly. I want to buy this cable directly from CAME-TV, but not sure the next cable will avoid the problem. When I connect the exact same setup to the GH5 w/o the cable, it works perfectly. I wonder if I'm missing anything or if anyone else has seen this issue.

    Is there a way I can have the DMW-XLR1 go into channel 1 and have the internal camera mic be channel 2 or vice versa? Am having trouble figuring out if that is possible.

    If I am using a Atomos Monitor recorder and AVX Wireless mics and I am still picking up the fans from the Atomos Ninja Inferno Monitor recorder, do I use the Low-Cut option to deal with this? My subject person I am interviewing is over 5 metres away.

    Hi thanks for video - hey do you think this setup would support a longer lens like the Pana leica 100-400mm? I'm not sure how that little lens adaptor support works... looking for a rig to suit wildlife filmmaking..

    • @MrCheesyCam
      @MrCheesyCam  Před 7 lety

      The extra piece is used for Lens Adapters or lenses that have a 1/4" tripod mount built in (like canon 70-200 or cinema lenses). If you want to use a big lens, but don't have a tripod mount on the lens, you can use the 15mm rods with a Lens Support like this: amzn.to/2vkt1gH

    Have you had any trouble with recording audio with the XLR in camera vs recording audio externally. I assume you can't record audio on separate channels with the XLR accessory?

    • @MrCheesyCam
      @MrCheesyCam  Před 7 lety +1

      recording externally can often be a pain if you have to sync up multiple audio and video clips later in post. To make this easier you coult use timecode generators but that will run at least $409 for a set of two. If for some reason you record 23.98 or 29.97, then you'll run into 'drift' issues after several minutes as the framerate won't match the recording hz.
      Sending audio directly in camera is the easiest, but at the same time limiting compared to some features that pro audio recorders might have (compressor, limiter, eq, etc). Of course 80% of your audience may only warch your video on youtube with an iphone so just how good do you need your audio to be?
      To answer your other question, yea of course you can record the teo xlr inputs on different channels. One goes to left aide and one goes to right side.

    I have have found that using a mic that uses phantom power drains the batteries too fast. I use a Rode mic that takes a 9 volt battery and use an xlr adapter.

    • @MrCheesyCam
      @MrCheesyCam  Před 6 lety

      Cool. But in that case you would not need the XLR adapter for GH5. Just use the mic straight in. I prefer the sound captured by this Azden over the Rode VideoMic whenever I need best audio. If it’s just general audio the VideoMic is a good one.

    • @MrCheesyCam

      The XLR adapter is panasonic only. The Azden mic works on any camera but needs phantom power and xlr.

    Is this the same cable as a Panasonic off camera ttl flash cable?

    • @MrCheesyCam
      @MrCheesyCam  Před 7 lety

      +Jesse Delgado The GH4 and GH5 hotshoe pins are different. I can't verify if the flash cables being sold would work. This Audio adapter only works on the GH5, so if the cables being sold says it will work with other cameras, it may not have the same pin out.

    Hey Emm, I've been a long time fan! I'm about to launch some of my own products (perhaps I can send some out to you for review down the road) and am looking to setup a similar table and backdrop to what you have Of all the product demo videos online, I find yours are some of the cleanest and best shot. Can you share with me a few things? What is the tabletop you use and how long and deep is it (ie 6'x3', etc)? How far are you from your backdrop and what kind of backdrop is that? I can't expect you to share all of your secrets, though any help would be much appreciated :) I know you did a video awhile back about backdrops and whatnot, though think that was before your current setup. Thank you! -Sam

    • @MrCheesyCam
      @MrCheesyCam  Před 6 lety +1

      I’m using a standard white tabletop from ikea. You can find it in their store for cheap. You can throw it in top of any other table, or even cheap sawhorses from the hardware store. I’m about 5-6ft from the backdrop. This way you can control what your backdrop looks like vs the way you put light on your table.
