- Ring customers could receive a refund after the company settled a lawsuit, according to the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC said the refunds will total more than $5.6 million. The lawsuit settlement involved charges that Ring allowed employees and contractors to access consumers’ private videos all while failing to implement security protections.

5 million dollars divided by 15 million customers. come on. they got away with a massive crime. this isn’t even a slap on the hand. this is a tax deduction
Yes, every one is lucky if they get $5.00 😂
Can't wait for my 33 cents...
They said maybe $47.00 🙄🤣
You are absolutely right.
But 30 cents goes so far in this era of Bidenflation. If you get a hundred people to combine their settlements, they might be able to buy one Big Mac. 🤣🤦🏼♀️
your privacy is worth 47 dollars to RING
Not to RING- to the FTC.
i got a paypal email about getting $47.70 from ring, i went to accpet and they wanted my SSN and im like .... I DON'T THINK SO, keep your $47.70
Lawyers win millions. Victims get $47. I guess that’s better than nothing. Companies get fined, victims get nothing.
@@audreycolantuoni2414 i had paypal mail me my check because they wanted a SSN to transfer to my bank account ... i said nice try but NO
At least they put a price on it. Apple and google are stealing our data and building a empire
How bout the privacy violations that Apple iPhones and all apps break! Every time I say something it magically appears on my phone as soon as it’s opened.
Yep
The truth is more disturbing
I’ve noticed it’s even worse lately
You give Apple permission or you dont have an iPhone . Read the fine print when updating….
It’s not Apple. Every company in the U.S. monitors your phone through the microphone. They are listening 24/7 to every conversation you have.
5.6 million dollars isn’t a punishment it’s an endorsement by the government.
5.6 millions is nothing, it should of been higher, more like 56 million
More like 500 billion!.
Should have been 36 trillion…plus payout to consumers. Gets that national debt paid off!
YOU….should HAVE …learned ENGLISH!!!
More like 556 million there a multi billion dollar company if I'm not mistaken if not the company that owns them Amazon definitely is
@@traybern 👍 It’s really bad that we now have generations who grew up not reading for pleasure. “Should’ve” sounds like “should of”. People who don’t read would not know it is “have”, and it’s a race to the bottom. And the majority will abuse you for correcting them, no matter how gentle and polite you are. They’d rather continue to display how ignorant and uneducated they are, than be corrected once and saved from embarrassing themselves for a the rest of their lives.
Interestingly, autocorrect changed “of” to “have” in my comment. I fixed it, and it autocorrected a second time.
Have a wonderful day. 📚 🍎 ✏ 📏
Pocket change for Amazon
They are worried about TikTok!!! This is an enormous violation!!!
Lol!!! The fact y'all want cameras that are connected to the internet in your homes is hilarious.
We told ya so. "Just a conspiracy theory." We're batting a thousand.
As they should be worried about Tik Tok!
@@Steve-fx2fbyou over here laughing, but if you own a smartphone, you’re in the same boat. As a matter of fact, you being on CZcams right now put you in the same boat. Wether you like it or not, we’re all being spied on
@@elijahpiere5324 I don't. Got rid of that back in 2019 when I saw the writing on the wall.
@@elijahpiere5324 Wanna know the difference? I have electrical tape on my phone. I'm not being seen in my birthday suit by the camera company's employees.
How many smart devices do you have? Be honest. Lol. You seem defensive.
Kawabunga, $47 will not compensate the customers, and $5M is nothing to Amazon… Can we actually fine these companies an amount they will care about?
This violation of privacy should force Amazon to pay 5+ million dollars to each and every individual who has an active Ring camera. Not just 5 million split between thousands of people. That's BS!.
Everyone is getting $40 back.
That's not even gas money for ur car 🤦
5 million dollars each? Go get a job you bum 🤡.
Not even a refund as they word it because I paid more than that for it.
Ironically the guy hammering on about privacy concerns has an Alexa on his bookshelf.
And he has a notification waiting. I wonder if it is his settlement of $47.
😂
What do you think Alexa does all day?
Exactly! That's why I don't have either one. I'm a software developer, I know better. LOL!
And Edward Snowden was correct!
I unplugged her. After I caught her spying...
Sit by the couch ordering bons bons and watching people do stupid crap on their ring cameras 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I hate Alexa not trained to understand accents.
@@mariapilarme she did have problems understanding our Texas accents. Her blue light would just spin. Unplugged.
The federal government should be sued for selling consumers out.
Ring (now owned by Amazon) had over $675 million in revenue ending 2023. This "settlement" is laughable. Is there some information missing in this report? Who is affected? Were they notified in 2019 when the issue took place? How will they be contacted after the fact? Suppose they don't have Paypal? Were these internal cameras or external cameras? Geez not even safe with security companies. Where ARE the Checks and Balances for such secure and private information and camera footages!?
Wow!
That audio switch from reporter to voice over scared tf out of me. My volume is loud, and I thought someone was standing behind me in my room lmao
Fun!😂😂😂
Affirmative action hires who are less qualified can't get it right.
☠️☠️☠️
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I peeped that out too! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gimme my money… all of it… my $47. 😁
NOW!
Also probably you won’t be able to file a lawsuit against them again.
😂😂😂
Immediately
Fines like these are a joke. A slap on the wrist. People are going to get 47 dollars. It should be so much higher than 5 million.
I want all $5 million for emotional damage!
Lol very poor video editing cuts off reporters mid sentence.
lol you caught that too
Me:"i dont like smart devices, they are recording me."
Them:"no, you're just paranoid, shut up nothing is going to happen."
Them later:"how could this have happened? I stuck my head in the sand, I'm supposed to be safe!"
I love being called paranoid because it just means I'll be right in a few years. Every single time.
Well, y'all get ready for a $22 dollar (each) settlement.
Hey thats gas money😂😂😂😂
Gas money! 🤷♀️
Exactly. Almost a full tank with Biden’s perfect economy. This video was a waste of time.
‘I’ before ‘E’, except after ‘C’.
@sammyday3341 . . . or when sounded as A, as in neighbor or way. 👍yw
I before E, except after D😂
That saying isn't very profi*cie*nt
Then there are the exceptions. I never learned the entire rhyme. Fortunately I was a bookworm, and never had to study spelling.

English is weird, so get used to it.
5 million is NOTHING to Amazon.
Just wait until people find out that mobile phone cameras and mics can be accessed remotely at will by the OS/phone manufacturer. 😂
5.6 million is not even a micro drop in the bucket
That's not even enough to pay their subscription for their cameras
Stop buying cameras with service buy your own damn hard drives and no iCloud crap no subscription fees this would not happen to anyone
All of the video is stored on their cloud server, which means they have access to your data at anytime. Doesn't matter if you changed your password.
Lawyers made out like bandits again.
$47 isnt worth all the information that was leaked 🤷🏾♂️
Ring owner: $47
Law firm: $1,000,000
Yeah, but it doesn’t say anything about Ring and Amazon giving law enforcement video without customer knowledge. You have to opt out and they don’t make easy.
Apparently they don't do give out info to police anymore
@@kiddadd If you believe that then I feel sorry for you. Our data is being harvested and sold to data brokers through all our devices and even our cars. On star can track your cars data and sell it to insurance companies while newer cars copy your phones data if you link it and sell it to whoever wants it. That includes messages and photos. Not only that but they have it forever, we all our fucked unless we band together on this issue. Enough is enough.
Really your privacy is only worth $47 dollars! 😳
My home is covered in Ring camers
Love the guy's Amazon Echo lighting up in the background 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
The arbitrary fine needs to be based on how many people were affected x $5k to each. This would teach a lesson.
47$ wow! This is ridiculous...
Now look into Alexa...
The government definitely listening to us I whispered my grandma that I don’t in my life do to actions anyways when said it my Alexa I kid you not started talking about Nancy Pelosi it freaked me out I’ve still my Alexa but it was like what the fyuck
I wouldn't put an Alexa in my house for a million dollars. I'm totally serious. That thing freaks me out!!
If they broke the law before what makes them think more laws are going to solve the problem🤔🤨?? Then that settlement doesn't take into account the future harm these people could face from the stolen info, ie identity theft😮🤦!
It’s funny how they suggest changing your passcode to the Wi-Fi or to your ring. The problem is if you have a smart home with smart devices and too many of them every time you change the password, you have to reconnect every single smart device.
47 bucks??? For lack of trust in electronic devices. No way ,,
How does $46 compensate for potential data breach which can lead to identity theft?
47 dollars =1 large 2 topping pizza and a 12 pack of beer….Yup! Works for me!
For people who have had ring camera from before 2018. Looks like anything after 2018 not likely to get anything from it
everyone who has a ring should sue together Amazon now everybody while we can lets take this into our hands
yay 47 dollar happy meal for me all day
You wish. Thats maybe a Big Mac 😂😂😂
Me like
😂
This is why there should not be a monetary settlement. It should be a criminal court case with people going to jail.
Anyone else here to point out the fact that they spelled *receive wrong in the ticker?
Your privacy is available for a mere $47 per the court, and only if a company gets caught.
$47 dollars. Wow. How about refund my purchase price of all 3 of my ring cameras just a thought
At this point, you really have to ask yourself if it's worth the loss of your privacy to have a 24/7 camera on your doorbell.
And what is this PayPal crap? My father bought a ring camera he barely has the Internet he definitely doesn’t have a PayPal account so what now he just doesn’t get his refund?
And they will keep doing it
It listens to every word you say 24/7.
I have one in my house.
Whatever I say in my home, will show up in my CZcams recommended videos within minutes.
Their app on mh iPhone listens also, even if the app is off.
I put my phone in airplane mode and that seems to shut off the eavesdropping.
Getting a faraday bag soon and putting tape over the camera microphone tomorrow.
That’s a drop in the bucket and all Ring cameras should be eligible.
Your settlement is 24 cents before taxes 😂
Them using the footage without permission is a pointless fight. They are still going to do it, they are just going to hide the permission in their terms of service. They will just change their terms, put somewhere in the fine print that simply using their service Gives them permission to access your videos and use them as they want. People who have invested in multiple security cameras around their property are going to just click "accept" probably without even reading the terms of service, but either way, they are not going to replace $1200 worth of cameras to go with a different service.
47$ each wow , looks like it's Mcds for two
Can’t wait to receive my 3 cents
Funny they don't mention the one privacy violation that changing your password will NOT put a stop to. That's the cops having unlimited, warrantless & consentless access to everyone's Ring Camera footage. 😑
Are you guilty of something? Who cares
@@Chris-kl2xz some people have Ring stick-up cameras inside the house. That would be a big concern.
@@genxx2724 Thank you. I couldn't summon the patience to break it down for the Genxx person i.e., nanny cams & indoor security, etc., a small thing called The Constitution, the right to privacy, and the importance of not giving away our rights nor taking them for granted.
How about make the cameras work without the internet access needed. Blue tooth or hard wire to local PC. Then, there is no online issue. And no stupid annual fee for the same product and same program we've already paid for charged again each year!
Someone sue them again, outrageous!!! How stupid can you be??????
So 25$ a person?
Slow down there…$2.50. 😂😂😂
What a joke. $5M is nothing for Ring.
5.6 Million dollars to Amazon is not just a crumb off of their plate. It’s an atom. What a joke.

This is partly why I don't have one inside my home.
Duh... you're being watched through your cameras...
They cut her off @0:26😂
47$ 😂😂😂😂
$47 is laughable🤣🤣
$45 is a slap in the face
That fine is not even a day's worth of interest on the cash amazon holds.
I found out most cameras footage is seen outside of your network when you install a VPN you cant access your cameras after a minute of using cause they won't let you, meaning you are not the only one that has access to your cameras!
😂😂😂 47$for violating privacy 🤦🏽♂️
Then sue them for 100 million and make sure it does not happen again
they should be paying me for my ring device since im afraid to use it!
Anyone ring stop allowing you to speak through it
Some of us have been saying this since day one. People are so gullible and ready to give away their privacy.
They only had to pay 5.5 million to steal every customers info .Sounds like everyone got screwed.
if you receive the money that means you have been violated
less than $50 per customer????? GTFOH
The lawyers get half and the customers get $1.03 each
5 million??? That's nothing to Amazon
Oh noooo
I bought a ring camera and I hate it. Can’t return it.
So how much am I getting, 50 cents? 🤣
How about jail time???? This is a crime. Not a civil issue.
Where’s the link?
Lawyers make the millions and plaintiffs get $.35 each.
People just saying to hell with spellcheck, huh? *Recieve?* Even my phone corrected it. Pays these interns, geezus! 😅
This is why I don’t install cameras inside my home. You can’t trust ANYONE.
When I receive a small (less than $10) check from a large company after they made an “error “, I rip it up.
I bought a ring camera a couple years ago for $80. I changed my phone number and ring wouldn’t allow me to update my information and now I can’t use the damn thing
