      You are right LJ! Since 1978, this is the fourth Boston Whaler that I have owned. Absolutely love them and anything over 15 feet is more size than I need. I love how, despite besides, you can do just about anything in them.

      @LJ-jq8og oh yes, lots of Boston Whalers down in the Bahamas. They are highly sought after. Definitely will get stolen if left out in the open. Maybe if there's some type of U Stor It facility? Kept under roof and locked behind doors.

    Cliff this brings back great memories. I lived on Boca Ciega bay as a child in the 80s. My friend had a 17 ft Boston whaler Montauk with Evinrude javelin 90. we took that thing all up and down the intercoastal in Pinellas county in the Tampa Bay and out to the Gulf over to Egmont key. That boat banged the hell out of us with it's tri hull , but we didn't care a bit. great times

      @KayakCliff  Před 2 měsíci

      Those were some great times growing up on the Gulf coast back in the 80s with Whalers! I'm amazed how much better the 13 footer rides now compared to way back then. I bet the 17 Montauk is completely different in how it rides now as well. Not as much a Tri-hull anymore. More of a deeper V cut. Have a great one!

    Inland coastal waterways is the Mecca of boating in my opinion. There's just so much semi protected water and coast to explore. There's boats and boat storage everywhere along the highways in Florida by the water. Especially down in the keys. Even coming from San Diego the sheer amount of boats there is nuts. Lots of fishing. We love it on our visits.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Před 2 měsíci

      California just is not a good place to boat, simply because there are no inland intercostal waterways. The only bays are San Diego and San Francisco. With both the intercoastal and a usual calm gulf, the West Coast of Florida is the best place ever!!!

    Kayaking through downtown Jacksonville
    a few months ago there were pods of dolphins
    all around me...8-10 small pods that were chasing
    and catching fish....they were graceful and coordinated.
    2 broke away and swam up next to me to have a look....
    Then after about 2 minutes they rejoined the group.
    Take care ..be safe

      Hi Ken - enjoy that new Sea Eagle 380X! I love my Sea Eagle Boats and kayaks!
      26,000 new would be a great price for a super sport Boston Whaler. I've noticed they're more like 29,000. Got mine used eight months old for a good bit less than 26k. Have a great week!

    Cliff, look at the latest video from the chsnnel, The Sailing Brothers. These English brothers have a wonderful dolphin encounter yachting here in New Zealand's Marlborough Sounds. My favourite boat, the small Boston Whaler, good choice. They're fuel efficient ski boats too with a nice small wake. Thanks for the very enjoyable video.

      Hi 👋 - That’s great! If you are like me, you won’t be disappointed. In my life I have had 5 Boston Whalers. A 9’ when I was around 11 or 12, then
      a 13’ when I was 13. Then a 13, 15 and now back to my current 13 as an adult! Only brand of boat I will own. There resell value is outstanding,
      they can do practically anything, while doing it safely. Enjoy yours whenever you get it!

    Here is a video idea, take the Paddleski to Austin and put it out on Lady Bird Lake on a weekend. Many many paddleboarders on that lake on the weekend. Would make some interesting video. Or one of your kayak or canoe. There are three boat ramps on the lake on the north side. One ramp doesn't look alike a boat ramp much be would be fine for the paddleski. All street parking is free on the Sundays near the ramps, fyi.

      Thanks, Brad! I really love paddling down in Austin. I've done it several times. Here is a video of a paddleboard I did on Lady Bird Lake. If I took the paddle ski, it has to be electric motor only, right?

    That looked like a shark

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Před 4 dny

      Oh, it can definitely be deceiving at times! What you need to look for is the tail fin. If it is ululating up and down, that is a dolphin or a whale. If it is ululating side-to-side, that is a shark, which undulates its tail side to side like any other fish, which is what a shark is. A dolphin is a mammal, and it's tail fin always undulates up and down.

    What are the worst conditions you've had that boat out in? Gas mileage?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  Před 2 měsíci

      Great question Sam! To answer that question, I have the benefit of being a carefree teenager back in the late 70s and 80s with my classic 13 foot whaler. Those classic Whalers are not as sea worthy as today's current models, in my opinion. Never tested that though....... Back then, there were some days where I would be coming through a channel with a strong tidal current and strong wind. I swear some days it seemed like 5 to 6 foot seas. Back in those days, that classic whaler took such a beating, that I cracked the internal engine block inside the mercury 40. Dad was not happy! The hull was ready for more! Durable as can be!
      As an adult who makes better decisions, I have been caught out in lakes when a summer storm came through with 3 to 4 foot waves. No problem at all.

    • @sam-y8t
      @sam-y8t Před 2 měsíci +1

      @KayakCliff Nice! I've been working on an old 20' McKee from 1973, and I was wondering what it might take. Back then, that was their "offshore" model.
