    Thanks for this; we’re going to be sowing our beets this weekend 😊

    You have reminded me, I must sow a tray of beetroot today. The ones in the greenhouse are bulbing up now but I only planted about 10. Also, sow some turnips to go with them I think.

    Well, I love those halo pots Steve. They are an uneccessay expense for me but judging by the great value and quality of the green hanging baskets I just might invest in some end of mionth. I put them in my Amazon basket to remind me. I dont plant out peppers but have some bog standard Shirley that are a bit small to go out yet. They will help Im sure.

    Can I grow peppers in pots outside

    • @SteveRichards
      @SteveRichards  Před měsícem +2

      yes, everything depends on where and the weather, if you have a sheltered spot and a good summer then you can get a good yield, especially if you have good sized plants now. If you grow in a low tunnel results are pretty much guaranteed : All the best - Steve

    It's always scary putting the peppers out. I need to invest in some halos. I use big pots doesn't do the same as a halo though. Trying carrot the slugs and snails ate the last once I put in

    Hi Steve
    Can you please remind me what cell trays your using for those beets? I’m using the cd60 which are fine but those slightly larger ones would be useful for me. The 28H deep root trainers are great for the beans, corn etc.
    Thank you as always for sharing your methods 🌱💚

    • @SteveRichards
      @SteveRichards  Před měsícem +1

      They are the containerwise standard trays, the ones they sold prior to Charles Dowding becoming obsessed with planting out tiny plants

    • @pisees738
      @pisees738 Před měsícem

      Thank you. I’m going to get a few trays & will likely invest in some of the halo’s having watched your video. I’ve been using 2l bottles buried upside down with the bottoms cut off (makeshift oya’s of sorts) & that’s worked well but the halos look much more effective.
      I do find that as an allotment grower who’s only able to get there 4-5 times a week the cd60’s do dry out a bit too quickly. It obviously works well for Charles being full time with staff but my slug & snail population doesn’t allow me to successfully plant out so young, apart from beets. Everything else has to be potted on which kinda defeats the purpose.
      Do you ever allow volunteers to visit you or deliver workshops? I’d certainly be interested if you did 😁
      Many thanks

    Hi, I just had an idea to improve your caravan basins when you display them on balcony, bare with me. Get another obelisks, leave it in sections, and not complete them. They ca n then act as plant stands,
    ❤giving you height, which in turn gives more room and is pleasing to the eye. This is assuming that the basins are the right size.anyway just a thought. Love your videos even more since caravan.

      I've had issues, I use a combination of scissor traps, and Duffus traps, suggest you search YT for how to set them, there's a bit of a knack for finding the runs/setting the trap with a 'bridge' in the right place.

      @@SteveRichards scissor traps are great in open ground, but if the run is under one of your raised bed sides, i found the Duffus traps are a better option, had 6 in one day, 3 in the same trap! (my garden is on a causeway in a flood plain, when it floods I get every mole for 1/2 a mile!)

      Hi what soil etc do you have in the raised beds? I’m just starting up an allotment and your channel is amazing, I’m hooked, but I’m not sure what soil you put in the raised beds? Sounds stupid I know 😂 but I’ve never used raised beds before. Also with the strulch do you just scatter it over the top not dig it in?
